Workin' on the Old Tractors

I cheated. I use my video camera and in the editing software I can go by frames until I get to the spark. Then I use the snapshot feature in the program to get the picture.
Maybe someday I will step into the 12st century and do some video work. That's what my daughter does for a living, filming and editing videos! None of her talent came from me---LOL!

I brought the Case IH 485 down to the shop to check out the starter. It barely wants to crank over but if you hit the starter several times sometime you can get it to go. I'm thinking it might be brushes. The starter is located right behind the loader bracket so I think I will remove the left side for access. This will have to be done outside on the concrete pad in front of the shop. This is part of the reason I moved the snowblower tractor inside the shop to make room for this tractor on the pad.

Dang, CJet, how many tractors do you have that aren't on your list below your posts? I THINK I count 34 on that list, but no CIH 485!Looks like a great tractor!

Those are just the lawn and garden tractors and I have acquired more since I made that list. The big tractors I think are around 35-40 + or -. I guess I need to take an inventory.

This John Deere BO had the head removed when we got it and a few parts were missing like the rocker cover, push rods, carb to air cleaner pipe, breather tubes, and the oil cup on the bottom of the air cleaner. We have a parts BR tractor and after looking though the parts I think we have pretty much everything we need already on hand. I set some pieces on to see if anything else is missing and its looking good so far.

Well, if I would have taken the time to actually read them, my dense brain might have figured out they are GT's and LT's, CJet! I just counted---LOL! Should have known you have way more than that around there!

Pulled the Craftsman snowblower tractor out and moved the last 2 Datsun engines. Now I can get to my paying job of painting the John Deere 730 parts. Going to start with the fenders and the flywheel cover to get them out of the way and then go after the hood and grille.

It wasn't raining so I pulled the started out of the Case IH 485. Managed to get it out without having to remove the big loader bracket but it was pretty tight in there for running the wrenches to loosen it up. We'll get it opened up and see what we can find.
