What did you do with your tractor today?

Moved my MF12 with snow blower out of the garage for more room. Tractor did not want to run right it would just idle. I pulled it back up to the garage and was ready to pull the OH140 out and replace it with a 10hp K series Kohler. I pulled the hook off and while undoing the choke cable I realized the issue. I forgot the choke linkage is backwards :rolleyes: and I was trying to run it full choke. Put the hood back on and marked the dash with correct on and off for the choke and moved the tractor to the back yard.

Choke is backwards on my 12G too, Ted! I never got around to making new stickers for the control so I forget now and then too!

It seems like its always the littlest stupidest things that happen, but I’m glad you got it fixed and you didn’t get so disgusted to swap engines. Like chieffan said, at least it was an easy fix…. Now if I can have my stepdad not get so disgusted with swapping a carburetor on one of his cars for another one like he wants to do so bad :rolleyes:
 
Great day today, weather wise and tractor wise. Today I bought a brand new March of 2025 battery for my new to me 6 horsepower yellow Craftsman I bought in New Jersey back in January. Then I took it for its first ride since I bought it too, and boy did it feel good. It was actually a little faster than I thought it would be….

Currently and finally draining the transmission fluid out of the hydro today, I thought I had all of it out but apparently I don’t because I put it in gear after I drained the fluid and it still moves. There is also fluid still in here too so I’m not sure what to do next. I thought I did everything right, what am I missing? I never changed transmission fluid in a hydrostatic transmission before.….

Wish I could help with that Eric, never dealt with one of those tractors before. The MF1450 hydro was simple to drain, and has no separate tank.

I went to get the Deere out this afternoon. Battery finally died. It won’t take a charge. This would have been its 8th season.

Gave my dad cash and told him to go get one at the dealership. It’s a Deere branded (not sure who makes them). If it last that long it’s worth buying another. Says it’s 172 bucks. Dad said he can get one rural king for a 100 but I’ve never gotten more than 2 years from one of those.

Responding to my post above, here is a picture of a stick that I found in the yard with whats left and where I am I taking this from. Maybe I should drive it around so it drains and goes to the transmission then I can drain it from the plug.

Wow Aaron! I feel bad if I spend 40 bucks for a GT battery! Seems like I get 3-5 years out of the elcheapo batteries. I won't even spend that much for an automotive battery---LOL!

You must have used the stick for a dipstick? I wouldn't drive it around low on Hydro fluid Eric. That sounds like a good way to burn up a hydro unit.
