What are you currently working on??

Drywall and taping/muding. Pick up the phone and start calling for help.
I worked one big drywall job with a professional in charge. Ten minutes of instruction and two minutes of demonstration made all the difference. Most important thing he told me is all purpose mud is good for nothing. it can be used for anything but is good for nothing. I could not believe how easy taping was with taping mud. Filling screws with topping mud was effortless. Took much more time to find the screws than it did to fill them and sanding the topping mud was often a one swipe job. First drywall job I did that you could not find the seams after paint. Had me fooled into thinking I knew what I was doing.

Yeah, using the right mud is a game changer!

One of my biggest issues is my son was never interested in anything mechanical or construction while he was growing up. He would help me but never took an interest like I wanted him to. Now he wants a crash coarse and learn everything over night. His interest was always baseball, hobbies we both shared and once he got older missionary work. He’s made my wife and I very proud of him. Our two daughters were the same way. You couldn’t get them near the kitchen but once they got married they both wanted to learn everything overnight. I spend more time teaching my son than the actual work but he’s all ready learning a great deal in just three months. We’re definitely having some father and son time so that is what’s important.

I did a lot of sheet rock hanging back in the late '70's and early '80's, most without a jack. One tip I learned the hard way was take the button off the top of your hat! Anybody that tried to hold up a 4X12 sheet with their head knows what I mean. There was usually two of us, but that didn't help much when that button tried to penetrate the brain---LOL!

My wife and I were both off work for good Friday and it is her birthday as well. We went up to Hill City to her favorite restaurant for lunch, then came back to Rapid City to Wal-Mart and I bought her a "roku" tv for her birthday. She had been wanting one in the bedroom, and her old roku box bit the dust a month or so ago. Obviously no tractor work. Spent an hour or so setting it up and I was glad to see we now can get MAVTV! Of course have to be in bed to watch it---LOL!

X2! Glad you got to spend the day together.

X2 Good to get out with the better half.

Thank-you for the Birthday wishes for Loree! I'll let her know! We were both off work today also but we did some house chores then she needed to do some work online so I got to the shop for a couple hours and worked on that Gardenway hydro LT.

This is why I wanted to get the overhead crane back inside again.

That's not gas or oil leaking out of it, but the muffler must have gotten water in it when I pressure washed it last week.

The crank pulley was real stubborn. I tried heat with the propane torch, but there was still enough oily grass debris that it wanted to catch fire. I got my old 1100* heat gun out and slowly worked it off, along with spraying some "Yield" penetrant occasionally. The puller did put slight bends in the pulley but they will be easy to straighten.

While easing that pulley off, to put a new drive belt on, I straightened the deck links and put on new deck pulley brakes.

The ole Sears starter went out yesterday....with one pass left of tilling my sister's front yard. Pushed it on the trailer and worked on it today. Replaced starter with a used one, still nothing. Replaced the solenoid and some wiring and now she spins like great.

Was going to do lawn spraying this past Friday and fortunately I just put water in rather than mix spray up and you'd know it my pump wouldn't pump. Screwed around with it ,couldn't get it to pump..Never really messed with this style pump and honestly don't know how they work exactly. The pump is about 15 years old so it didn't surprise me too much. Anyway ended up ordering a new pump as repair kits were half as much as the entire unit...
So back to spraying the yard... I hope...

They are a great pump. They move fluid quickly. Thats the same pump I use to load tires with washer fluid. I loaded the rear tires for the MF 7 tractor that I fixed the other day. About 20-25 lbs per tire. Gives the little tractor some extra traction on the hills. And the MF 7 is only 32 inches wide and is tippy. So the extra weigh helps with that too.
Sunday morning ramble. Hehe.
