What are you currently working on??

Last rummage nightmare (sale) we had I put a 5 gallon heavy glass water bottle in it for 5 bucks. Guy down the road said he would give me 2 bucks. Pissed me off as it was cheap already for what it was. I told him I will fill it with water, put it on a fence post and blast it with my 12ga and get more than 5 bucks worth of fun. He got mad and left. Came back later and gave my wife the 5 bucks for it. I'm not good enough of a people person to deal with the morons. Advertise the sale for 8am and they are beating on the door at 6am, wondering why the sale hasn't started! Sorry, had to vent a bit---LOL!

The stuff I thought would leave outta here in the first hour 2 days ago is still here ... Crickets.
Nobody even asking about... Drills saws grinders from the 1960s to the 80s... Stuff that will still be working when today's Horror freight/ box store crap is burnt out and tossed.. not a soul is interested.
Got a Lincoln tombstone out here, the good one with both AC and DC polarity and again crickets. Was my birthday present from dad when I turned 18/39 years ago.

Guess this is best place to put this......

Alan (MH81) says hi. I told him to stop over, but he said life is pretty busy to get back onto forums and such. He posts on our Sears Suburban FB group maybe every 6 months so he's not on social media much.
Tell him hi back, Marty. I texted him a while back but never got a reply.

Took the battery out of the neighbor lady's Murray today after getting back from running around in town with Loree. Looked in and smelled the gas and it still seems like it might be ok. Checked the oil and it was clean but a bit overfull. Are these opposed I/C-B/S two cylinders pretty good engines? Never had one before. I know the single cylinder I/C's were tough engines. Seems like the tires still have air but didn't take a pressure gauge. She said it ran last summer but I don't remember it moving for a couple years. Put the battery on trickle charge and it seems to be taking it. Will let it charge overnight. She must have gotten the battery at Runnings. Dated 2019 with an engraver. Thats what they do here at that store.

I think it must be a hydro since it says "automatic".

The tractor doesn't really seem to be in too bad of shape. If I can get it started I will bring it over to my shop blow it off and check it out better. Don't really want to do it in those weeds---LOL!

Yea I've had good luck with those twin I/C's.
With the foot pedal, I would assume that it's a hydro. I think that's the last era of them making a half way decent power that wasn't just throw away

Me and my dad got the charging system working on my 8n yesterday. He actually did most of the work since I don’t know much about electrical stuff. It would have originally had a 6 volt generator, but it was converted to a 12v alternator at some point. I put a new alternator on it a couple weeks ago, but it still didn’t charge. I guess there is a few different ways that work to wire them for 12v, but the way it was wired before did not seem to be one of them. It’s charging good at 14.7 volts now. We did hook something up wrong the first time and fried the key switch, so I will have to get a new one. We just put a toggle switch that my dad had laying around in there for now so I can still use the tractor. It didn’t seem to hurt anything else luckily. I still have to tie up some wires behind the dash, and we had to add a light bulb too, I guess that has something to do with shutting the tractor off, so I will have to find somewhere to mount that.

And I found a wrench that someone dropped down in the frame in front of the engine. Surprisingly it is a Snap-On!

The next thing I plan to do is get the headlights working. They are not currently hooked up.

Carolyn's trim mower we bought new back in May of 2014 decided it didn't want to stay running this morning. Decided it was the carb so pulled it off and have a new china made on coming Tuesday. Don't pay to mess with those small carbs for what a replacement costs, $13 for this one.

Was at a local swap meet yesterday and spotted a set of 33# wheels weights I thought would fit my Craftsman lt1000 8” rear wheels. Asked the woman what she wanted and she said $60. Enough I thought and left them go not sure if they’d fit anyway.
Anyway did a little homework and found that they would fit and they’re kind of hard to come by and their prices weren’t really that bad.
So I went back today not long before they were getting to pack up not even knowing if they’d be there and asked a different guy want he wanted for them and he said $15 bucks for both.
So it paid to wait another day.
