Bet the dogs love it, Chris! You made a good investment when the deal for that golf cart came up!I take the dogs for a walk (one mile or more) but they walk I'm in the golf cart.

I'm pricing batteries for mine as we speak Chris. Dam things cost half as much as what I paid for the golf cart..I take the dogs for a walk (one mile or more) but they walk I'm in the golf cart.

I guess I'm lucky as I haven't had problems with either. Take the batteries out of the boat and put them in the shop and the golf cart has a solar charger on the roof with a digital controller. My biggest issue is garden tractor batteries. The one exception to that is the Briggs and Stratton battery in the Farris zero turn. I have no clue how many years old it is (a bunch) and don't take it out nor do I put a maintainer on it as there is no power in that shed. The Energizer bunny must pay it a visit because it just keeps going. If it ever does go out I'm going to try and find a place to buy another one as I think it would be a good investment.Leave them sit all winter, 5-6 months and in the spring they are dead and won't take a charge or hold a charge. Not much different than boat bateries.
I use the golf cart pretty much everyday even through the winter so the batteries are always well maintained. I've had it 4 1/2 years and not a clue how old they were then.I used to hear about the cost of golf cart batteries every spring. You will be "golfing" in no time, Bill!I use the golf cart pretty much everyday even through the winter so the batteries are always well maintained. I've had it 4 1/2 years and not a clue how old they were then.
So I'm not feeling to bad about it. Some batteries are $300-$400 A PIECE x 6.
I did price them "Duracell" at Sams Club for $130 ea.. As good as the other brands ? Don't know and don't care. I'll take my chances. I ain't spending $1600 on batteries.
I used to hate servicing the Rangers at my former Job, Rog. Oil change was no big deal but draining and filling the axles sucked. Had to replace starters a few times too. That was always a battle. I'm sure you have a good system by now doing yours.I use my Ranger SxS as long as I can get through the snow. Once I get healed up I need to change all the fluids in the transmission and drive units.
You know Bill even if you did pay $400 a piece for the batteries you'd still be way ahead. Look at the price of a name brand used UTV and all the sudden paying for batteries every 5 or 6 years doesn't seem all that bad. I gave UTV's a serious look but for the little I would use it, it just didn't make sense. I'd be lucky if I average 6 miles a week.I use the golf cart pretty much everyday even through the winter so the batteries are always well maintained. For the guys who need them they are a great deal. I hate to think how many of them go by here in a week.
I purchased a large 12 volt Deep cycle battery from Wally World a couple of months ago for my trolling motor and so far am quite happy with it. I think it was $140 and am going to try 4 of them in the Golf cart when they need replacement.
I had to change the starter once. After I finally got the old one out, I Shortened that bottom bolt a bit to allow it to go back in without a fight. Have only changed the differential oils once, right after I got it running. I don't use mine for a boat so not real concerned about water getting in. Had to put all the brake parts on the rear end when I got it. Not even rotors where there. Got used rotors and back cylinders from salvage place in Grand Island, NE. New pads. Previous owner used it to plow snow with and really beat it up but I knew this going in. High side is tricky to get engaged. Most of the time I can get it in with no trouble but when it gets stubborn it gets real stubborn. Shifting on the go is a BIG NO NO.I used to hate servicing the Rangers at my former Job, Rog. Yes I am. I'll bet your running six 6v batteries. That's going to make a difference. It's what the cart I had at work used. Bummer. I don't know how far you go with your cart or how your batteries are situated but 3 12v's might be an option. So you're using 4- 12volts batteries.?
Actually using 6 - 8 voltYes I am. I'll bet your running six 6v batteries. That's going to make a difference. It's what the cart I had at work used. Bummer. I don't know how far you go with your cart or how your batteries are situated but 3 12v's might be an option.

They to the point where they're getting tired. After being charged fully and running out our driveway (about 400 feet) they'll drop to about 42-46 volt.
Well, that's a heck of a testing program!Trojan makes the best 8V golf cart batteries. We ran golf carts at the mine for years. We tried every battery under the sun.
The Trojan battery would last 3 years. That was fully discharging them over 8 hours, charging for 8 hours and fully discharging. Every day for 3 years.
Yea that's what I read. Trojan definitely get good reviews. But at 3x the price..tough to justify.Trojan makes the best 8V golf cart batteries. We ran golf carts at the mine for years. We tried every battery under the sun.

I agree. The crown battery is good too.Yea that's what I read. Trojan definitely get good reviews. But at 3x the price..tough to justify.
We had over 200 golf carts underground. They were in constant use. They were great. Cheap, reliable and honest a club car will take an absolute beating. We put 22” tires on them, a block lift, and ran them.Well, that's a heck of a testing program!
