I think you may be right.The plugs with the hex will just thread out and you can clean the passages. I think the engine is older than 39.

I have seen these engines before my dad had one. I read or talked to someone that both cylinders fire at the same time. but not sure?

I would suppose that is possible depending on the magneto.Doug, this engine could still fire both cylinders at the same time. Almost all the twins on the market today from Kohler to Harley-Davidson. Does this engine fire on every revolution even though it's on the exhaust stroke?

Base will be steel, might go with round stock for the other side, the fairbanks mag is bigger than the corresponding part on the engine.I'll have to check their store when I get a chance. I think round stock would be easier to work with for the coupler. I'm not sure you want a base made of the phenolic. The mag has to ground to the engine. Maybe run a ground wire?
