Workin' on the Old Tractors

Thanks, GB. It feels good to have it close to done. Its been dragging on for way to long. Did you use the Kubota blowing snow a bunch this year? We just had the one snow event this year in early Feb. but it did stick around for a while. I think I can safely pull the blower off the craftsman at this point.
Sure glad you can trust grumpy old Mother Nature enough to take off that snowblower, CJet! We will have more winter out this way probably into April. Sometimes it is mid May before she lets Spring happen.

That work on your customers JD is looking great. Maybe you feel like it dragged out but you corrected things like blasting again and dealing with responsibilities of the events that has been happening for you. I'm sure he will be very happy. Hope you can post some pics when it is assembled. Before pics would be cool too of the "hit and run" if this is the same tractor I am thinking of.

We always have a chance of more winter here usually until mid March but normally if we get any snow it won't be much.

He will have this tractor at the show this year. He had it torn down last year and was looking for a used piston to replace one that had a hole in it. He finally found one and has it back together except for the parts I have. The hit and run tractor was his John Deere D. I fixed that for him and didn't even charge him for it. All of the paint for that was left over from my cousins tractor so it was already paid for and it really wasn't to much labor.

You put out so much work I can't remember which is which, CJet. Still nice work!

The Owner picked up his JD 730 parts today. Seemed satisfied with the job. Nice to have it out of my hair. Spent most of the day pressure checking the furnace oil line. Its getting air in the system and occasionally the furnace won't start until I reset it. Capped the line and it held pressure for over 3 hours without dropping at all. Now we can report our findings to the service guy and plan the next step in finding the problem. Glad I don't have to dig up the driveway for a new line.

Not sure what the next project will be but I do need to get the Haybine repaired for hay season this year. Lots to choose from so I'm sure I can find something to do.

The auction got me yesterday so I need to make a road trip tomorrow. Bought a sickle mower that will fit on our farmall C, Super C, or the 230.

Bought a Space Heater for the shop to quickly take the chill off on those cold days. Would have preferred an indirect fired one but the price on those is scary. Figured I could run this for the warm up and then let the wood furnace maintain the heat.

Decided on the next project. Going to weld up some rust spots and paint these Farmall C rear wheels.

Did you buy that torpedo heater at auction too, CJet? Looks brand new. That sickle mower will do a lot of work around your place! Wheel repair project looks like a worthy cause.

The heater is new but its the second one that got delivered. The first one they delivered had some big dents in the fuel tank. They took care of everything and sent another so I can't complain. Fedex delivered and I have had several things destroyed in transit when they are the delivery provider.

I believe the sickle bar mower is a McCormick model 100 balanced head mower. I'll see if I can ID it tomorrow.

The wheels have been sandblasted and waiting for me since late August of 2023. I thought I did them last summer but the dates on all of the picture say 2 years ago. Where does the time go.

Brought the Sickle Mower home. Gotta unload and pressure wash it to look for an ID tag on it.

As to the heater, what do you mean by "indirect fire"? And I too find more issues with FedEx deliveries.
Like this one that has a heat exchanger built in so you can vent the exhaust outside like a home furnace.

Unloaded the mower and set it down on the concrete outside of the shop. Didn't get around to pressure washing yet but so far I don't see any tags to get a positive ID. Happen to have an Operators Manual for a model 100 balanced mower and it sure looks like it.

Pressure washed the mower and welded up the rust holes in the Farmall C wheels. Still need to drill out the valve stem hole.

That sickle mower really cleaned up nicely, CJet! I'm not sure how that attaches to a tractor. Looks like a rear pto drive, but I don't see 3pt mounts. Must be other setups out there I have never seen before.

DAC
This has the 2-pt fast hitch that IH developed to avoid paying royalties to Ferguson for the 3-pt. Those points just slide into the hitch sockets on the tractor.
