What are you currently working on??

Tinkered with the motorhome and cut some stickers today. Will head into the house shortly to watch the "Knoxville Nationals". That's the most famous dirt track race in the world. A friend of ours owns a sprint car team and last Wednesday his driver put the car on the pole position for tonight's event!

I did not go to Nationals this year. I am home listening to the radio station which broadcasts the races via the computer.

Had to stop by fair oaks farms on the way home, haven't been out of the truck since before we got out of Ohio, my behind was sore from sitting, had to get out and walk around. Were about 12 miles from IN/IL line still in Indiana, about 40 from home. Took a roundabout way from the campground to start with, had 1 more stop for parts on the way home. Was in the truck quite a while yesterday chasing what I was wanting to bring back. And people wonder why I hate 5 ft something truck beds.... With clothes, laundry, cooler, camping gear, and all of my new goodies I barely fit it all in my 8' bed .... And with all the Menards runs etc sometimes I wish it was 10'

Our friend, Shane Liebig and his driver Ryan Timms WON the Knoxville Nationals! Youngest driver to win it since 1964! He's a couple months older than the previous youngster. He's 18 now will turn 19 in a couple months. Kyle Larson was the first person to meet him at the scale to congratulate him. Larson blew a RR with 4 laps to go but no one challenged Timms the whole 50 laps!

Finished some stickers today and worked on the motorhome some more.

Larsen did not have a good weekend. Blew that tire Saturday night and Sunday mechanical issues put him in a big hole. The goose won another road race Sunday. Has the road courses mastered but don't do so good on the large ovals. Will see how he does when it come to the playoffs. Lot more take and less give in the playoffs.

Nope the weekend didn't go well for Larson, but in general his sprint car racing has been going good with a couple of big wins in the last month. His cup racing is still in a slump since the Indy 500 weekend. I think SVG will come around on ovals if given the time. As a whole Trackhouse racing isn't up to par so a lot of it may not be his fault.

Had to be in town most of the day today for a couple of doc appointments and pick up stuff at Walmart. Grabbed lunch at Arby's. Forgot a couple things so stopped at Dollar General--- on the way home LOL!

It was too hot to mow when I got home at 3:30 but the MF12G needed some maintenance anyway.

Raised it up with the hoist on the bridge crane.

Got to greasing zirks and the deck rollers. First battery is still going strong on the grease gun.
IMG_3115.jpg

Did the deck spindles first. I put the grease gun on the vent zirk and the grease came out the top spindle seal on the first one. I have caps on the vent zirks but a senior moment happened. Hope I didn't ruin it. Switched things around and the grease vented just fine. Did the other 2 correctly.

Also did the wheel bearings and front axle spindles. Wasn't going to do the steering box this time as I always seem to draw blood when the 90* adapter lets go pulling on it to get it off in tight quarters. Then I saw this angle doing the front axle.
IMG_3117.jpg

Just barely enough room for the straight grease nipple!
IMG_3116.jpg

Brought it back down and checked the engine oil and filled with gas. Hopefully I can mow tomorrow morning before I have to meet up with our son for awhile tomorrow afternoon. Been a week and a half!

We've had some good storms roll through the last few days, the big tree trunk finally slid off and also the long horizontal tree slid down some more so I maybe able to get them actually down now.
So to do that, spent an hour sharpening chains last night using my HF chain sharpener. Not the best job in the world, but beats a hand file.

The brass float and gasket for the Mag 18 carb came in yesterday. Dropped them off at the shop this morning. Picked up a battery for the LT1018. Battery that was in was dated 5 - 20 so it is 5 years old. Carolyn finished the mowing with the 1018 as I cannot run that 2 lever foot control hydro with my right knee screwed up. Not really fond of the foot control hydro's any more anyway. My IH782 is hand control but has a L head 16+ Briggs in it so have to stay off the steeped banks.

Been cleaning up the new rifle I got the other day. Takes some cleaning to get all that old heavy shipping oil off. Had to make a cleaning rod for it also. It is a Rossi RB17, .17HMR. .22 cal cleaning rods will not fit. 28" piece off the coil of #9 brace post wire fit good. Jut took about 1.5 hours to get it straight, and I mean straight to slide in and out without binding. Got it cleaned, oiled up with G96 Gun Treatment and back on the stock. Came with the standard scope base mounted so was not much trouble mounting the 3-9 X 45 scope. Hopefully I can see the target explode when hit at 200 yds when I get it zeroed in. Will post a picture later. Need to get the work bench cleaned up first.

Mainly worked on the motorhome today.

Got the pressure washer fired up for the first time this year. Hooked it to the water service rather than the well water. The well water can leave stains on glass that can be dang hard to clean off. Washed all the camper part with it but put the nozzle on "delicate" for the cab. Typical GM 2000's paint job had a couple spots blown off already when we bought it. Didn't need to remove more.
IMG_3143.jpg

I did a lot of hand rubbing on the cab and the forward facing walls behind the cab to get ancient bug splatters off. The cab sides were in need of a scrubbing too. Doors, running boards fenders. Basically the entire cab.

While I had the pressure washer going I sprayed off the tractors within reach. There really isn't any helping the way the MF1450 looks short of a repaint but sprayed it anyway. Got around the engine where there is oil seeping.

Hosed off the GT5000 and the mobility scooter along with the yard trailer. Cant see anything but the GT5000 in the pic though.

Oh before the washing started, a new 30 amp cord end got installed on the Motorhome power cord. Looked like someone had driven off with the old one plugged in. Cut that one off and installed this one.
IMG_3146.jpg

Then the stickers went on the hubcaps to identify which stem goes to which tire on the rear duals.
IMG_3142.jpg

IMG_3148.jpg

Checked the air pressures while I was at it on all 6. Inside dual on the drivers side this time had lost about 20 psi. Will check those hoses that caused the problem on the other side, but not today. Will check it again tomorrow morning.

Going to take it into town tomorrow for my weekly allergy shot appointment and then go get 2 rock chips repaired in the windshield after that. It was hot and humid today and I'm beat! Thankfully a thunderstorm off to the south provided shade most of the day, until I took the pictures.

My friend at the glass shop said that the rock chips have already been repaired so don't worry about them. I was concerned they might grow. He had to get on a ladder and study them but could tell the repairs had been made before we got the motorhome. Going to get the windshield replaced in the '06 Denali hopefully next month with him. Got to finish paying some dental bills first.

Got home and had lunch then the new cover of the roof A/C showed up. Nope didn't install it yet. Too damm hot. Looks like decent quality.

IMG_3153.jpg

Measured it up and it seems to be the right one! I was about 99% sure but the model number of the a/c unit never came up with good results. Went off the name which I wasn't sure about either besides it being a Dometic/Duo-Therm. Finally just went off measurements.

I was surprised to see this rather than a "Made in China" sticker!

Sounds like it may cool down in a few days so this might wait until then.

Finishes up the South side of the house on land scaping. Need to add some to the West side next to the house and should be about done. Will end up with about 15 bags to go into the signal shed for storage once I get it cleaned out and closed up so the mice don't get in. Will try and get some photos tomorrow.

I found a free Snapper push mower yesterday. I brought it home, and put some gas in it and it started on the first pull, and it runs great! I was expecting it to be blown up or at least need the carburetor cleaned. I cut a couple hills with it that are too steep for tractors. It just needs the blade sharpened. Based on that yellow shroud, I don’t think that’s the original engine.

Free and it run who cares what color the shroud is?

All back together, even added a white butt pad spacer to kind of dress it up a bit. Bore sighted it in so just waiting for cooler weather to finish the zeroing in. The trajectory is so flat with this caliber it don't take any figuring to get it real close at 100 yds to start with.

I have a CZ .17hmr. I put a new scope on it and took it out to the rifle range to sight it in. After I got it dead on, my wife, who has nothing to do with shooting, but came with me asked to try it. I had to draw a diagram on a pice of paper to show her how the scope works. I put 4 golf balls on a dirt mound at 100 yards. She shot 4 times and hit 4 golf balls. Then she said, "what's the challenge? "
Such a fun caliber! I love to plink with this gun.
