What did you do with your tractor today?

Out dragging the driveway today. I’d say another day or two and it will be hard. So I’ll keep at it.

No Doug. Enough vehicles go up and down the driveway to do the packing. Courier vans go up and down too, sons girlfriend always buying and selling something. I was just taking pictures as I left.

Was dragging the driveway with the Ferguson and rear blade. I would say that’s it. Hardened up a lot since yesterday.

And loaded some wood in the truck and will pack that in the garage tonite or tomorrow.

Got my summer tires out today. Will change them Saturday. Along with grease, oil, filter and adjust rear drum brakes.

Charged and took the battery for the Ford YT16H tractor over to my sons today also. Will get it going soon. All service last fall before put away. So just start her up and cut grass.

Been a tiring week at work so not much tractor activity. I did go eyeball that driveshaft situation on the MF1450. I need it about 5/8 of an inch longer to have good bite on the splines. Problem is i can't install or remove it longer without taking out the transaxle or removing the pulley assembly and front driveshaft along with the bearing hangers. Looks like a good bit of the tractor has to come apart either way. Lot of work just to see if that thing will move and hydraulics will operate.

Mowed today. I snuck dad's x590 out of the garage and Mowed with it.

The fuel injection is pretty good. Grass was super thick. It's odd how different the motor sounds when hitting thick grass. Normally a regular governored engine you hear the rpm dip then pick up as it opens the throttle more. The fuel injected never changed pitch. It just kept at a perfectly steady rpm.

Power steering is really nice but I found myself wandering a little. It's such a light touch to turn that id over compensate.

I liked it. But I'm still not sold on the power steering.

The techny arborvitae shrubs in the side yard are finally getting big enough it’s time not mow around them completely. The bagger brushes up against the next one over when I go around. I would start damaging branches around them this year, I think.
I will mulch around them and in between. Gap is about 5’. I’m going to use poly and just mulch them with clippings until I can get a semi load of mulch.

I started by the small ones, 6-8’ tall. Ones farther down are 10-15’ tall.

I’m hoping to pour some concrete this year. Driveway, pole shed floor, and shed apron. I plan on adding a compost pad with block walls if time and money permit.

Finished up the mowing with Cub 1512 yesterday afternoon. Cold even with sweat shirt and winter jacket with the SW wind. Got down to the last4 passes and noticed the amp gauge was at 5 amp discharge. Quick look under the hood showed the alternator still spinning so kept going. Got it up to the shop and pulled the side panel off where I saw the one wire from the alternator cam unplugged. They use the bullet type plugs and vibration shook one apart. Washed the deck out and back in the shed till next time.

Last week was mowing Monday its mowing Sunday today.

Looks like rain next week a lot of days. Plus we have to go out to the camp. Father in law left the golf cart key on and I gotta go out and jump it. Then we might spend some time at the camper and lake but I dunno. I hate it out there. Way too boring

Took the Amigo and two friends outside for a photo opportunity.
Need to start cleaning them for an upcoming show.

Pulled the deck off the 782 with blown Kohler. Deck under the CC1512 needs new center spindle, waiting for parts to get here.
Will drop the deck off it and put the other deck on and go after the grass in the morning.

Took the snowthrower off the lgt 165 Ford today. Doors off the cab, rear weigth box off. Tidied up pulleys and wires and things. What a job. Getting harder and harder to do. Tiller was gunna go on today, but that will be tomorrow now, and depending on weather. Tiller is over at my sons place. And it’s just as hard to do, to get on or off.

I dropped the deck off the 782 with blown Kohler. Then dropped the deck off the cub 1512. That deck is waiting for the new center spindle. Put the deck from the 782 on the 1512. Made one round and heard a squeal. Water pump idler pulley bearing seized up and burnt thew belt in two. Belt is no problem but that pulley is NLA. 3" X 3/8 bore, "A" belt. Bearing is sandwiched between two pulley halves and then welded around the belt grove. Can find pulleys the right size & bore but either for flat belt or standard V belt. Might take it to the welding shop and see if we can cut it in two, put a new bearing in and weld it back together again.
