What are you currently working on??

Me either. Saw one at the dealer once all torn apart at the front for some sort of engine repair I think. Warranty work maybe ? Couldn't believe that the axles and diff were in that location of the oil pan on the engine. The vehicle looked like it was in a major front end crash with it all apart like that. Always wondered how they would remember how it all went back together. I'm sure they were not always right.

Removed the loader and stuck the blower on. A few issues came up.
It is really easy to remove the loader.

The hose retention loop for the blower that goes on the frame above the front axle gets to stay there. I can’t see why I would need to remove it.
image.jpg
The hydraulic hoses for the blower are color coded. So is the loader, and the tractor. The blower doesn’t match, however. Black, red, blue and green on the tractor. Blue, orange, yellow, and green on the blower. Took some trial and error there. At least one color matched up.

The chute rotate was getting hung up when turning right, in the middle of it’s arc. After several tries, I saw shards of black plastic come out. Remove chute, remove remnants of plastic bag it probably shipped in, and we’re good to go.
image.jpg
The test run went well. There is not much vibration running the blower empty, at idle up to full throttle. The clearance between the impeller and the blower housing is very tight all around. It should blow well.

I removed the blower and put the loader back on. It started to snow 10 minutes later.
I am considering using one of the mounting bars for the manual chute rotate crank rod for mounting the joystick electrical switch for the linear actuator that will control the spout deflector.

While I'm not a Chevy guy my daughter in law had a trailblazer til recently. An 07. She got hers with 150k on it, and then put over another 100k on it herself. She just sold it a few months ago still running good.
It did use couple quarts of oil between changes for about the last 80k miles she had it, my son and I made sure it got changed every 5k while she had it. It never did leak any oil other than when the sending unit was bad.
Had to replace all the ball joints in that time, a couple sets of brakes and tires in that time, the oil sending unit, the PS lines (those were right after she got it) An issue we had which ended up being an easy fix was it popped a couple of codes that had us thinking the cam timing phaser was bad, it wasn't. The engine got milky mayonnaise-y sludged up all of a sudden. As I remember it don't have a pcv valve but there's a passage in the valve cover that gets Carboned up. I cleaned that out and did a couple of 1000 mile oil changes and it was fine after that. Seems like the sludge made that can phaser stick.

The one other thing that drove me nuts was a check engine light for the electric air pump (yeah, "smog pump") which is mounted on the frame under the driver seat. Like the sludge issue this ended up being a valve on the exhaust manifold that Carboned up, cost like$10 for a couple of gaskets to take apart and clean out. I'd gone to the junkyard and gotten another pump and that valve that wound up being clogged, cleaned that one up and put that one on.
That air pump valve is like $140 at the parts store or stealership.
I didn't have to buy that new but I did buy a cam phaser which I still have the new one here that I never used. Also cost around $100 and that was even from rock Auto, I'll probably never need

Went to the doctor today and tested neg.
Just a bad upper respiratory system infection. I still feel awful, even at that, luckily I guessed right that it isn't covid, I figured it was something else because the way I have been feeling vs my wife, son and daughter in law who all tested + last week
Well I'm supposed to go back to work Tuesday but so far I dunno. I'm feeling alot better, but not yet right. I finished the antibiotic today. The coughing is greatly diminished, I can finally talk, I didn't sleep all day like I have lately but I'm still wiped out easy.
Thursday I went outside for less than a 1/2 hour, moved a tractor (didn't have to push it, just jumped it and drove it to the other side of the house) moved 2-1/2 bundles of shingles into the garage and I was wiped out. Before today that was the last time I had even been outside.
Today i just went to try to change the thermostat in the garage and that was enough to get me light headed. Not at all like me, but it did put me back where I didn't want to be-- the couch. Might try again after we eat, which has also been something I have struggled with in the last week or so.
I gotta try to get out to the garage tomorrow, and get the heater core in my #2 truck which has been apart since turkey day.
It's truck #2 because of the season (no 4wd) but it has over 100k less miles and 3 years newer than truck#1. Heater box is apart on the tailgate.
I just wanna know how I'm the only one in my family who tested negative for this covid $#1t, but I'm the only one who has had the effects of being hit by a Mack truck?

When I went to the doctor, I had to call from the parking lot and tell them what I was sitting in. I've been going to the same place for over 10 years probably closer to 15/
Never saw this girl before, the one that tried to jam that swab not only thru my brain from 1 side of my nose but from both.(same swab even)
20 minutes later she came out to get me to come in, I asked yeah or no, she said no.
My BP was even down, I've been borderline for years where they're still debating"do they" or don't they" put me on something for that.
I'm 15# lighter than the last time I was there, something else that they have been bitching for me to do and now it's a "problem"?
My work pants have been getting loose since mid summer, way before this crap hit me.
When my normal PA that I always see came in I told her that I thought I must have walking Pneumonia.... I've had the respiratory system infection before but never quite like this bout.
I'm just glad for that Fed program of 2 weeks pay related to covid (I originally had to take off because of the wife's+ test, whatever this is hit me like 1-1/2 days later)
If I can get back to work Tues and make it thru the rest of the year that makes over 2 years since I have actually had to take a sick day also a 1st for me.

Sounds like pneumonia, sons girlfriend been coughing for a while. I said , you got pneumonia. She went to the doctor and was told she has pneumonia. So now on medicine for that.

I’ve had pneumonia twice, 1990 and 1994 and just like your saying, if you do anything it just wipes you out. Takes quite awhile to get rid of it.

Noel

That’s how the doctor found it with me both times. Listening to the lungs. He did it front and back. Only took him couple of minutes to find out.

I had went to the hospital twice before I went to my own doctor, and they didn’t have a clue. My doctor was away on Christmas holidays. This started two to three weeks before Christmas at the time, only choice was to go to hospital. Didn’t get to see my own doctor until he was back, first week of January. Was not a pleasant Christmas. Was on a ventilator, and took a month or more to get rid of the pneumonia.

well. my 14 day quarantine order is officially over today. that was actually issued because "somebody else" in the house tested +. Not me.
Supposed to go back to work tomorrow. I felt alright most of the day (certainly better than I have recently) but definitely still not 100%. I got up a couple hours earlier than I have been these past 2 weeks, which has been very late "for me" even when I don't have to be up for work....
Biggest thing was (not as bad as yesterday, which was a 1st for this feeling/sensation) was a little light headdedness, early/mid afternoon... but again I didn't try to actually do much today either...... I tried harder yesterday, the light headdedness stopped me then, though...
yesterday I got out to the garage and took the 1st wire off the wall T stat for my garage heater (of only 2 total!) about eye level, and then it "hit"....
Im sure I will go back to a madhouse whenever I do go back.... gonna try hard, to make that tomorrow.
My wife's sister did a drive and drop, of a gift here at my house (she never came in, which is great even when nobody is sick-- nother story) my daughter in law came by for me to put it in her truck, I loaded it for her (daughter in law is 8+ months pregnant) today, I talked to her for a bit and I guess her Dad (who tested +, unlike me) has some pretty rough issues from it, everyone else that we know that got it within a few days of each other all seems fine and is back to work. Even my daughter in law said "that don't seem like me" when I told her how much sleep and couch time I have had to take lately..... Her and my son have been married around 15 months, but she has been around here for around 10 years with my son....

Did some work on the MF 14 bulldozer. Removed the broken original lift hydraulic lift cylinder and joined the lines together, so the Plow angle cylinder will work

Cleaned Plow and coated with clear paint. I cleaned and prepared the Plow in the order of tools from right to left. Took the major mud off with the wire brush and scraper, then sanded, then brake cleaned, then the torch to heat up a bit and remove any moisture, then paint. I’ll give it a second coat tomorrow. Again I’ll use the torch before paint.

What kind of control is on that winch, Noel? I will be needing one I think! Nice work getting ready for the snow! Maybe being prepared means you won't get big amounts!

DAC

I believe it’s called a momentary switch Doug. It operates relays to operate the winch. I’ll get a few pictures for ya. Tomorrow.

And Doug, I was working on the cold floor. No hoist today. Have the tractor at home.

Noel

Pictures of switch and relays to run winch Doug. Same thing on each tractor MF 12/14. Has worked great for years. You may need heavier relays than what I have, depending on power draw of your winch.

But why not just get a hand held operating switch which comes with some winches.

Thanks, Noel, good information! That's what I'm working on now. More info in the new trailer thread. I feel sorry for you having to work on a cold, hard floor!

Been working on an old Winchester model 60, single shot .22 cal Carolyn inherited from her brother. Would not stay cocked. Figured out the firing pin was wore off where the sear engages it. Stopped by by buddies welding shop today and he built it up a bit. Spend a couple hours with needle file, etc filing it back to shaped and fitting inside the bolt. Finally got everything to fit right and it works just fine. Should have taken photos but never thought of it till it was all back together and in the gun cabinet. This is a pre-serial number era, 1930 to 1934. Replaced with the Model 52.

Found some time today to get out to the shop and mess with the Speedex. It has been firing off on carb cleaner sprayed into the carb. but wouldn't stay running. pulled the carb off and cleaned it. The float and needle were stuck. Once reinstalled it fired right off and kept running. Maybe tomorrow I can get it outside and set the high speed and idle. I reinstalled the hood, but for it to fit over the Kohler I had to reposition it. I needed to push it forward and up. I figured two new arms with holes about 2" longer would work....... Sometimes you get lucky,,,,,, When I looked in the
"some day I may use this corner" , I found two pieces of flat stock with holes spaced at the dimension I needed. All I had to do was cut them to length. With the hood on, a bungee cord to hold it down and the belt guard installed I was done for the day. But on the way to the door I passed by some Sears 3 point parts and started figuring how to adapt it on the back. The implement lift arm is missing from this tractor so I may be using an electric actuator. The lift arm was also the left foot rest. So it got replaced by a P.O. with a railroad spike and some diamond plate.
Luckily the wife called me in for supper. Rick

Clear costed the bucket and Plow today. Second coat for both. Depends how much use they get used, may coat them once more in the middle of February or so. Still have four snow throwers to do. Three of them have been done many times before over the years, so only need one coat, but the Case, because it’s new to the fleet will need two more coats. One coat done already.

Ugh no garage time in a while.
Been struggling my way thru the work day and I'm spent.
Having watched my wife, son and daughter in law "suffer" as they all had covid-19 while I tested negative, they are all back to normal while I am still not back to being myself.

I did take a small "gov't job" to work today. Small enough it fit in my pants pocket.
I broke a hinge pin for the blend door on the heater core in my #2 truck, something NA except to spend 3 hours pulling a heater box in a junkyard, original was plastic, I made one from some 1/4" rod, 1/2x1/8 flat stock, and believe it or not the shank of a 12penny nail. Not plastic like the original, this'll never break again.
