What are you currently working on??

Rain moved out early, overcast till around 10 then cleared off. Worked in the yard most of the afternoon, cutting out dead shrubs, hanging bird houses, screwed down a loose piece of steel on a roof. Cleaned and primed the top of the Ranger cab. Flat black is not a good cab roof cover for summer.

Worked on my sister's S10 trying to get alignment close doing DIY alignment for toe. I can';t seem to get it not pulling to the right even though it looks like they are set right. I'll set it up again tonight and give it another shot.

more camber or less caster will cause pull.... the last truck I redid the front end on I sprayed the upper cont arm bright orange and the frame where it mounted and still got 1 side way off.... real hard to eyeball an alignment.
they can be all in spec (read; tolerance) and drive crappy if the cross (readings between sides) is too great and ive seen them with every reading out of spec and drive perfect.
before we had machines with a ll teh specs of any car built in the last 50 years we had a generic set of specs we used on most all cars...
you have it easy/ did you count shims and out the same amount in the same locations as before you pulled it apart?
Is this a 4wd with torsion bars? Check the ride height at center of fender opening, if its not within 1/4" then raise the low side torsion bar adjuster to match the high side.....
lots of Blazers and 4wd S10s I discovered that as soon as I did this I'd bring the readings back to dang near dead nuts.... spent 20 years under alignment racks.

Did you just change the BJ or did you have the control arm off the truck?

Just got my wife's '06 Denali checked out tonight for our trip to Denver, CO Friday morning. All good, but there was a loose piece of plastic trim on the left rear door. I didn't have any black 3M double sided tape like what was on it, but I used white and put a little bead of black RTV over the white that was visible. Posts on the forum will be hit and miss until after Memorial day now.

It's a 2wd. I did not remove any arms, just replaced all the ball joints/tie rods. The camber/caster maybe out, I am just trying to get toe close with the string method from front to back. My sister doesn't have a lot of money, the reason I was doing this in the first place, trying to keep her from having to pay for an alignment and get her truck driveable.
It doesn't pull super bad, just drifts slightly to the right.

Ive seen excess toe cause a vehicle to be squirrelly and of course an off center wheel but not a pull/ but on a FWD with REAR toe out of whack (it wouldn't be adjustable on your truck) it messes worse with tire wear than on the front and can cause the car to dog track depending what is out and in what direction.

Been messing with the lathe off and on. Was getting a lot of chatter and could not track it down. finally found it the other evening. About .002 give in & out on the cross slide. I could push down on the back & it would quit. Take my hand off the chatter came back. Found out there was just a tiny bit of play in the cross slide thread bolt at the outside of the casting. Pin that held the knob on would not drive out so had to drill it out. Then wetn up to 1/8" and put a new pin in. tightened it up good, no free play now. Also bought a set of replaceable carbide point tools. Came today so had to try one out this evening. Not as smooth as I want yet but getting real close. Good thing as it is starting to get expensive.

Have a good time Doug.

Have a safe trip!

Thanks guys, we probably will leave mid morning tomorrow, now it sounds like crappy weather. First we are going to FT. Morgan, CO for our niece's High School graduation, staying there 2 nights. Then to Arvada, CO to my eldest sisters house. She has a basement that's well set for us to stay in. Probably head back up this way on the 25th.

I better get some stuff packed.

I'm 3+ hours from home now too/ came out today and dropped off my trailer full of left over " GT junk" at the site of Saturdays AJ's tractor jamboree, I'm about 40 miles past that, going sight seeing tomorrow another 40-ish miles away from the show, get up early sat and head over to the show, come home when it's done. Drive out was fine except for running into hail along with a monsoon for about 8 miles, could barely see the bug shield on the hood of the Dakota while driving thru it then it quit just like that. Was about 1/2 hour out from home at that point. Got sunny and sticky for the rest of the ride. Actually got close to 90* by the time we got here, I'm about 45 miles east of Dubuque.

Dodge Trucker your a MoPar man so might be interested in the auction coming up later this year. Caught part of it on TV the other day and didn't catch the date but think it was later this summer. Mostly MoPar muscle cars this guy started buying in high school. Buy one fix it and get it running and buy another. Had one large building packed full.. Auction will be at the County Fair Grounds in Red Oak, Iowa, right on hwy #34. Said all cars will be in running condition by auction time. Auction will be September 14, 2019 with aprox. 110 car offered. Google Mussel car Auction in Red Oak Iowa. and it should bring up the photos, etc. VanDerBrink Auctions is well known for selling large lots of old vehicles.
