What are you currently working on??

I have a Bolens G9 disassembled and stacked on a pallet, waiting for me to get started putting it back together.

Picked up an Onan-powered Deere 316 for a friend. Came with a 41 deck and 49 blower but it will receive my extra 48 deck. Needs a good cleaning, new ignition switch, tuneup/fluid change, and a seat.

My 312 and 318 repower projects still continue to wait for my attention.

Finishing up the Exhaust on my Cadet 1772 build, ordering parts for the exhaust on my '86 Subaru and rebuilding the carb on it as well.

I put the battery in the 3415S and just touched the starter and it fired and idled nice with just a little puff of smoke. I have never had a Briggs start that easy. Now I am debating whether to change the BGB or the engine in the 7012

I kinda started at the front of my Bolens G-9 by cleaning and painting the front wheels and putting on new Carlisle tires. The originals were Carlisles. The rest of the restoration will be a matter of cleaning and painting everything as it goes back together. I will not need to open up the engine or any mechanical components.

I've got a nice flail mower for my Bolens tube frame that I want to disassemble and restore. Also a wheel barrow attachment and a front reel mower mostly apart. Three projects no time...

Waiting on the cover seal and will be ready to bench test the Kohler 16 I gave a quick ring and valve job on. Want to know it runs before I put it in a tractor.

I have 1886 Bolens that I put a 24 HP Honda in 6 years ago. The hydro oil get so hot that the tractor will no longer move. I have put 5 different hydro's in it and a oil cooler with 2 muffin fans that pull air thru it. Still no help so it has been parked for 4 years. I finally got back into it and I WILL find the answer to this heat problem.

Put the right fender back on Cubby this morning, then took the left one off. Stripped & painted it. Chopped some Birch leaves with the JD F725 mower & shredded some garden waste for compost.

Tried bench starting the CH16 Kohler I been working. on. Got a good pop out of it so know it will run. Started the rebuild of the front end on the Cub 1512. New wheels bearings, putting bearings and thrust washers on the axle yoke for easier steering. Have one front wheel that refuses to com off the axle. Headed for the 20T press in the morning. Will punch out the bad bearing in the clutch while I am there. Cub is parked on 2 jack stands now.

Doing some body work on one of my Dakota's replaced the pass side rocker panel today, old fender and door going to scrap, replacing them with rust free.
Just gotta get the patch panel for the passenger side of the bed, weld that in and and then ready for paint

I got the axle.yoke unit out of the wheel OK. Have to split the clutch to get the bearing out as it was pressed in before the clutch plate was riveted & pulley were riveted together. Heading for the machine shop in the morning to get the axle milled down to make room for the thrust bearing and washers. Checking with NAPA for front wheel bearings. May go with sealed bearings rather than the flange bearings. They are right proud of them at $23 each.

Think they’re proud?

I was quoted $750 (yes, seven hundred and fifty) dollars for a Kohler k341 started yesterday. At Napa. They’re really proud of that one

I picked up a K341 out of a JD 316 and am running into problems in trying to change it to where it will work in a Simplicity 7012. The wiring harness is different, 2 wire vs 3 wire and the drive adapter for the drive shaft. The bolt patterns are 1/2" difference and my question is " can I swap the flywheel from the K301 to the K341?

NAPA had one bearing, 1" X 2", call them Doo Dye bearings? Wanted $44 each. Nope, not today. Went to my friend, local IH tractor repair shop for decades. Had 4 on hand. $18+ each. Old,old IH packaging. Said he has had them for probably 20 years. Very few GT in Cub around. Mostly LT which use the smaller bearings. Machine shop will get the axle milled down today some time. Cleaning it up and making repairs on the 2166 getting it ready to set the engine back in.

I don't believe so, but I'd check the casting number on each flywheel and also weigh them to see if they weigh the same.

After getting an engine swap done on one MF14 and another MF14 running (had water in the gas) I am know working on my MF10. Using it Sat mowing and all of the sudden there in no tension when moving the vari-speed handle. I checked and made sure the spring under the mower is still attached and the spring for the idler has not broken. I will have to mess with it more tomorrow and try to figure it out.

Please let us know what you find. If it happens on my 12G it would be nice to know!

Thanks---DAC

Sound like a the variable pulleys are not moving. They get dry and hang up. Hopefully a bit of oil will fix your right up.
