Its a little time consuming but its looking like its worth it. It was ok before, but not like I would like it. It had a bit of orange peel in it so I’m tryin my best to get it out. So far I only wetsanded and compounded one side, now I just gotta polish it. For the first time I’m doin this with a machine, I think its comin out pretty good.

Large truck tire chain may work out too. May take 3 chains to come up with 2 that fit. I use car tire chains shortened on my GT's.They are ok on the wide bar construction ag style tires, but I think the set you have are a little to big for that cub. I think a ladder style will work best with that style of tire.
From my experience over the years that's an excellent idea. Another option would be a set of semi-truck chains. They would ride about as smooth as your going to get and the links would be closer together. Another option that would help with the traction issue is to hang some weight on the back. Couple hundred pounds at least.I think I am going to attempt to make a set of regular ladder chains for it.
Well Dac, I hate to bust your bubble… but it was already repainted when I got it back 4 years ago in 2020. The previous owner said he did it back in 2007 when he retired. I just put some more paint on top of what was there when I got it, and it had orange peel in it when I did it. I thought it looked good and didn’t really care what it looked like until last year, then I decided it didn’t look good anymore. Thats when I ended up doing what I’m doing now. I’ll probably end up repainting it again at some point anyway, but for now this is good enough. After this is done though, I need to fix some wiring on it. Its all a mess. The lights don’t work, and its held together with zipties. Now my hydro on the other hand, is original paint and I left it alone until recently when I accidentally spilt a little gear lube on the hood and it looked brand new. I then decided to do the whole tractor with the stuff and wow what a difference it made. You should tell that to my stepdad Dac . His 6 horse Craftsman he has looks ratty BUT not all that bad, and its currently a garage find survivor… but he says he’s going to repaint it, which really aggravates me because I think it looks fine and like you said their original once… I think he’s crazy, but its his tractor and I can’t change his mind. Yep, you guys have those funny looking modifieds. I think there are a few tracks in New York that race them, that’s probably the closest to me. I have never seen them in person.Nice Nick! They look a lot like the Big Block mods! That style modified is mainly an east coast, New England thing. Dirt modifieds out here are drastically different. These things are almost a sprint car with coilover springs and bigger body! Very cool racecars!

I was thinking about truck chains too. Then I thought, if I was going to have to modify them to fit, why not just make a set. I watched a few videos and it looks pretty easy. I ordered some chain from Amazon, I got 100 feet for $50. If my measurements are right, I should need a little over 70 feet. It’s probably not the best quality chain, but I’m sure it will last long enough. That’s about what most used sets of chains I was seeing on Marketplace were going for. I think you're really going to enjoy using your tractor when you get those minor bugs worked out. Looks like fun to me.

That looks like it’s in pretty good shape. I would try it.One of these days I need to polish up the original paint on my MF12G like you did on your MF7, Nick. I think the paint job can still be salvaged.

When I was kid I started washing trucks (Semi's) as part of my job. Working with a step ladder a lots of soap I thought I was doing a great job..until one of the older guys came over and said " looks ok kid but do you take a bath and not wash your feet ?" By the way truck tires and wheels got pretty bad but always stuck with me along with washing the freaking windows.

Well that explains all the white crap on the tractor, Eric---LOL! It is still a type of spray bomb!My stepdad was actually cleaning it that day for the fair we were bringing it to. I wouldn’t necessarily say a “spray bomb”, he used a yellow can of Lysol foam spray and sprayed it all over it then cleaned it with a brush and paper towels in the first picture. I also put a picture of the stuff that was used here too….

They were usually the tractors that won the "Tractor of the Month" award to make up the calendar, Bill! Kenny would get tired of me reminding him to get moving on them.
