What are you currently working on??

I started on another wheel horse today. A C141-8.
Put a carb on it and got a nice surprise when it started.
Immediately shut it off. It was knocking bad. P.O. said it would run, and it did. But he should have told me it knocked.
Got the tractor thrown in with another deal. Don’t have much in it but would like to have known it knocked.
I have a 10 hp on the bench that may go into it.
I had already made up a set of brackets to hang a snow blade on it.
After I get over being p#($$#) I will do something with it.

K321, Rick? That sucks he didn't let you know about the extra engine noise.

I’d check the flywheel Rick, to see if it’s loose. Happened to me once on my LGT 165 ford. Sound just like a rod knock.

Seeing the condition of the machine being in good shape, the knock could be a valve to replace. Long as it's not the main shaft, doing a once over on the engine would be worth it.

Up this way, most wheel horses are rusted and badly neglected. I do not understand why people leave machines outside all year long. It's not too hard to make a lean-to or craft a small shed.

If the guy had told me about the knock I would never have tried to start it.
Pulled the head off. No problem there.
Pulled the shroud off. Check ed flywheel. It is tight and nothing happening behind it.
But if you watch the piston while slightly rocking the flywheel you see a little bit of movement of the flywheel and not the piston.
Must be a lot of slop at the rod/ crankshaft.
Decided to try fitting in a Briggs 18 hp v- twin. Waiting on a 1”-1 1/8” sleeve to change over the pulleys.
I have the crankshaft centerline figured out, north/ south, up/ down. And pulley centerline east/west.
Should be able to use same belt size and linkages. Unless I decide to move engine forward.

It was recommended that I check the balance gears. So I drained the oil and dropped the pan. Saw that the lower balance gear was wobbly. Removed both gears and reassembled. Test fired on the bench. NO KNOCKING, Gonna try running this engine instead of repowering.
I was wondering that when I asked if it was K321, Rick. You didn't say one way or another. Glad you got rid of the knock!

Inside projects this morning. Cleaning up cast iron fry pan, refurbishing an old gas Coleman iron, and a wood frame wood plane that is lacking apart I think I have.
Working on your old junk! I like it, Rog!

Went out this morning and replaced the 1156 bulbs, buckets, and pigtails on the Wheel Horse C141 headlights.
Didn’t have the lense so I made one from a piece of lexan.

Took my Wheel Horse Electro 12 to the local mower shop. The owner said he would sell it on consignment with the snow blade on it.
His 14 year old son (Lucas) fell in love with it. So his dad and I made a deal on it. I’ getting a little cash and two non running Massey 10 gt,s.
Lucas gets a surprise at Christmas.
I figure to be losing a little on the deal but getting ahead on good deeds for a change.:p

Started a new project. Trying to make a belly blade for my custom 1277 Wheel Horse. I was given 3 partial Craftsman bldes.
Two 42” and one48”. One of 42” blades had the mounting brackets and levers. Each of the blades was too tall to fit under the tractor. Icut the top part off of 48” blade and dropped it down onto the lower part. Had to drill two new holes and bolted on the mounting bracket. Skip welded the two pieces together. Had to put on a new roll of wire, and ran out of gas when welding the ends. Have to grind that off and weld it again when I get the gas. If the weather holds I may clean and paint it tomorrow.
Now I have to figure out how to mount it to the tractor.

I finally finished the minibike, thanks goodness. This thing has been a headache, but when ya buy off brand Amazon parts, you get what you get.
I installed a torque convertor setup, inner drive pulley was not machined right, got that sanded/filed out. Everything fit good, went to ride it and belt barely rode up in the driver. Seems this poor little 196cc was governed to the point I couldn't get enough rpms. 2 major issues were they spot welded the high speed spot screw at the factory and the return spring is in the cable between the throttle plate and shielded cable, it will only collapse so much. I grinder weld lose and move shielded cable as far out in clamp to give more more throw. I also did the "zip tie mod" on the governor spring allowing a few more hundred rpm. This thing rips pretty good and when that convertor grabs, it will wheelie straight up. Hopefully my buddy's son will be happy.

And I am to lazy to do any of those things anymore. This time of year, I stay close to the fire and mess with little things in the house. Carolyn asked when the time come to sell all that Cast Iron cookware how you going to do it? Auctioneer friend will do it online. Auctioneer is not that familiar with it either so going through it all, tagging every piece so they have something to go by when it is listed. Few high $$ pieces there you don't find very often. Like a 15" spider leg Camp Dutch oven in perfect condition, with original lid. etc.

Finished tagging the Cast Iron cookware this morning. Carolyn decided I needed to gat it all so her and/or the seller will have a better idea what it is. Started a few days ago and have all 52 pieces tagged plus a couple of my user pans that ae no tagged as yet. Got her new bird feeder up to this morning. Thye have a 1/4 in carriage bolt coming up through 2 of the top braces and out through a 1/4" hole in the top with a finial screwed on it. Real fun trying to hit that 1/4" hole with a 20" hexagon roof piece. Found a new funnel with a bit over 1/4" hole. Enlarged the hole in the roof and tapered it some, then force fit the funnel up into the hole from the inside. Cut the tip of the funnel off flush with the roof. Funnel guides the bolt right up through the hole now. Birds not sure they like that new thing on their post, but the old one is going to the burn pile.
