What are you currently working on??

Just doing a few chores around the house. Took down a game cam and checked the photos. Moved a squirrel feeder to another tree. Cleaned the work bench off in the basement shop. First time I have seen the whole top in years. Cleaning filter in the vacuum. Changing scope on a rifle. Im tired, time to quit.

Got some work done on the freebie mower deck.
It is painted and reassembled. Even painted the bottom.
Previous owner did some heavy duty repairs to the deck but it is holding up.
New paint, sharp blades, and new belts.
Should be ready to go.

Putting together another commercial 21" bobcat walk behind. These have the chute out the back, angled to the left. (No the clippings don't beat up your feet) This one also is labeled "Ransomes" besides Bob-Cat. These things have aluminum decks with greseable ball bearings wheels. They push so easy. I need to either find or make another discharge chute or else find a catcher basket for one. I have 4 of these, 2 are totally in pieces all blasted etch primed and ready to paint. The one I'm putting together has a brand new engine on it the wheels are cracked and busted up, the guy gave up because he couldn't find wheels for it. (They're available but without some digging they ain't cheap). This will give me 2 up n running for the season. I still have to go up to the mother in law's and maintain her yard. I usually take one of these plus my 32" commercial walk behind bobcat.
I gotta put new wood on my trailer this year and hope to paint it while it's bare. I'm waiting to do that to also paint my other 2 of these mower bases. They don't make anything like this no more. Unfortunately.
Basically you ain't got no choice these days but to rebuild an old mower like these as opposed to the absolute crap that barely passes for a mower these days.... And that's before you even consider the "highway robbery" involved for pure crap
I can't be the only one tired of overpriced crap.
The only OTHER choice is to see what my one coworker wants for a couple of goats

I have this Weed Eater hedge trimmer that was my grandfather’s. It probably has not been used for at least 20 years, at least I’ve never seen him use it. Last year I cleaned the carburetor, and replaced the fuel lines and filter and got it running but it didn’t run great. I have some brush I want to cut down with it, so I need to get it running right. I ended up ordering a new Amazon carb, and put it on last night. It’s running great now, I did not even have to adjust it. I’ll probably try it out over the weekend.

Good you could save it…looks like new…

I don’t think it’s had much use.
We have an old sears unit that was a return. Sons friend buys large lots of stuff like that and resells it. We use it about once a year to cut the Peonies down. Don't work on the Iris though. No hedge around here.
No hedges here either. I just need it to clean up some brush around the edges of the yard and along the driveway. Stuff that’s too small for a chainsaw.

Finally got around to putting a clear coat on my Durango headlights again today since I messed them up last time, they finally look good with no cracks this time. I resanded them first. The left side is the one I did not do yet, and the right side is the one that was done for a comparison….

Also working on the hood hinges for my original 6 horse Craftsman project today as well, I put some body filler to fill in the rust holes on one side then my stepdad let me borrow his DA machine to sand it down. The first 2 pictures are of it done and the 2nd pictures are of the side I still have to do….

I've got 2 Durango's like that. An 01 we've had since '13, has the 360 magnum, ("5.9", I hate metric equivalents) and I just put the trans back in it, had to rebuild it but that one only has 312,000 miles on it ... Body and interior wise it's still in better shape than alot of 10 years newer vehicles running around here....
Then an 03, that one has the motor I've managed to avoid for 20 years, because of the reputation it had for the first 10 years or so it was out ... That being the 4.7, and besides the 03 Durango I also have that engine in my '12, 1/2 ton. Knock on wood so far they've done me alright. I think I got lucky with them and got 2 that were taken care of "right" by past owners...they had a rep as a sludge monster at first and don't like getting hot, they love to drop valve seats when overheated.
We got the 03 when the trans died in the 01 because we needed something to hold 2 car seats...weyre just about to hit 150k on the 03 We've been driving the $h1t out of the 03 since we've had it. It's done us quite well, so far.
I didn't think it would be that long in getting the 01 back going, but being that it's been demoted to the "spare", plus we weren't "without wheels" with it being down/
and between work, and 10 months of hospital and nursing home visits for my mom, then clearing out her house to get sold after she died in August, that one had to sit on the back burner longer than I expected it to. I've had the trans built and ready to go back in since at least last June, but just got the time to slap it back in about a month ago.
We just sold moms house this past Thursday, and also the same day I went to the DMV and the insurance to get it legal again... I've driven it around the country roads a few times close to home before I got plates back on it...
We're keeping 2 Durango's, my son is taking over my 96 Dakota for plow duty on his rental property, we need another vehicle we can haul the grand kids in, can't do that in my Dakota or my 1/2 ton.... As much as I cannot stand 4 door vehicles....

All that said the 360 Durango pulls my camper easier than the 4.7 in the 1/2 ton... Power wise anyway. I put some HD rear leafs on that a few years ago. The 1/2 ton is a little better in the sense of longer wheel base and wider stance.
I now have a set of torsion bars for the hitch, I don't need when towing with the truck but will make towing with the Durango a little better...
Strangely the truck sags more with the camper on the ball than the Durango.
As factory rated they're both equal in tow ratings.
I found out I don't like rear coil springs as well as tried and true leafs for a tow vehicle. The PO did put airbags on the truck which does help a lot.

Today I did some cleaning out in the garage, so I have more room around the 2 post lift, got alot of tools put away, then had a state cop, whose "work car" I work on whenever he needs anything done to it at work, come over with his personal car and I did a quick front brake job on here at home.

I just finished up another little project I have been working on. My dads old Olympyk chainsaw that he bought in the early 90s. He stopped using it around 2005 when he bought the Stihl that he has now. I think I remember him using this once after that but that was still probably 15 years ago. Surprisingly, it started and ran fine with the old gas that was in it, but I dumped it out and put fresh stuff in anyway. I was expecting it to at least need the carburetor cleaned. I took the covers off and cleaned all the sawdust out, replaced the spark plug and air cleaner. It was missing the plastic cover that goes over the air cleaner, I looked everywhere it could possibly be, but didn’t find it. I found one on eBay that even had the right model number on it. The last thing it needed was a new bar and chain, which I put on last night. It’s ready to go now.

Starting to clean the wood shop out. Lot of stuff will get pitched. Stuff that doesn't get used much will go in the other conex we have already. Dealer in the town 30 miles away has several used and new units for sale. Rents out a bunch of them also. Delivery is reasonable as is his price. Will go look at it in the morning to make sure the floor is solid and smooth. Several tools have rollers so want a smooth floor to move them around. Couple 3 items will go to the son in law or will go to auction as there won't be room for everything. I won't use the shop much anymore but want to keep enough tools to do most of the necessary stuff to keep things up around the place.

Nice warm day for a change and with the weeds growing fast I broke out the back pack sprayer and sprayed four 4 gallon loads of Glyphosate around the house. I see the Horse Tail starting to show so that will be next with either Crossbow or MCPA.

Have a large book case I bought at an auction several years ago. Had to cut it down to get it in the wood shop. Want to get that in the container for storage of tools, etc. has all adjustable shelves. Has been a catch all mostly. Old shop has double windows on the one side that will be the opening for most of the stuff to go out onto the loader. Will have a bunch of aluminum window glass in frames that won't fit anything anymore but at least will have the glass.
