What did you do with your tractor today?

I pulled this MF10 IMG_20220911_144706185_HDR (2).jpgin the garage yesterday to figure out what was causing the variable speed to not work correctly. It would go into the 3-5 range but not in the 1-2 range to park. I ended up pulling everything off including the variable speed control and tower. The only one big issue I found was by the clutch pedal control there is a pin a flat pivot bar hooks onto and it was almost worn all the way through the shaft.IMG_20220917_172954520_HDR.jpgI ended up welding up the shaft and grinding it down round. It should last another 50 years. The tractor is 80% back together, I need to replace the key switch with a new one set up for a Magneto engine. This key switch was never wired correctly to shut off the engine when the key is turned to the off position.

Storms last night took down several limbs around the yard. Got the Sotah out with the FEL and started gathering. Carolyn loaded them on the bucket and hauled them to the brush pile. All done but on tree I cut a bunch of sucker limbs off with a bunch of leaves. Goats love those leaves so will let them have the fun of stripping leaves and bark.

Saturday I used my 1450 to cut the backyard. Since I got my 882 and 1440, it hasn’t been getting much use this year. It was my main mowing tractor for the past few years.

I also did some road work with my 882 and 125 where it washed out a few weeks ago. Saturday after I cut grass, I went and dug the good gravel out of the ditch. Yesterday I spread most of it. There’s still a little left that I have to haul further up with the cart to fill ruts.

Nice job and a nice driveway

I cut grass again with Hoopdy at one of the field areas that’s suppose to be slowing down. This is my second cut out there thinking it was going to be last. This area is where I have been trapping coons. I forgot and left the trail cam on and later I brought it in to clear the SD card. I had about 12 videos of mostly deer and rain with a few rabbits. All of sudden I see this old man flying across the field in a what looked like a demolition race, it was me ! I busted out laughing this poor tractor looks worse moving than it does sitting still. I’ve said it before she ain’t pretty but it’s a darn good grass cutter.

So why didn't you post the video of you in that ugly tractor, Jim?

Nice job on the ramp and a good looking team at work. Just out of curiosity Noel is there a reason you never painted the OSB sheeting on your mini barn. I watch a lot of shows that are in Alaska and other parts of the country North and they never paint it either. Around here it wouldn’t last two years. I built log homes for three years and we used the 3/4” T&G OSB board for the subfloor. We had to literally mop it down with a sealer because most of the houses took close to 6 months or longer to build.

Lazy Jim. I may as well say it right out. Always say, we will paint that soon. Hehe. And your right. Lucky if you get two years out of it. That’s why the ramp was changed, it had OSB on it. Put one by six boards, rough cut from a mill, on the ramp. And all the siding on the mini barn was change three years ago. I have sprayed it with waste oil. But doesn’t help a lot. That OSB should be outlawed. All houses are built with that stuff year round here. Makes me wonder how long they will last.
