What did you do with your tractor today?

You will never notice a wrinkle or two when you sitting on it. Doing it for comfort or taking it to a fair ? ? Looks a lot better than what I could do. I usually us some old T shirts for padding and drop a small bathroom rug over them and go. Beats the heck out of a steel pan in cold weather.

Several years ago a co-worker told me another use for bacon grease. Somebody around here was letting their dogs run, and there were piles of dog shoot right at the bottom of our back steps frequently. Co worker said pour bacon grease on it and the piles would vanish. He was right. It worked quite well. I haven't had to do that for quite a long time now fortunately!

Been too cold to work in the garage much. I decided to make a seat for the MF12h I will restoring this summer. The only issue is I didn't have the old one to use as a pattern like I had for the 195 case. After a couple of weeks the back rest is doneView attachment 10228. The bottom cushion needs a little more work, instead of being stapled to wood the vinyl has to be glued to sheet metal.View attachment 10229
Looking good.
The lower seat had a draw string around the bottom and it was cut large enough to go in under.

A couple of small pointers, vinyl stretches, if you take paper and make a pattern of the top of the cushion and only cut it 1/4” bigger all way around, when you sew it with a half inch seem, heat the cover with heat gun or hair dryer from the bottom of the fabric and stretch it on, it will fit very close to correctly. The back looks great! 37 years in the Upholstery business talking.

Thanks, it has been a learning experience but I like to try new things. I did make a different back rest. I have a couple of areas that need fixed.

Started the s16 for the 1st time in awhile, used it to drag the pop-up camper away from my tree as the ice coating gets thicker on the tree branches. Then put it into the garage alongside the gt19 so that what's left of the seat can dry out. I had a garbage bag over it but it mostly blew off. I need to buy a few tractor seats this spring anyway.

Got rid of the snow around the sprocket on the thrower to see what all was entailed into removing the augur and getting the sprocket replaced. Of course it is NLA so will go to my friend at the welding fabrication shop down the road.

Bolens G12 with 42" thrower got called to duty after a repair job. Did quite well I must say. Strong wind out of the NW wiping around buildings was not fun. forgot to blow a path to the barn so may have to get it out and do that. Problem is it is down hill to the barn and that machine does not like to back up with that thrower hanging on the front. Rear tires are filled and chains on also.

Don't hardly split kindling any more. When I fry bacon I wipe out the skillet with paper towels which I throw in a gallon jar for storage. When I want a fire I stick in a couple pieces of wood with a paper towel between light the towel and watch it burn. This will usually even start rounds but half rounds are faster. Don
Burns well & smells good too.

We have actually had three days straight with no rain. I uncovered a few this morning & let them run for awhile. I took the Bolens H16 for a ride, felt good. The Sears SS15 wouldnt start posi battery cable corroded, I'll have to make one. I ran the battery down on the Simplicity 7117. I forgot the PO put a cut off valve on the fuel line. Once I opened that it started right up. The Wally World battery in the Bolens cranked down pretty fast but still started. The date on it is 3-16 so it's ready to die.

After getting home from being out of town for work since Sat, I had to fire up the MF10G with snowblower and blow out 6-7" inches of snow out of the driveway to be able to park the car. In front of my house there is a 4" curb along the street the city will stay our 1-2' when they plow which makes it difficult for the mail man. That area was as tall as the snowblower, I have never had to or tried to blow that much snow before, the tractor and blower handle it so well I did the whole area down to the neighbors drive.

Not much with a tractor other than bringing it up to the shop for an augur replacement with new bearings and chain sprocket. Used the Polaris Ranger to haul 7 bags of wood pellets and 6 pails of shelled corn to the basement. Then loaded it up with firewood and put it in the mud room. Will have enough fuel to run through the weekend and then some. Ranger works a whole lot better than trying to get through 8" of snow with a GT and cart. Just put it in 4 wheel drive, low side and go.

Got the 1512 out and cleared the drive and front parking. Tried to clear a path around the house to the back door, down to the animal barn etc. Got to get more weight on the back. Ag tires with chains along don't cut it. Cannot steer it with thrower down adn can't move it on frozen bar ground with the blade up if not on level ground. Any side slope or incline and your stuck. Run it back down to the machine shed and wouldn't got up the little incline into the building. While moving the hydro from forward to revers I noticed some sparks under the dash by the hydro lever. Shut it down pronto. The hot wire from the starter back up to the dash shorted out, Tape on the loom rubbed through on a brace and melted the insulation off back up along side the battery. Will replace about 2' of wire with about 8" and go direct from the battery. Then put the loom inside a piece of split wire loom for added protection. Fired the G12 up and finished up the snow removal.

Broke new belt on my tractor mounted snow blower. Was working great until I disengaged unit and the blower jumped around, made some nasty noises and belt broke. Everything seems fine, I think it has to do with belt installation???
