Was thinking it was diesel Nick but yea spark plug holes are for sure.
It is gas. T9 was gas, TD9 was the diesel version.
I was thinking my Son's was diesel. I will have to check with him and see what size it was and gas or diesel. I remember it looking like yours. Especially the blade and lift arms.
There was also a T6/TD6 that looked similar, but was a little smaller.
Probably two different head gaskets..although IH had some unique motors back then.
Yeah, I would guess they probably are different.
 
Engine had to reach normal operating temperature before you could switch to diesel. The compression ratio was too low to ignite the diesel when the engine was cold. Some earlier tractors did the same thing before switching to kerosene which was called power fuel. Some of those tractors had manual shutters in front of the radiator to help keep the temperature up.
