What are you currently working on??

My dad had one like that in the mid to late 70s. Had a platform that slid into 2 tubes like Reese hitch receivers offset about even with the truck frame,
Brand of camper was a "Saturn".
I remember riding in that camper to both 6 flags by st Louis and a campground in the reading PA area when I was about 8. Had two "tag axle" tires on it, about 4.80 or 5.30-12
the back low hanging part of that camper sat on this platform and there was a place for a 2" hitch drawbar on the back of this platform thing besides

@MFDAC
That camper has its own set of rear wheels? Seems like that would cause problems with traction from the pickup's rear wheels? I have never seen that before.
Yes Steve, That camper was built in 1972. The "Born Free" company called them a "detachable motor coach". The tag axle can cause a loss of traction on uneven terrain. The previous owner used to take it out in the Badlands trails but he said he only had that issue happen once. He carried some blocks but also had a truck with posi. Pic of it on my '72 GMC. It would have been so cool to restore both and show it but I don't have the time or cash.

This one has a frame under the overhang with "forks" that poke into a bumper that mounts to the truck. Not a very good looking bumper.

The subframe under the camper overhang.

The subframe can adjust for different height trucks. I didn't get the bumper with the camper and never got around to building one. It was free so had no investment.

Didn't get it moved today. The buyer had some other stuff to do.

With the cooler weather we started back on revamping two of the flower gardens by the house. Got the bigger one cut down with the weed eater, raked off and hauled away. All about dried up no but a few are a little green yet so will hit them again with the veg. killer. Picked up a pallet of red mulch this afternoon. I thought they put 50 bags on a pallet but found out it is 70 bags. Don't know what a bag weighs but I found out I did not have enough air in the trailer tires. Had to stop air them up to 40 lbs. before heading home. Caught something with tail light crossover wires on the trailer and they were dragging when I took the strap off. At least we have enough mulch to do all we want and a bunch left over to go in the RR signal shed used for her garden stuff. WalMart used to put their mulch on sale about now for $1 - $1.25 a bag. Landscaper came in last year and bought everything they had. Did the same this year. Public don't have a chance at it.

I got a new to me JD x540 about 4 months ago. I have been in and out of the hospital all spring, and haven't time to do much to it
I have been working on it. the biggest thing
I had to do was installing a sleeve hitch. I went to a plow day last weekend and had a problem with the hitch going down. I have fix that and going to try it again this week end.

We mulched the larger of the two areas this morning. I hauled them to the area and placed the bags, Carolyn cut them open and leveled the mulch around. Tried to stay around 3-4" deep to keep the weeds from coming through. Took about 25 bags, more or less. First ones weighed around 25lbs. Last once were closer to 35 lbs. Need to burn the dead weeds in the rock mounds area and build them up a bit with rock. Will get some photos when we get that one done. Going to put a hand rain along the walk up to the deck door also. Saved the poles from an old swing set I am going to clamp to 4X4 post for that.

Looking forward to seeing those pics, Rog! You folks are putting in the work!

Delivered the old camper across the street. The reason the old gent wanted it so bad is because his dad had one. His dad lived next door to his place but I don't remember ever seeing one over there. We have lived here longer than them.

I had to cut a tree branch out to put the camper where he wanted it. His corded pole saw has the dullest chain I ever used. Wish I would have went and got mine. When I finally got through it the branch caught me in the left arm and tore a couple holes in it. Used my shirt to dab the bleeding until he found some paper towels and bandaids. Seems like everything I do draws blood anymore.

Moved some vehicles around to do some rearranging. The white truck and gold truck stay there.
IMG_3075.jpg

Had to move tractors too. Put the MF1450 in the shop.
IMG_3076.jpg

Put the motorhome out where it will be easier to work on. Won't fit in the shop due to the 4 post lift. Put the tractors, '55, the 2 yard trailers and 2 tractors on the east side where the old camper had been sitting. I sprayed weeds in the gravel on all the gravel areas where stuff was getting parked first.
IMG_3077.jpg

That was enough for today. Hopefully I will be able to catch up on mowing tomorrow. Will use the MF12G. I have bent something on the GT5000 that has made the deck out of level. Need to get it in and find out what happened.

I again got nothing done as far as GT's. I had plans to come home and finish up the mowing and hook up car trailer to go to an auction in MO tomorrow. At 2 pm youngest daughter text me saying her car won't start, started fine at the house drove a mile to Walmart and come back out it won't do anything. I left work at 4 pm drove 45 min to the car looked it over and starter is done. I called a buddy to see if his car dolly was available (it was) drove 1 hr home to get my pickup over to my buddy's house grabbed the car dolly, then back to load up the car. I picked up a starter on the way home to grab the pickup. Pulled into driveway 8 pm and changed out the starter. Ford made it somewhat easy, the 2 main bolts and the main electrical wire all used 13 mm or socket. My diagnosis was correct, it started right up. Tomorrow plan on changing the rear bumper cover on the same car, I picked up a used one when I was in Boise.

Surprised Ford made anything easy, they are by far the worst vehicles I've ever worked on in relation to the ease of removing things.

I second that. This year I had to change the starter on a 2005 Ford F150. To say that it is a pain in the arse, is an under statement. But I was determined to do it and it now works fine and it only took me two days of cussing to do it. To think I used to love ford cars.

The starter was easier to change than the rear bumper. 4 nuts, 4 Phillips screws, 6 large plastic fasteners and 5 small plastic fasteners to hold on the bumper cover. The worst was the 2 nuts on the front, behind the rear tire and a fender liner where all the mud and water goes. I am glad it is done. I was able to get the front tires for the Allis dismounted so i can get the wheels in the sandblast cabinet to clean up and get ready for paint.

Saturday was somewhat productive. Started out by getting stung on the back of the neck by a wasp that I did not know had a nest above my sliding barn door.
The SSI module died on my Sears, I did have a 14 hp that a buddy gave me, yanked that one and installed, fired up and runs like it always has.

Then I did a little barn clean up, the after that I painted the back side of the trim im using for the carport. It the new Smartside trim, basically press board with exterior glue. The face is textured and primed to look like siding, but backside is bare. I wanted a little more protection although it should never see moisture.

Them I cleaned out the goat stall, I hate doing this since the straw binds together and make it rough on the back. Once I got it to the back field to dump, the ball on my sleeve hitch snapped off. I only used a 1/2" pin in the 5/8" hole so after a while, it began to bend and broke the weld. I'll be upgrading to a 5/8" pin this time

Didn't get much done yesterday. Burned the weeds in the rock areas of the flower bed we are refurbishing. That was about all I wanted to do. Knees and back kept telling me that it was time to quit so I did. Watched the Xfinity race at Iowa Speedway, slept in this morning, do a couple little jobs around the house before the cup race comes on. Need to mow again but not today. Dr. apt tomorrow at 2:00. 60 mile one way trip for a 5 min video conference with the cancer Dr. Sporting goods auction coming up the end of the month that has a couple guns I will be doing some checking on. Will be on Proxy Bid to if anyone is interested. Listed under Todd Crill Auctions. 52gun listings in all. Few nice ones, few junkers bit broken stocks, etc., rest are average run of the mill. Some of the old Marlin LA will sell good.

How far is Newton, IA from your place, Rog? It was a good race!

Being fed up
I am trying to sell one of my ariens GT16s my son has had it advertised all over the place for over 2 months. Crickets. I was gonna try to list it a few places and he said he had it in "a bunch"
I'm not on Fakebook but he has a, I guess there's even some ariens specific groups there and nothing. I see " parts" ones that have an asking price for $500, runners from $1100-1300, we put mine out for $700 and, nothing.

I have a wardrobe cabinet we've had on my wife's Fakebook since memorial day and again, crickets. That thing is about to become firewood. Came from moms house I believe it was my grandmother's. It's old. Again crickets. We were getting a few questions about it at first but nobody coming out to look. I've even offered to deliver to a couple of early nearby inquiries and nothing.

I got my 2135 running over the weekend, I have a guy who wants to buy it. I got it a couple years ago from my aunt, and I intended to fix it up and sell it, but I never really did anything with it. It had an electrical issue and wouldn’t start. I thought the starter was bad, but it just ended up being a dirty connection on the key switch. I put a battery in it, drained the old gas out, cleaned the carburetor, replaced the fuel lines and cleaned a mouse nest out of the engine tins, and it started. I cut grass with it yesterday, it ran good. The mower deck could use some work, it keeps throwing the PTO belt off, but the guy whose buying it has another one of these tractors for parts, so I will leave that for him to fix. I just have to clean it up a little bit, and it will be ready to go.

The 2135 went to its new home yesterday…

I've had a number of things listed for sale on Facebook or wherever that sat a very long time.
Things I thought had some valve but apparently nobody else does. And that's cool . nothing going to make it sell.
I've come to realize that I probably have something that's not really of interest to anyone or my prices were to high. Believe me if we have some kind of diamond in the rough it will sell. And older garden tractors are getting harder to sell. JMO
