And more junk.

I didn't get to look around for a cap yet. I did haul home more junk though---LOL! More stuff from the scrap metal trailer at work.

Thought I would try to straighten that trailer tool box. It had gotten jacknifed on both corners! It would be a good size for my trailer if it is repairable.
Couple of lawn tractor front tires, one even has air in it yet, and a pair of hard rubber tires. Doesn't look like they have ever been mounted on anything.

I went to go get the wheelbarrow as I plan to use it for a couple of chores soon, and it was a great coincidence that my wife brought home a new wheelbarrow tire and wheel from her folks moving sale. The tube I put in this tire 15 years or so ago couldn't help the tire splitting open! Rolled it to the shop and pulled the old one off. The hub was wider on the old wheel so I had to build a couple of 1-3/8" long spacers with 1/2" i.d. The new wheel is greasable and has ball bearings so it will probably outlast the rest of the wheelbarrow. Pumped it full of grease and it's ready to haul some crap again!

You know ,,,, you just jogged my memory enough to get up and go look.
I have a box of J.D. stuff up on a top shelf that I forgot about until just now.
I've got a cap that is not in good shape but could be used. I also have the tank straps you need, and a spillage tray.
Do you need a battery tray, or tank mounting brackets? I have another tank, but probably not better than what you have.
The last three pictures are of a J.D. 110 I am working on. Same cap with the gauge bracket removed.
Send me a P.M. if you want anything.

Or having to buy something you know you have somewhere
I did that last spring when I couldn't find my piston ring pliers. Now I have two pair as I found the other one putting the new ones away in a drawer. Why I didn't look in that drawer to begin with has to be because of not engaging my brain the first time when I was looking!

Cool, Rick! I will PM you tomorrow when I can get a look at the battery tray! Might need it too! I don't know what the drip tray is even. Must screw the gas cap down on it?

Thank-you for doing this!

I got 3 different shipments of parts all today for the GT5000.
DSCN4559.JPG

The carb was one order, the fuel tank fitting and grommet was another and the fuel line was another!
Carb looks like decent quality.
DSCN4560.JPG

Got the carb on, which actually needed 3 hands but had to fumble through it. Found the engine stamping so that may be good info to have.
DSCN4564.JPG DSCN4561.JPG

I expected this to happen though. I can't get the grommet into the bottom of the fuel tank. Going to have to pull the fender pan and tank to get the darn thing in. I should inspect it anyway as the PO glued hose into the hole. No wonder it was seeping. Surprised it wasn't a worse fuel leak!
DSCN4563.JPG

I'll try to get at that tomorrow.

Had to work a half day today and almost forgot to go in---LOL!

I got the GT5000 fired up while watching the Bristol night race. Engine sounds great, but isn't idling down properly. I will get that figured out. The thing that worried me the most was the hydro since it quit rolling with the bypass pulled. Worries got worse when I pulled the fender pan off. Thought I was smelling something burnt. It's a non serviceable transaxle.

Kryle Busch just blew an engine!

Anyway back to tractors. The reason the grommet wouldn't go in the tank was because there was a plastic grommet stuck in the hole. Don't think it would have went in without pulling the tank anyway.

New grommet in.
DSCN4574.JPG

Hydro didn't look too bad, fins weren't plugged.
DSCN4572.JPG

Cleaned it up with compressed air and the shop vac.
DSCN4575.JPG

Put it all back together, hooked up the fuel line and filled it with gas.
It started great, as I said, but it shuts off when not on the seat and the brake is released. Climbed on and fired it up. Moment of truth. Hydro lever wouldn't move! I forgot to let off the brake, LOL! It moves in both directions! Backed it out of the shop and drove into the grass. Pulled the engagement knob and the engine killed. Deck spun briefly though. Brought it in the shop and pulled the deck knob again and it spins ok. feels like it is stiff. The deck wheels are in the highest position in the low height hole. I need to drop those wheels and it should work fine! Lot of relief knowing the hydro works!

After it's drive.

There must be a chemical reaction going on in the JD 110 gas tank as it is starting to overflow. Will let it soak longer.

Did get the GT5000 functional today. The throttle wasn't responding as the governor lever was frozen in the block. Sprayed some penetrating oil on it and within a half hour or so it was moving smoothly. Got all the zirks lubed and changed the oil. There is a pretty cool petcock to drain the oil. Stick a hose on the drain barb and open a 7/16" valve. No mess there BUT taking the oil filter off is another story. Makes a pretty big mess on that side. It would be interesting to have an oil pressure gauge on it. Leveled up the deck then decided to try it out again. The deck may be a little too high now, but the blades spin and it cuts! The engine is very quiet, but when the switch is pulled to engage the deck it's very loud! Reminds me of a B-17 throttling up for take off---LOL! Must wear hearing protection. The steering is stiffer than I expected and the turning radius isn't as sharp as expected either. Mowed for about a half hour. Most of the yard doesn't need it so just hit taller spots like on the drain field.

I'm not disappointed though, think I have less than $150 bucks into it and it will do the job. The MF12G still has a superior cut by far.
I went in the house to get my wife on it but she wanted to go to Longhorn for supper. Couldn't argue with that! I might get time to clean up the body tomorrow but going to be too hot for much outside work.

This goes back to the original name of this thread. Yup, hauled home more junk today after work. I got tipped off before this stuff was going to go in the scrap trailer this time and just transferred it from the co-workers truck to my truck!

In my truck. I had already unloaded some misc. automotive stuff.
DSCN4589.JPG

Two horizontal crank engines.
DSCN4590.JPG

This one is a 5 HP Honda.
DSCN4592.JPG DSCN4594.JPG DSCN4595.JPG

The PO said this was a 5 HP Tecumseh but by the H35 number and it's small size, I say 3.5 HP.
DSCN4591.JPG DSCN4596.JPG DSCN4597.JPG

1/3 HP electric motor that runs fine.
DSCN4598.JPG

Then a pair of new wheels from a kids John Deere wagon.
If anyone wants them let me know. Free!
DSCN4599.JPG

I really need to do some arranging in the shop so these engines can stay inside, along with that Honda that is sitting outside right now! Both of these pull over fine, but I didn't get to try to fire them up or check for spark yet.
