What are you currently working on??

So. Have to take the box off me truck. Bunch of rust. Box dropped last year on the front left corner. I did a quick fix you up. So, will see what I’m in for. Can’t go get a box off island, because travel not allow. And no good boxes here in Atlantic Canada anyway. Southern US rust free box would be good. I can paint it to match. But,,,, no body goin to US for that stuff now. Plus a used box would be 2011, which would be the newest. So selection is limited. Any way will see what I gunna do. And have too check frame. Could be some sort of wooden fix on box. That’s what my father would do. Never gunna look new again, Hehe. It’s amazing over time how a person is like their father.
Dang it Noel! That truck looks to be in great shape in the pic too! Hope you can figure a way to do the repair without having to buy a whole new box. Wonder if any panel kits are available since it seems to be a common issue?

This is how they go at the front of box, between cab and box. This is why the box drops at the front corners.
This is not my box, just a internet picture. Was for sale in NS. Fella wanted $300.00 for it. Hehe.

Cross brace is gone. This is what holds up the side of the box. Where red lines are. People blame it on the box liner. If you have one. But the box liner dose not cover that place.

Decided to till the garden, seems like this year is a fix stuff before I can use it type of year. My son used tiller a few weeks ago on a landscaping job, the mount for the depth wheels cracked off. My welds suck anymore, hard to see well anymore even with bifocals and a 2.0 lense on my hood.
I also got to clean out the straw netting the boy didn't clean out from his job he did, ggrrr.

Next up I gotta figure why the D722 Kubota diesel on the church's Grasshopper is leaking fuel around the throttle arms. They go into the inside of engine so im wonder if a line is cracked and spraying/dripping fuel on it.

I know a guy that buys wrecked Rangers, repairs and flips them He was doing 6 or 7 a year for while! He would save parts and use them on future jobs. He made a lot of money doing that since he specialized in one type of vehicle. Haven't talked to him since to took a different job though.

Bifocals are always in the wrong place for welding, you can only use them to focus on the inside of the hood. I always use reading glasses any more.

I finally had enough of stumbling around and over crap--I mean my fine quality belongings--in my garage. I emptied most of it, scrubbed the floor with purple power, spayed it with bleach, painted the walls and cabinets and added LED lights. Then I put my 52 on dollies and moved it to the side. It's like new to me now AND I can walk and work in it without fumbling around.

I thought I was the only one whose welding got worse as I get older. I blamed it on not seeing well. Better with stick after arc struck. Much brighter.lol

I looked up replacement bed side panels. They want 555.00 for each side. Thats crazy....

I found a whole rust free 2008 Ford Ranger at a local lot the other day for 4500.00 4x4 regular cab, 130k miles. I wish things weren't so uncertain at work. I would buy it and sell my other Ranger to make back some of the cash. But I can't justify taking the cash out of the bank right now.

More pictures of box. And my temporary fix. More when box is off.

Waiting outside the local starter rebuilder, sign on the door saying 1 customer inside at a time because of the covid crap, gotta drop off the starter generator from my cub 129
Seems weak and I busted off a stud
I could go thru it but I'd have to get the parts from them anyway

Son called this morning and said the seal I pushed back on the crank shaft only lasted a hour till it popped out again. I need to dig into the crankcase breather to see what is plugging it up. The top of the engine was too dirty to check it last week.

Yes. It was a factory carpet. But it did come out to here.
