That’s true Doug. I’m not about to start trying to learn how to speak something else. I’m no good at our own language. Hehe.

I use 10w-30 Doug. In every thing, engine break ins, and every day running. Summer and winter.

Yeah, I have a hard enough time understanding english any more---LOL! And it seems everyone talks so damm fast nowadays! I can't keep up!
10-30 it is! I had pretty much gone completely to that too but was still using the 30wt in the summer. Probably won't switch back and forth any more.

That engine is a JD K341 that I put in my Simplicity that split the piston. Originally it had the shroud and a horizontal muffler which I still have. I still can't find that oil pan, has to be in my garage somewhere.
A K341 looks just like a K321! You may have missed it a ways back in this thread, Rad, but I bought an oil pan on a ebay store, so don't worry yourself looking! I appreciate your effort! Thanks for thinking of this poor old tractor---LOL!

Talking fast ? I hate it when a check out chatters like physic woodpecker. I just stand there and look at them. Sooner or later they will ask whats wrong. I tell them when the slow down their talk so a human can understand we will move on, till then I am not moving.

Not to hijack the thread your making some good progress on getting that poor old thing running again.

That fast talk just all blurrs together and becomes a noise to me, Roger! My wife translates a lot of it for me but she ain't always there. That's when it becomes "look" as you are speaking of----LOL! Sometimes I just reply ok or nod my head.

Got a little more done today. The new cables came in yesterday and I was able to make the choke and the throttle cable out of one. Looks like I have an extra 8" cable.
DSCN4142.JPG

Drilled a hole in the aluminum dash panel for the new choke cable position.
DSCN4148.JPG

I cut them off a bit long so they will need a little more cutting when the final hookup is made. Also re-routed the starter cable to a position where nothing is rubbing on it. The plate on the steering box was hitting it. That could have been bad.

Was going to take the engine tins to work and use the bead blaster to clean them up, but some moron keeps yanking the gloves out of the cabinet. It's a pia to put them back in because the moron parts man bought the wrong ones. Tired of being the only one that will install them again so your arm isn't getting the skin blasted off it! The parts moron won't get the right ones either! My rant for the day. I'll use wire wheels in a drill and sandpaper to get the tins ready for paint. Hopefully I can do that tomorrow, but that depends on if snow removal is going to be a time consumer.

You should be sticking some red paint in those places that are exposed now Doug. Just sayin.

Noel
I'm only painting areas where I need to be able to see leaks and make it cleaner to reach into areas for service, Noel. I am so far behind on other things that need done, outwardly this thing will still look like a scrapyard candidate.

I did put oil in the engine today also. Hope there's no big puddles tomorrow when I get to the shop!

No oil leaks just sitting. Got a few pieces painted after plowing snow and doing my laundry. Also had to go to the store and get distilled water for my wife's cpap so she can use it when she gets home from work around 11 pm. Filled the '06 Denali with gas---ouch!

I filled my 05 Denali last monday and it got me for $73. Made a trip to Dayton so haven't refilled it.

One thing leads to another. Quite a while back, Daniel sent me this cover for the spool valves. Very hard to find item, I'm sure!
DSCN4158.JPG

Problem was I couldn't use it because the center lift lever was not original, and I would have had to hack the slot bigger to make it work.
DSCN4159.JPG

Kenny came to the rescue and is sending the correct lever setup! Tonight I went ahead and removed the knobs, and the incorrect lever and plopped the cover on. STILL WON"T FIT DANG IT! There is an added on bracket to hold on the cover to the center lift piston shaft spring assembly. That cover is broken and this bracket holds it on!
DSCN4157.JPG DSCN4160.JPG

Does anyone know if that cover is aluminum or pot metal? I may stand a chance of welding it if it is aluminum. Might have to try JB Weld? That will be touchy since it's at a flange that has screws holding it to the valve body.

If you guys recall, near the beginning of this long, drawn out thread, I mentioned that I think this tractor fell out of a pickup or off a trailer at one time. More evidence of that kind of damage right here. The fender is bent down too but that won't be a problem to bend back up.

Any ideas out there? I would think that cover is harder to find than the plastic parts for this tractor.

That's the detent cap for the float spool, right? I'd probably use epoxy to put it back together, myself....

Yes, Sarge, for the float spool. The center lift has the float, and the 3 point does not. The float is built into the 3 point mechanically. I looked inside it and it looks like the end of the spool rod is hitting the inside of the cap. Will do some more checking tomorrow night.

Actually Daniel, now that I think about it, it was a set that SupplySergeant generously sent me that had it on. Like you did for the gas tank, I just paid the shipping. (I only mention this part to re-iterate the fact of the generosity of the member here.)
