What are you currently working on??

Today after work I jacked up the 1972 cab over camper and got the 1972 GMC out from under it. Poor old truck needs some maintenance. I parked the two LT's under the overhang of the camper. The MF 1450 had a dead battery again. I need to make some time to figure that out too.

I swapped out the blown headlights on the Elec-Trak E12s. They took a 12 volt 1076 bulb. Which none of the auto parts store had in stock.
After researching online I should have gone to a RV dealer. Turns out that they are used in campers. Looked on Amazon and found the LED equivalent and ordered them. They are supposed to be 3 times brighter, and were not any higher priced. Came in a 4 pack, so I may replace the ones in the E14 also.

I have been thinking about replacing the seat on the Elec-Trak E12s with a wider seat for two. We would like to use it as a butt buggy. I have some old school bus seats, but they are actually too large overall to look decent on the tractor. It stuck out wider than the tires. I turned the wheels around and made the track width wider but still didn't like it. I may have to cut down the frame work and cushions. then sweet talk the wife into recovering it. She did a great job recovering the one for the sulky.
G.E. actually had a "Golf" option for these tractors back in the day, but I'll never find one. Will probably try to replicate it.

Didn't really do anything tonight after work. Spent 8 of the 10 hours on the job out in the heat and sun so I'm beat. Had to look up some info on FB regarding a funeral of an old friend we need to go to and then ran across a couple of items on Marketplace.

First I saw this JD lawn tractor for 150 bucks. 13 hp Kohler Command "needs overhauled" it said. Comes with mower deck.

Then this Johnson FEL really got my attention! Says it's for a garden tractor but don't know what kind. Looks to be all there but no control valve. Could see the pump in one of the pics. $1400. If I had a lot of spare change, it would be fun to have it on the MF1450!

The STX38 was a good tractor. My grandfather bought one new. Can’t remember what year. Early 90s. It ran for a long time. He passed in 2002 and it was sold to a friend of my dads and he ran it up until 2013ish when the rear end went out. Rather than fix it he scraped it.

Being a vertical shaft you could probably fit just about any brand in there without doing any major modifications. It’s a shame predator doesn’t offer anything like that.

Sounds like that little tractor gave many years of good service to two families, Aaron! I'm still thinking about an engine swap on that JD160 that's sitting out back. I've got some vertical crank options laying around here but as usual, time is the problem. I think Predator did have some vertical crank engines at one time, but not any more.

That's a pretty cool history on that tractor, Rick! I'm glad you didn't part it out !

Ran around in town on errands again and I usually avoid downtown like the plague but had to go right into the middle of it. There was a "Pride Week" rally going on to so it was mobbed. Glad my stop was a couple of blocks away from that.

Didn't do anything tractor or truck related when I got home and it was too hot to be outside for any length of time. Did a few hours of design work on the computer for some headstones on my wife's side of the family.

Worked on the air compressor and the Huskee GT; good news and bad news.

I plugged in compressor, had to reset the internal breaker and it fired right up. Ran for about 30 secs then quit. I had to reset the breaker again ran for maybe 5 secs then quit again and I could not reset the breaker. I just pushed it in the barn, I'll work on it in the future.

Huskee,,
The good- it appeared I didn't have fuel because of pump so I began to change it. It hit me I better check fuel again although I thought it has some old stuff in it. Nope, almost dry so put some in and it started pumping. Still had to change it as it was squirting fuel out of the breather hole in front. I changed it and after some cranking it fired up and actually ran really good. PO must have ran it empty before he put it away. I also drove it a little and kicked in the deck. Things are squeaky from sitting, but it actually cut pretty nice.

The bad- I tore apart the front spindle to see what damage I have, not good. The plastic bushing are completely worn out, the hole for bushings is wallowed out, nut on steering rod wore a hole in top of axle, and the spindle has a groove in it. I found replacement bushings, but I also found some used complete axles on evilbay for $50 to 100. I may just go that route and save the hassle trying to weld up and fix this one. There was no evidence and of the spindles or wheel bushings ever getting a drop of greass/lube in their life. I think this is a 2001 model.

I did find out the newer model Craftsman hitch that I got from Val a few years ago fits on the rear frame. With a few minor mods, I can have a manual sleeve hitch on it

Sounds like you got things figured out Marty. Could that compressor have a bad regulator. I have a little light weight Senco I use for small jobs or quick repairs and it shut itself off the same way. My regulator was bad and was a cheap fix.

Since I used my dads mower and got Hoopdy I know now why so many users of these little mowers have more than one. I’m trying to educate myself on some of these. Some aren’t good, some are, and a lot have factory weak points. One thing I found out a lot of them are the same tractors so parts will interchange.

Decided to detail my wife van. It hasn’t been deep cleaned since it was new. Hauling around 3 kids takes a tool.

Swept everything out really good. Used chemical guys citrus upholster and carpet cleaner. Sprayed it down. Drill brush. Then used the green machine scrubber with hot water to suck out the soap.

did all the carpet. Scrubbed the leather seats with the same cleaner. But just spray on and scrub with a microfiber cloth. Then I used the same company’s interior plastic clear. Then used their UV protection and shine spray.

very happy with the results. 4 hours worth of work. It needs swept again to be perfect but I am very pleased with the results.

one night I am going to clay bar the paint, use the DA with some good compound to cut out the swirls and imperfections then hit it with a sealant, then a good quality wax. That’ll take awhile!

I have a friend that uses a clay bar on his vehicles they are immaculate.

Clay bar alone will remove any really stuck on dirt in the paint.

I like chemical guys products a lot. 3 years ago someone bought me their starter kit. It had 6 different cleaners, a soap, a bucket and wash mitt. I have great results using their products. Through the summer I usually spend a decent amount of time polishing and cleaning my cars. Then during the winter I just spray them off at the car wash every so often.

I use their clean slate wash. It’s supposed to remove all old wax from the vehicle.

clay bar will remove any really stuck in dirt from the paint. Then I move to the DA and a clear coat correction cutting compound. This pulls all the swirls, holograms, acid rain marks, etc from the paint. Then I move onto a wax. I have a few different ones they all seem to produce the same results.

When you are done you should have a paint job that looks like a mirror
