What are you currently working on??

Future son-in-law works with the family construction business. Several jobs are on hold due to the price of lumber. They are trying to get customers with bigger projects to go with the composite lumber. We wanted to put up a storage building, about a 10 X 14. I have the 4X6 stringers to build it on but have to buy the rest. Not going to happen. Will look into a shipping container come spring as I don't see any relief in lumber prices for a long time. Fires took care of that.

Guys at work said studs are 8-9 bucks a piece here! Don't know how anyone can afford that!

I'm glad my remodeling is done! I used 200 plus 2x4s in my addition a few years ago. I spent 5k on the whole adventure. More than 1/5 would've been 2x4s!

I did read an article that stated the lumber prices would fall again by may of 2021. Did state that it had raised on average 1000%!

All treated, I got 2 each 2x4x10, 2x6x10, 2x6x8, and 4, 2x4x8 plus 2 packs of #2 phillips bits and a pack with a 1/4 and a 3/8 sq drive adapter for the cordless drill/driver and all told the bill was $115. I had to crawl on my stomach to reach the last of the 2x4x8s and the 2x 6x8, and what was marked"prime cut" sure wasn't

well today was windy as all He11 and I do not think it even hit 40*F. so no progress on garage door install. My son and I are both off tomorrow and Tues, and each of next few days is supposed to warm up so we'll get em done. Got the living rm put back together, (had everything pushed to middle and tarped so I could paint walls and ceiling) put all new control arm bushings on my cousin's old square body Cherokee and a new track bar.... If I didn't have a (I'll say it) L.I.F.T. in my garage there'd have been no way I would do that job off of jack stands any more..... that track bar was a PAIN to change....I used to do a fair amount of those, back when I was an alignment guy. as soon as it is unbolted the whole front diff wants to shift towards the right.

what do you mean? Owning a house, that sort of thing is never done..... always something to fix or modify or remodel or paint or replace.

Because of the bad weather coming and my sons garage if full, I going to stay home and clean up my own garage today. Stuff every where. Been at my sons garage for the last few months. Been in mine a little but never put any thing away. Hopefully I make a little dent in it today. Brang home a cord of wood to split and stack away too. Do that on a much nicer day thou.

This is very true! But at least large amounts of lumber are done for now. I'm actually redoing a hallway right now but that was just some drywall and paint...

The only room in the house that hasn't been touched since we moved in is the room off from the kitchen the kids use as a play room. It won't be remodeled until we have no need for a play room and I plan to turn it into an office style space. But that will require flooring and drywall only.

Not working on it yet but going to have to happen one of these days. Went to start the Cub diesel this morning and when the switch is turner to "start" it get a dead short. Amp gauge pegs to the left. Think I know where it is. Then went and started the IH 755 to mow the dead foxtail on the garden. Ran good for about 15 min and then started pulling down, made a noise and smoke started bellowing out the exhaust. Got it back to the shed and shut it off. Just a bit on oil on the dip stick and oil iis running out in a small stream from the bottom right side. That one will sit till spring as the weather is to iffy to start on it in an unheated shop.

I am almost ready to load this damned tractor on the trailer and bring it straight to the shredder plant! It is fighting me every inch of the way! I am really disappointed too as it was really nice to use, but as soon as I get the head back on its going down the road!
Too damned hard to get parts for it now ! And I don't really need it as I am never doing haying again!
I think the 1594, 575 baler and this David Brown 996 should be a really good trade for a new Mahindra with cab , snow blower and mower deck. Tractors all seem to come with loaders so i should be in good shape and nice and warm blowing snow during the winter.

Got the brakes on the Jeep done yesterday while the race was on. Had a doc appointment this morning so wife and I took her truck to go have breakfast afterward, then came back home and took the Jeep for a test drive. Seems fine. Did some design work on the computer, cleaned the brake job tools and mess in the shop. My wife came out and said she bought a cabinet on Marketplace. It was about 20 miles away so that took the remainder of the afternoon.

Yesterday did some chores in the house while the cook went grocery shopping. Had an outlet the quit. After moving the big hall clock found the switch got turned off with a duster run behind it. Replaced some weather strip on a bottom window. Put new weather strip cap on the bottom of the back door. Took down a ladder stand and pulled the camera from one location. Have it ready to go up in another if it look promising. Spent the rest of the day putting a new weather station together and most of it up on a mast. Rain gauge this morning will go up. Had to take a nap after all that so I could watch the game last night.

This is what I’m up to today. Spliting and stacking wood. Small spot in garage to fill. Plus put a little on top of the pile already there and put the rest outside. Had to put the tractors out in the cold to be able to get to the spot. Will use MF 12 to do the carrying.

And no hoist was used or harmed in this adventure. hehe.

More pictures later to see how far I got along.

All finished, putting wood inside. 21 bucket fulls. Tomorrow or this evening I’ll put the rest beside the building outside.

All done with the wood. Even though, the wood in the trailer was covered in snow, I managed to split and stack it outside beside the building.

So no tractors were used, harmed or broken this procedure.

Glad the tractors are safe! Carry on!

Be easy on the tractors now and when you really need them they will be ready to go to work, Noel! That don't look like enough snow for snowplows to be out on the roads!! LOL! Glad you enjoy being a lumberjack!
