What did you do with your tractor today?

Warmed up John Deere LX255, jacked one side up, and got the oil and filter changed. Noticed a wet spot on the concrete and could smell gas. Looks like its leaking around the fuel shutoff solenoid. Might be a bad gasket or just missing. Took the deck off to sharpen the blades. Looks like I forgot to clean it off last fall. Looking at the belts, I think its time for a new set.
Put the new belts on the LX255 and sharpened the blades. The fuel leak turned out to be a pin hole in the carburetor bowl. Swapped it out with one from my GT225 and its good to go. Gave the tractor a quick pressure wash to get a layer of crud off. Put the deck back on along with the bagger and mowed the front lawn.

Don't worry about me......

Mowed my niece's house using the Scag and then came home and mowed my yard. This thing really needs some different tires than the turfs. If you release the hydro levers quickly, then slide even on flat ground. I almost got stuck at my niece's in a spot I didn't known was a swamp. Slid down my hill and put too long strips in the grass:mad:

With about 7" of rain so far I had to do that in my back yard.

I got a pair of AGs and put them on my ZT in the spring.

Much of the day spent outside, raking, tilling, moving the garden hardware out to the sides. Last predicted frost date is May 7th.

We hit 81F+ today. Come Monday, I'll either have a sunburn or a nice tan. Went from the freeze to the fryer, nothing really in-between.

Got a new way to T-posts for garden prep too. Saves me all the walking.

Cut grass yesterday for a couple of hours with the Cub Cadet LT1050. When I was having trouble getting it to spin fast not knowing anything about the bad starters I changed the valve settings s little thinking that would help. I’m going to reset them back to factory settings because it’s a little hard starting. Other than that I’m happy with it. I had to run the push mower way too long by the road because it still had standing water in it. Now today I’ll run the string trimmer for about an hour.

 OH NO. DW said, do another garden tonight!

Wish I had a PTO 3-point tiller. Getting old, walk-behind tilling when done, makes me into a jelly-fish. Can't feel my arms nor legs.

I've had a couple of Flymo mowers for a while but never really used them much. Just got them because I like "different". I'm the only one around with a commercial bobcat walk behind as well...
2 times ago I got stuck, made ruts in the ditches and still didn't get to the bottom. Last time out I decided to try the flymo
Worked great, didn't kill like a regular mower, floated on top. And I was able to stand on the bank, and move it side to side much like a floor scrubber.and my feet didn't get wet, I didn't make ruts and I got mowed all the way to the bottom.
I knew a dealer for them in the late 70s/early 80s, don't see them much anymore. I think they started in the 60s in (I forgot which) either England or Germany. When you do see them and they run they bring good money.

 SAVED tonight due to T-storms. No jelly arms-n-legs tonight.
Not saved anymore, the Jelly-fish man day has arrived.

DW is asking if I can also go double the distance!

I really really really need a PTO tiller.

Once I get the compost down to this level, a few rains in April follow, then it's tilling!

Yes, tilling thru all of that makes you into a Jelly-fish man

Ah, I went for 3 gardens. Now I'm paying the piper. Legs hurt the most, That's now gone, Now sharp pain on the back vertebrae right where the two arms meet. It will take 3-days to recover.

The problem is not the tiller by any means. It's all of the compost atop the soil to work it in. The disc harrow does a good deal of the work, yet it does have limits too.

Ouch right there! It's those back muscles I don't use to the extreme limits unless it's the tiller.

Got the yard mowed again this afternoon after getting home from a doc appointment. Did the trimming too and got the week behind garbage out to the road for tomorrows pickup. I'm tired. The Craftsman GT5000 ran perfectly.

Had an interruption part way through cutting the front yard. The older than me gent from across the street came riding over on his JDX2 something wanting to chat. His right leg is crippled up so he has to ride "sidesaddle" with his left leg operating the pedal on the right side. After we talked about old geezer stuff he asked if I got the tiller working for my '69 JD110. He had spotted the tiller while mowing his sister's yard that lives next door to the east. It's laying behind my shop with the push blade that came with it. Anyway, had to tell him no, that seems like folks think the missing mule drive is worth a fortune. I don't bust any sod so not willing to spend the kind of money I see them going for on epay. Wish I could have helped but couldn't. I should get the JD110 out of the shed one of these days. Thinking about selling it.

Had to be quite a site for the folks driving by seeing two old greybeard fat guys chatting while sitting on garden tractors---LOL!
