What are you currently working on??

The previous owner made a big effort to quiet that generator! That plastic tank can be cleaned if it didn't freeze and split. I have an air filter that might fit that engine. Came with a carb I bought for a 1973 Briggs 8 HP. Air filter don't fit my engine. Give me measurements and if it fits I'll send it, Nick.
The air filter is about 3 5/8” tall, and 4 1/4” across.

Will be eliminating the electrical power to the damaged end of the wood whop today. Should be fun sorting that out. It is all on one breaker but need to keep two outlets and a light with switch live.

That air filter goes to an old Sears Dry-vac. I had one for years till the motor died. I think it was the smallest model in the late 80s they had offered 2.5hp or a 5hp. Its been so long ago.

Anyone recall this old monster. LOL

It sort of looks like the Hoover dry-vac filter too. I can't find the old filter online anymore . . .

Got the wires sorted out and found the hot wire with no trouble. Problem is it is in the middle of the one room that will be eliminated. Hoping the power comes from the light fixture bop on the other side of the wall. Neighbor pulled in to run the corn across the fence from us. Have the road treated where little dust goes towards the house from the road, but the combine dust comes at the wood shop. Time to quit and watch that monster green machine does its job. 12 rows at a time it won't take long. Will get some photos this morning before they start. I think they have all 3 semies full now.

I had one of them I salvaged from the curb on garbage day. The canister was busted up but I rigged up a five gallon bucket and salvaged the wheels and made a dolly for it. It wasn’t pretty but it worked great.

I’ve never seen that much harvested at one time but what I have seen it’s a joy to watch. I had a guy met me the other day in a truck that asked me if I could back up and pull over that he had two combines coming behind me. I enjoyed just watching them behemoths go by.

I salvaged this door header from an old house years ago and Carol added the glass door knobs. The other day right out of the blue as usual she wants a plate groove in the top of it. She’s had this thing well over 20 years. I routed a v groove across the top.

I have one from mid 90's, the only filter that fits right is from Sears. I rarely use it, haven't plugged it in since probably 2019 when I used it as a wet vac cleaning my cistern.

Went out a took some photos this morning. One semi, a red tractor is either up at the home place loaded or he got it emptied last night and to late to get another one unloaded. Hauling to a large grain buyer about 7 miles up the road. Probably not taking grain today. giving them a chance to get caught up and rested up a bit. They put in some long days, usually 15-18 hours.

Neighbor is harvesting across the creek and cannot get the trucks across the crossing. Has 4 or 5 piles of old concrete laying close to rebuild that crossing so the trucks can cross. Save a lot of time that way. That tractor on the grain cart can just make it between the banks on each side. Standing on the ground next to a wheel I can just reach the top of the tire.

The corn head is a double fold system. Outside 2 rows fold back over the next 2 rows, then those 4 rows fold over the inside two rows. Same on the other side. He has 2 machines like this but only one with the folding head. Usually runs two machines when running beans as they have to travel so much slower. Other head and grain tables he has to trailer. They are really fussy about farmers moving combines with the wide heads on them taking up the whole road with no room to meet oncoming traffic. Don't want to take the time to put the head on a trailer to move it.

This filter ain't even close, Brett. The element is much thicker making the center hole smaller, plus that one is taller and a bigger diameter.

The air filter is about 3 5/8” tall, and 4 1/4” across.

Been a busy weekend, Nick. Didn't get a chance to box up the air filter and get it sent yet. Hopefully the next couple days.

Went and put the camper in storage this morning. Then up to moms to continue getting junk outta there that I really don't need... I'm full to the gills as it is.
My sister in law keeps reminding me about 2 particular items that we spoke for and I still didn't have room despite leaving again with a heaping full size 8' pickup load today. Buried among that was a 115hp Evinrude outboard that's been in dads garage since 97, he died in 98 and it hasn't been fired since. Another something they've been bugging me about getting out of there. Well today I had my son and my other brother there and it took all 3 of us to get it in there. I got it home and got it unloaded myself, it wasn't easy.
I called a neighbor to help me but he wasn't home.
I ended up wrapping a ratchet strap around the garage door header once I had it teetering on the tailgate, and wrapped that up as much strap as it's little drum could take, then repeated with a 2nd ratchet strap, unwound the first one and ratcheted it to its max, and back to the other strap. It does have a loop on top of the power head just for a chain hook. Its bolted to a tall sawhorse I built just to hold this thing back then
Once I got it upright I was able to skootch it into the spot along my garage wall that I cleared out just for it... Come spring time I'm gonna find a 275 gallon mini bulk tank, cut out the top and stick it in there, fill it with water and see if it'll still run. Then see if I can either find a suitable boat that will take that size motor or else sell it.... Just glad I got it offloaded without a side trip to the ER...
Something else my sister in law said my wife was wanting was a concrete duck. I met my wife in the parking lot at her work when she got off and we went to cracker barrel, and she asked me what I was doing with that duck in my truck bed .. when I told her that it was claimed that she had spoken for it she rolled her eyes....
It's still in good shape, but the paint needs redone. It's chipped off about half of the head enough to tell that it's definitely concrete. Anybody have any ideas on what kind of paint might stick to concrete?

Should have posted this before my last post.
We went camping last Sunday until Thursday, was a lil chilly at night, we sure burned thru the firewood at night.... Thursday sucked as does every last day of a campout, the day I have to go home. Was actually pretty nice during the day. We were at covered bridge fest in and around parke county Indiana. We've been there with worse weather in the past. Like last year we came home a day early because it was windy rainy raw AND cold besides. So just a little cold but clear skies and little wind (except Monday, which was gusty at times) I'll take.
Figures though I get home and it warms up once I'm home.
I did have to go out Tuesday night/Wednesday morning probably 3am and swap out propane tanks as the heater was running endlessly but started blowing cold.... Luckily that only took a few minutes to do.

Loree loves this display Carol and you have built! We have some cool junk to build something like that but skills is another story!

Lot simpler and easier to get a pair of the water muffs to test that engine. They are like earmuffs only fit over the water intake ports on the lower unit and attach to a garden hose. I used a pair for the first start every spring for many years. Just a suggestion DT.

When I had my boat I used a clamp that looked like a pair of ear muffs that wrapped around the lower unit intake ports. Then you hooked a garden hose to it.

Carol has a few pieces of those concrete yard art. The main thing is getting the surface cleaned good then most any exterior oil based paint works. The culprit to these are cracks. Water gets in and freezes then they break away everywhere.

Thanks Doug that dry sink in that pic I built that from some repurposed wood from the same old house. Carol seen one she liked that was well over 100 years old and $450. I took some measurements of it and a few pics and built this one for the cost of the paint. I had to strip years of varnish and paint off of the door jambs then ripped them for what I needed. It’s a really nice fir wood.
