So,,,,,,,, the Beepin potatoe bugs have started.

So, bugs not to bad lately. But the babies are increasing. They are the ones that destroy the plant. Left unguarded, the babies can destroy a plant in three weeks or so. Eat every leaf off the plant.

So went back to the pest control place and asked about the product I bought a few weeks ago. They said it woul kill the potatoe bug even thou it does not say that on the bottle. And it’s water based, so it won’t kill the plant. There is a oil based one that they are having trouble getting. It would kill the plant. So, I may try the water based one and see what happens.

Drove around the garden on the 4 wheeler this afternoon. Muddy is the only way to describe it. Have a nice big cauliflower head that blew over. Will get it in the morning. Started to sprinkle so headed for the house. Got a hard rain - close to 3/4" again. That might take out a couple of the beaver secondary dames down on the creek.

Did some tilling today to keep the weeds at bay. And getting some soil up beside the plants for hilling next week. Only a few bugs today. I’m surprised that the bugs are not as bad as normal.
Maybe I’m getting close to making them extinct after years of killing thousands and thousands. Hehe and haha.

In the last picture Roger, when I make the next pass back. The right side of the tiller gets the part in the middle in the first past. Then in the pass back, the middle part is in the already dug up part. So it all gets dug. Hopefully that makes sense. Hehe.

I wondered if they lapped over that far. That is the way I have to do the tilling also. Same way with the walk behind. Wnt to put another br down with a sweep on it to cover that center area.

Potatoes hilled today. No tractor was abused in this endeavour. But my back was. Plants to high to run Grunt over them with 7” ground clearance. And the high crop Case 446 still does not have a sleeve hitch.

Im amazed that there is not to many potatoe bugs Normally a lot this time of year. And I mean hundreds per day. Only less than a dozen today before the hilling. Only another month and they normally start to die down.
