What are you currently working on??

Im glad I don’t know any more. Boss asks all the time if I want to work Saturday. I told him to quit asking me if it’s optional. If he wants me to work he has to tell me I’m working.
Had a boss chase me all the way out into the parking lot 4 0clock Friday and tell me I had to work Saturday. I told him No I don't. He says yes you do it is mandatory. I told him "today was not mandatory yesterday was not mandatory tomorrow is certainly not mandatory. If you can't do any better than chase me down in the parking lot after quitting time you must not need me." That was the same place I worked 7 12s for 6 months straight.

I was looking for a job when I found this one. Spent too many years working 6 and 7 days a week 12+ hour shifts. I’m done with that.

The overtime I take is voluntary but every six weeks we do have an "operations schedule" for 3 weekends with 3 hours mandatory overtime Sat. and Sun. morning to do plant rounds and lab tests. The last week of that is the "on call" week. The 8 hours yesterday was voluntary.

We are making hot water again as of about 4 pm! That shower is gonna feel great tonight! Got a tank that won't rust out this time at least! I had to pull the water softener salt tank out and use a floor jack to raise the new heater up about a foot to clear where the feed and hot lines come out of the floor. The flex of the tubing allowed me to push the bottom in, then I was able to use one hand to lift the heater a bit and get the floor jack out from under it. I got a cold shower once while filling. There was a Pex ring I forgot to crimp and when I noticed water squirting, I reached to feel the ring and it pulled apart---LOL! Shoved it back together. Closed the feed and hot valves then crimped the darn thing!

Wow that’s a monster. How many gallons is it.

I get mine through the local REC. First one replaced a gas one and at that time they offered a free lifetime replacenent if one of their electric units replaced a gas unit. Got in on that so have free replacements for life. They put in a new one last year so good for several years again.

We got this one from our rural electric co-operative also, Roger. Lifetime on the tank. Heating elements only 6 year. Folks I know with this heater are going on 15 years in hard well water, still on the original elements. Flush it a couple times a year.

For the past week I was off work at my full time job, most of the time was spent in the garage taking a tractor apart to get it ready for paint. View attachment 37995After pressure washing and soaking down with degreaser 5 times there are still places of grease and dirt. I have taken a couple of control valves and mounts off the tractor to help with cleaning and painting. I have found a few surprises in the process, the worst one was 2 bent push rods. The other surprise, the block heater is original to the tractor, stamped JI Case along with the part number. View attachment 37996 The cord was missing and has been for some time, my dad installed a tank type block heater on the tractor. I plan to go back to the original style of block heater.

It has been almost a year since I started on this Case 530 but it is closeIMG_20220409_102550171_HDR.jpg to being done. I moved it out of the garage under its own power today. The power steering did not want to work today, I will have to lift the front end off the ground and turn the wheels side to side to bleed the air out of the system. I have the hood off due to it needs to be repainted. I also am starting body work on the rear fenders.

I installed a sliding barn door a couple months ago going into our bedroom. Because of the way the doorway is and built in bookshelves right next to the old doors, I couldnt use standard sliding door latches. I did make a lock for the inside, but once you leave room there was no way to latch it. This is only really an issue with our cat, he knows how to open it and gets in the bedroom and wakes up the wife when I leave for work, he literally lays on your head and climbs on you while we are sleeping.
Well, no more. I made a new simple latch out of some scrap, I'll paint it when I remove doors to stain them.

Looks like it ought to hold a cat ok.

Our cat is sorta the same. Likes to lay on you for about five or so minutes, then gets up and goes. Our cat is 17 pounds. Hehe. And he’s on diet food.
Sadly, after he’s gone, no more cats. Or anything. Hehe. I could be gone before him.
If i latched the door to keep him out, he would drive you crazy scratching at the door trying to get in.

Wife was having more difficulty getting up off of the throne so I installed a barn door handle on the opposite wall for a grab.

Get a riser for your wife. Makes a big difference. Carolyn used one when she had a hip repaired and I used one when I had a knee replaced. I am going with a high rise stool later this summer. Ned to replace one in the wood shop so the house unit will go out there.
