It had dried sediment in the bottom that took me about 5 minutes of elbow grease to remove with steel wool.

another vote for Harley coil. works great on those. you want one for 79-older Harley/ ohm reading is different on 80 and newer, the older ones had points, that's the coil you want.

Definitely going to look into the Harley coil, ( and as someone who's owned and worked on a few Harleys, it's weird hearing anything Harley Davidson is cheap lol)
im probably going to come home from work tomorrow and push mow the rest of my yard.
It might be a few weeks before u fire her now.
My money i had set aside for tractor parts got put into the pup, and my next check is gonna be short cuz i had the last week off for the 4th. A perk of workin for family owned business's.
Ill probably just get a Kohler #26 carb, I get the feeling after talking to the guy that he's fought with this carburetor for a while. So the walbro is just going to go into the spare stuff box.
I think im gonna spend some time cleaning things up, including some wiring. Maybe pull the dash and gas tank out as it looks like theres some junk down in there.
Is the toggle switch to the left of the ignition supposed to be for the headlights?

My truck is a 2001 F-250 7.3 powerstroke that I bought in 2015. I didn't know a dang thing about diesels when I bought it, but I knew the 7.3, like the Kohler kt17 S2, is a solid powerplant. I know a bit about 7.3 diesels now haha
I bought a coil on amazon for the KT18. It was 38.00. I read about the harley coils, but when I found that 38 dollar coil I snapped it up.

If he is suffering from the coil problem I had on my KT19 (thought it was an 18..) but it would ALWAYS show spark. Even when it wouldn't run. That had me chasing my tail looking for a fuel problem. Only thing I can figure is the spark was there, but not enough to actually ignite the fuel.
I havent had time to do much with it, vacation ended yesterday and busy w the baby.
I went down there this evening for about 15 minutes took my Shop-Vac and cleaned all the grass clippings up that I can find.
Then i found on the deck what looks to be layers of aluminum duct tape with either Bondo or Liquid Nails spread around. Guy swore to me me the deck was solid... not too terribly bad though, I can patch it with some sheet metal and self tappers to get me through the season. Actually I might have to pre-drill those holes lol...but It's the only spot I saw like this. I went around the whole deck that I could get to with a rock hammer and everything sounds , like metal to me and it was all spray-painted green too. Guy said he bought it two years ago and told me he paid 1200, I'm starting to get the feeling that he maybe didn't use it much in the last two years, maybe just fought with the carb here and there. After being a cop for 10 years I'm pretty good at spotting a liar and I don't think the guy knew about this at all

He knew about the carb or whatever running issues for sure. I dunno about the the horrid deck patch lol....hes had it 2 years chasing ghosts, i asked him if he did any research on the internet and he said he doesnt even use a computer and Showed me his flip phone lol

Regardless I'm going to pick up a #26 carb as soon as I have the funds, if it's the best carb for these motors that's the one I'm going to get.

Electrical gremlins can come and go.
The carborator just atomizes the fuel.
Same thing a can of starting fluid does.
I’d look closely at the wiring.
One broken/corroded wire can work fine sometimes
And not at all other times.
Like when the engine is running and shaking and the
Tractor is moving.
If it ran good for you once, it will run good again!

Yes I've seen a few things on this tractor that have made me raise an eyebrow when it comes to wiring. One of them being that the black cable goes of the positive and the red cable goes to the negative.
Took a few inspection pics before bed. Also found another hole in the deck.
Out of curiosity, has anyone ever put any of the 4" round LED fog lights on these in place of the headlights?

Well let's assume for now that it is a #26 lol, has anyone had any experience with the #26 from the isaveteactors guy?
I played with the adjustment screws on the carb a little bit tried cranking a few times but got nothing. Don't really feel like I'm getting much of a gas smell either. I pulled the spark plugs after cranking a bit and they were dry.
I think I'm going to pull the carb back off and get the numbers off of it.

I said a #26 because that's what is on both of my KT19s. and they run pretty well.... your observations may vary. IDK if it was in a Kohler manual or where, but I have read it somewhere that this was the OEM size carb for the Kohler carb used on the KTs, and the Walbro would have been a (different numbering system) #52.
though I have seen #30s come equipped on a M12 12hp single before....my Woods ZTR came to me so equipped, ran great with it
though when I mounted a #30 onto a 301 once it would backfire upon shutoff... (though the original K341 that this carb came from, didn't do so-- I "borrowed" the carb while I waited for Heli coils to arrive to fix the stripped threads that held the backing plate for the air filter on)
I'd look for a good used original Kohler carb and go thru it... though as I remember the throttle shaft and choke shaft were different from those used on #26 carbs,for the single cylinder engines. you can buy reproduction carbs from that "Isavetractors" guy but they are available many places/ as cheap as they are, I'm afraid the "you get what you pay for" kicks in.

Well if i get a chance to pull the carb tonight im going to.
I was getting gas to the carb at the fuel line. But even the fuel lines going to need replaced.
Id like to get the deck off too, but upon looking at it, im gonna guess its alot easier to take off when its setting in the down position
