Wow, that could have sucked, Roger! Good thing you remembered! Hope I'm remembering everything on the K321. Brief report in my MF 1450 thread. When I put my Briggs L head together if got the two pistons in the wrong holes. Forgot I turned the engine around a few days before when working on it. At least I caught it.
Boy that's a truth! Got it home. Put a good battery in it. Cranked over real fast. Sprayed some carb cleaned down into it. No help. Pulled the plugs, checked fire. Plenty of fire. Finger over plug hole, no compression. Pulled the valve covers, found one push rod not connected. Lash at about .100" on all the others. Went to set lash and found both the intake and the exhaust opening and closing at about the same time?????????? WTF! Think this engine has some internal problems. It's a B&S 407577 OHV twin.Old saying Kenny, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth".
Good looking job on a nice project. Miesel Hdw. has some nice plans and movements. Have used different ones of them. Last one was a Cathedral Dome clock. Took a full winter to build it. Most was out of 1/4" birch plywood something like 4 1/2 - 4X8 sheets.Finished up my "winter project" today, a "Grandchild clock", 29" tall:

I bet that was a thrill to find out you lost your engine bolts. I see you have added that cross brace on your frame. I’m slowly getting a 1250 back together. I bought it real cheap because it had a broken governor rod. What is your preference for the engine mounting pads. I had these recommended but I haven’t decided yet.The last time I cut grass with my 1450 last year, it was shaking more than normal. I stopped to check it, and I could move the motor around. 3 of the 4 mounting bolts were gone, and the last one was loose, so I parked it. I got it in the garage this week and pulled the motor out, and cleaned the oil off it. It looks like the bolts just fell out, and didn’t break off. While it is out I’m also going to fix some leaks.

These are the ones I used, they are currently out of stock: New Cub Cadet ISO Motor Mounts 1000 1200 1250 1450 1650 | eBay. I got a gently used set along with some other parts from a guy on another forum who put them in, then decided to part the tractor out. They have been in there almost 3 years, used weekly for mowing. I have no complaints. It shakes a bit at low speeds, but smooths out over half throttle.I bet that was a thrill to find out you lost your engine bolts. I think you mean a lock washer, they thread into the oil pan. I’m already planning on it, along with some loctite.Might want to put a locking nut on those bolts next time.
Throw the bolts away! Use studs, red locktite and nylocks. If you value your fillings, dont use poly bushings. Use originals and dont overtighten them.I think you mean a lock washer, they thread into the oil pan. I’m already planning on it, along with some loctite.
