What are you currently working on??

Pulling out some parts to upgrade one of my tractors. The orange weights I traded for, the black ones I bought with a complete 1974 Sears ST16 for $50, I can't remember where the small ones came from. The large ones weigh 22.5# and have no markings so not sure what they came on, my buddy thinks they were AC/Simplicity weights. Best part is they stack so 2 on each side.
The small ones have MFC stamped on them so maybe Massey and they weigh 19.5#. I also got some wider wheels for the tires I have, needed the width. 20240918_191212.jpg

I like those wider wheels my Sears SS15 has them with turfs and chains. That’s my go to setup it will go with you or with out you lol. I have a set of the newer Sears plastic with sand that go on the rears of an LT. I bought them thinking I could adapt them to the front. I haven’t got to them yet.

It is apple season here in Iowa. Have run one 5-gal pail through the peeler, cores and slicer, and cut into quarter. Then into the dehydrators. Had 3 running at one time for a while. One run all night and should be done this morning. Another one will need another couple hours. Going to get another pail full from the top of the tree this morning, Then will be at it again for a couple days. Will get photos later as was working with a new to me dehydrator and getting it set up and running.

These wheels are actually stamped "Can-Am 12x8.5" so not sure what they came from.
I have the plastic weights on the 16/6, but these won't stick out as far. Never thought of the smaller LT weights for the front.

just sold a motor I'll probably kick myself for doing so.... was a hard one to find, when I was looking. Had as spare for my ariens GT19, but it still keeps running and running in spite of being a KT engine...at least that one is a series 2 version. this Magnum 18 was hard to find when I did, I had a 2nd GT19 that had a series 1 KT that I briefly considered swapping this engine onto, when I proved everyone right in that the series 1's don't like mowing on side hills...and windowed it..... but I ended up parting that tractor, since the machine itself needed more than I could put into it at the time....that machine wasn't worth the time of a transplant, without a pretty complete restore job.
and I got a steal on a much better one on Ebay at the time,, while looking into parts for the machine itself......gas cost me way more than the tractor, on that one. For a cleaner tighter machine, to boot.... though in that deal, I had to "step down" to a GT16 but that's OK.... a K341 kas more than enough oats, for what I need.
this engine that just left was a magnum 18 twin.... I have a couple of them going (other one I have advertised, is a vertical briggs opposed) was the one I least wanted to see go away..... I got a 20hp Mag the same day as I got this 18... but member (that we dont see here much these days) "GLGrumpy" decided he needed that one more than I did, right off the bat. so the 20hp version went to him.

but with a younger brother in a hurry to get mom's house sold, and wanting everything from up there to go *poof* and disappear I'm gonna be hauling a bunch.... so some of my own stuff that's just sitting here is gonna have to go somewhere.... to make space at a minimum I know I have 2 outboards coming here.... maybe dad's tools too, if they don't go to my older brother or my son.... got at least 1 bedroom set to move to my mother in laws, WHEN i can get my son to help move them, (he's been on a streak of straight 12 hr days, the joys of shutdown time at a steel mill) and also when it isn't raining...... we haven't had any yet this month/ til today/ and when I can get help, it decides to rain on the only day we're both available.... he's on 2nd shift this coming week. opposite my work schedule. I'm getting bugged and bugged to make that bedroom set and the boat motors go away.... but due to medical issues my younger brother can't help, big brother is too busy working on the place to break away. of the 3 of us I'm the only one who works. Big brother is retired. right now he's up to his eyeballs, rebuilding the back stairway.
(on another note, my older brother and I are content to wait till spring to sell....the younger one thinks we can get it gone before winter.... more power to him I guess.... ) he and his wife are in a hurry to see it go, for some reason. (of which I won't get into here)

I fixed the roll up shed door yesterday up there, and brought home a few 2x6s to cut into new door jambs, on my table saw, for the garage side "man door".... I hate the cheap azz "finger jointed POS that all the local lumber yards like to sell.... and with as big a pile of lumber as my old man accumulated, I don't even have to go buy 2x6s... just a little time cuttin on the table saw. was gonna go up and put that up today, until it decided to rain.
I just did the same job at mother in law's house 2 weekends ago. still gotta go back and put up the outer brick mold trim and out the threshhold back in.... went to fit that while I was up north yesterday, and had to bring it back for a little tweak on the table saw whoever put the door jamb up that I took down there, oughtta be hung.... only thing wrong with the one at Moms is the bottom 8" or so on both sides is rotten.
and then theres the matter of dads table and radial arm saws, I know I dont need a 2nd table saw or a 3rd radial arm..... I dont think my brothers do either (little brother has no place to put them, if he did)
on selling that Magnum I haven't really been able to use the GT19 to blow snow between having a gravel drive, a concrete one that self destructed more last winter than the previous 25 years I've been here, and the fact that last winter I think I fired up a 2 cycle paddle type walk behind once and that was mostly to run it dry more than actually needing something to clear the driveway...... I wouldn't mind another winter like that again this year but I think were actually gonna pay for last years mildness this year.... Im hoping next year is the year I can finally do something about my 2 driveways to make them easier to clear when I do have to..... and Im the guy all the neighbors call to clear theirs.... go figure.

When I parted out the gt19 that I blew up, I hated to.
I had parted another one a couple of years prior to that one that probably would have had much of what I'd of needed to make that 19 a good machine again.
I've since parted another gt16 because of project overload. That leaves me my original gt19, my eBay gt16 and the new Holland.

I replaced the seat on the Cub Cadet 782. The seat on it was a lift truck suspension seat with the suspension removed. It is the deluxe model covered in cloth. I always had to ensure it didn’t get rained on or dew soaked.
Local mower shop acquired several nice seats from a Dixie Chopper dealer going out of business. New at the dealer these are $500+. I got into my G.T. Stash and bought one. Mounting bolt pattern is 11x 11. So I had to drill two new holes.
2& 1/2” inches movement. Suits me all the way back and all the way forward for Edy.
Gave $200 for the seat but it is waaaaay lots better than the replacement seats from a box store.

I pulled my oldest MF 10 up to the garage and pulled the engine out for a rebuild. The last day in Mt Pleasant it started to run terrible and just run barely over idle. It also had a knocking sound by the time I drove it to the truck (5-6 blocks). I found out the knock is from the connecting rod on the crankshaft. I need to do some more measuring tomorrow of engine bore and piston size. The piston rings are shot they have very little spring left in them with lots of wear. The engine bore looks fine but I will know more tomorrow once I get my bore gauge down inside. This engine has been burning a lot of oil also, the engine head is soaked and very black.

What motor does it have ? Tecumseh HH100 ?
I know the cranks are known to wear..

yes, it has a early Tecumseh HH100 with points. I have plans to measure the crank and the cylinder bore on Sunday. I have to work tomorrow, it is not very often I have to work a Saturday.
Dang Ted, sounds like that engine was plenty tired! Back in 2015 when I wanted to rebuild an HH120 no overbore pistons were available. A couple suppliers told me to be prepared. If a .010 or .020 NOS piston became available be prepared to pay a premium and then try to find the rings!

Now with that said, I have seen some aftermarket ones recently, but I couldn't wait that long---LOL! I don't know about HH100's obviously but with any luck what you need can be found!

Nice job Rick that looks like a recliner now.

Could you make this a separate thread as a project so others can follow. So many good topics and projects with a lot of no how get lost in this thread. Thanks and I’ll be watching. I have a sick Tech 16 on my Bolens H16. Hopefully you can get this done reasonably these parts are hard to find and can be pricey.

Just came back from garage sale,-ing, (last thing i need right now is more junk but the wife wanted to go)
I didn't buy much, did get a few things I actually can use/and soon. Like a brand new 6 pack of the round bulbs that my bathroom light fixture takes (and which I can't find locally in the store anymore) for $2 for the bundle.
A guy had some random snap on combination wrenches and I got a few to replace some that have come up MIA at work recently for a whole buck a piece. I've been trying to replace the ones im missing via eBay and they are as much for shipping as the price of the buy it now on the wrench. I did buy about 1/2 dozen from different sellers on eBay at that price last week.
The snap on guy that comes to my shop had a sale on wrench sets from 10-19mm for $350 normally $500.... So I don't think I did bad replacing the ones that I can't find for what I paid.
We went to a local town that was doing the "town wide" deal this weekend. One thing I thought was strange was the number of them that had 3-4, 2 cycle paddle type snowblowers lined up, all for sale. I didn't ask, I don't know how many supposedly ran, because I have a few myself.
At least 3 of that style, plus a toro 421 and bobcat 2 stage style from the late 70s, that i will be weeding out as we get closer to the white $#it flying all of mine do run, don't know about the ones I seen at the sales today or what they were asking. I never inquired on any of those.
out of 5 total that I have I'm probably gonna send 3 down the road before (or just as) the weather turns crappy. Makes me think I'm almost gonna have to give em away to see them go away, when the time comes in a month or two.
