What did you do with your tractor today?

More firewood. We had a few trees come down on our road from the s-word Friday. We got them cleaned up Saturday. The smaller ones I drug home with the Ford, the bigger one was cut up and hauled home on the trailer with the 882. We got them all split Sunday.

Dang you had some heavy wet s-word, Nick! Nice job getting the dropped trees cleared up!

I put the maintainer on the battery last night since we were talkin about it and before more time goes by. It was blinking last night when I put it on and I went down to check it today, and to get the instructions to read them and it was solid green….

I should probably go update my maintainers, Eric! My old Cen tech ones just have a red light on them that tell you a connection has been made!

That is all mine have also, one red light to tell me power is to the box. Thinking of that have to put antifreeze in a tractor and SxS too. Both inside not worried about freezing up yet.

I just love seeing work like this being done. Brings back so many memories of things like this that I have done in the past with similar equipment. Hopefully someday you can do the same. Thanks for the memories.
Glad it’s bringing back good memories for you Chris!

Thanks Doug. Yeah, it was heavy, there were trees down everywhere. Some people still don’t have power. Luckily ours was back on Saturday.

I forgot to post these pics. It was pulling the small trees almost to the ground. This was on our driveway, and it was like that most of the way out the road, which is almost a mile. Most of them went back up after it melted, a few had to be cut. Only one on the power lines, that big one I posted pictures of before.

And it flattened out a dogwood tree in the yard.

My stepdad has the same exact ones as you with just the red light on them Dac, and thats what I also wanted… but I only saw these in the store when I went to get them. Maybe the ones I have are new and updated? Maybe theres 2 different ones in the store and I got the “better” one? I don’t know. I guess as long as they do the job it doesn’t really matter.

Wow, Nick, that was a heck of a storm! Very fortunate there wasn't worse damage it looks like!

The last time I bought a couple of those maintainers was a couple years ago now so maybe they have changed them up Eric. Like you say there could be different versions too. I haven't been to HF for quite a while as I can't walk out of there without spending a bigger pile of cash than I intended on!

We have had a few of those kind of storms over the years. Reminds me to start the generator again to make sure it will run. It still has the High Dollar fuel in it the shop put in when they got it running for me. Just in case.
I better do that with mine too Rog. I had run it out of gas and drained the tank last spring. I always run the high dollar fuel in my small engines and old trucks.

I changed over the blade on my Cub from mid mount to front mount for plowing s-word.

I don’t think the chains I have for it will work with these tires, so I guess I will have to find another set.

Since I had to move the MF7 to get the Cub out, I took it for a ride too. It needed to be run before I put it away for the winter. It’s never been out in the snow yet, so I had to get some pictures.

I spy a couple racecars back there, Nick! Those chains Have some wide areas with no grip and it looks like they may hit the fenders? You are doing your grandpa proud getting seat time on the MF7! Beautiful little tractor.

Thanks for the compliment Doug. My dad just started working on the racecars again. He’s putting the best parts from the two of them on the white car, and getting it ready for next year. He’s probably going to sell the red one, since they got rid of the one class he was running.

The chains are not as close to the fenders as they look. I think they are made for regular ag tires, and the big curved links are supposed to go over the lugs to hold them in place. They are too thick for these tires and ride really, really rough, plus like you said, the big open areas between the cross links. I took it for a ride and thought I was going to get ejected from the tractor. Then backing up the slight incline into the garage the tires were spinning between the cross links. I think I am going to attempt to make a set of regular ladder chains for it.

That "slip-grip" action of chains with too much space is hard on transmissions and clutches even in bigger tractors. I think your idea of ladder chains is the way to go, Nick.

Guess I won't make a detective. I'm not spotting no race cars any where...!
Nicks is going to have to help me out with some pictures..
Probably said it before Doug ...I bet your neighbors keep their shades pulled down...

I didn’t even see the race cars until Dac said somethin Nick, very nice. What are they? Dirt trackers? Sorry, but I can’t tell. and I really love your little Massey too by the way! I’m glad it finally got to see some snow, I love snow tractor pictures. My hydro has yet to see that much snow your Massey got, although it got to see a coating today.

I been working on wetsanding, compounding, and polishing my yellow Craftsman lately. My stepdad is letting me borrow his polisher. Its a little time consuming but its looking like its worth it. It was ok before, but not like I would like it. It had a bit of orange peel in it so I’m tryin my best to get it out. So far I only wetsanded and compounded one side, now I just gotta polish it. For the first time I’m doin this with a machine, I think its comin out pretty good.

That chain style is used a lot in logging and on large construction equipment.
Do you know if they would work on this if I got regular ag tires?

Thanks Eric. They are dirt sportsman modifieds. Your Craftsmans are looking good too, although the hydro looks a little cold.

Nice Nick! They look a lot like the Big Block mods! That style modified is mainly an east coast, New England thing. Dirt modifieds out here are drastically different. These things are almost a sprint car with coilover springs and bigger body! Very cool racecars!
