What are you currently working on??

Worked on the kitchen sink drain this morning. Removed the auto vent gizmatchie and put a plug in. Plunged heck out of it for a bit. Removed the plug and it drained. Put the auto vent back in and two sinks full of hot water and drained good again. Going to move some plumbing though. Comes out of the P trap, 3' to the wall vent pipe up an down through the floor and back 3 foot to turn 90° into the drain line. Have to crawl back in back corner to get at the vent. Heading out to the shop and work on the Ranger.

Nite before last, had to declogify the bathroom sink. Found a new life form in there. Named it Harry.

Ended up having a migraine all nite. Just woke up feeling a bit like I’ve been thru the rabbit hole, but at least the headache is almost gone.
Real doozy. Lights, pinwheels, flashes with the eyes closed and every noise triggered nausea.

Trying to get up to salvage some day. We will see.

Ended up having a migraine all nite.
Sure hope your getting over that headache.
I have silent migraines. No pain just some pressure and I start loosing my eyesight. Starts going gray around the edges and moves to the center until its like looking through two tubes. Then that gets blurry. Kind of scary but it always seems to come back after awhile. Another reason I quit flying. In the car you can pull over, in a plane not so much so.

Was back on the Ranger yesterday after the kitchen sink ordeal. Wanted to get the front blade off and out of the way. Had an oil catch pan under it for the transmission when I got there. Decided to move it to the side so used s 4' stick to slide it ou and - YEP ! - D @#n pan hit a rock and upset. A pint of oil can sure make a big mess. Drove to the place to park the blade, laid the pins on top of the slanted hood, blad wouldn't drop sop jerked it a little and it fell. Got in an drove off and now I get to use the wheel magnet to try and fin those two pins. Found the fill hole for the front differential and it takes a 5/16 allen head socket and U-joint to get to it. Tool hunt first thing in order. They sure don't build these things to work on. Polaris's idea of checking the fluid level in the front end is to drain it and put in 5 oz.

I'm working on passing the time - waiting until its warm enough to fire up a motorcycle.
Recently got the Indian motorcycle in the glass case in the toy room of the new house. Had to remove the bracket I made to raise the handlebars so my over-six-foot carcass could ride it. That bracket made it too tall to fit in the case. Haven't ridden this one in almost 15 years anyhow but it hasn't been that long since I had it running.
My last motorcycle was a 49 Indian. Loved it and would love to have it now. That was in the sixties just before I joined the service and crossed the pond.

Just been down at the shop lately working on GT's, but next month I'll be tearing off the drywall from the front wall of the living room to repair termite damage. Hoping it's mostly confined to that wall. Too busy with Dr appointments to start this month. I hate drywall work, but can't afford hiring it done even if I wanted to. But long as I can do things myself, then I will!

Yup I hate drywall repair too..... I can cut and hang it just fine but even if I have to rob a bank the next time I need mudding and taping I will call someone else in at that point. I end up with more drywall mud in the air and on the ground than remains on the wall or in the joint. Reapply and repeat

I worked taping and mudding the walls in a new addition for a church once. Had a professional there giving help and advice. When it came to buying the mud his advice was all purpose means good for nothing. buy taping mud for tape and topping mud for the finish. That and a few other pointers made all the difference. Don

A main project yesterday was for our son to hang around our house on his day off to get a "SIM card" from fed-ex. It's for my new phone that the family gave me for my birthday a month ago. Due to my messed up work schedule in December, I didn't get to try and activate it until last weekend. We got the number transferred from my old phone without too much difficulty, but then discovered wal-mart had not included a sim card. Called back the service provider since wal-mart said they would send one free. For some reason the provider requires a signature when a card is delivered. In the mean time my old phone pretty much bit the dust as no one could hear me talk but I could hear them fine. I only had one charger that would work in it too and that took a lot of wiggling with the plug.

Anyway back to yesterday. My son got a text that fedx would deliver by the "end of the day" so it sounded like our plan would work. I got home from work yesterday and he said they were a no show. Evidentally fedx's idea of "the end of the day" is 11:52 the next day. There was a note stuck to the door stating they tried delivery. They will try 3 more times. Hopefully it will be tomorrow or Monday because I will finally have a business day off work. We had plans to go goof off a bit tomorrow but it sounds like we will be stuck at home waiting for fedx on what sounds like a beautiful day.

Sorry about the rant! The main thing I miss about the cell phone it seeing what time it is! I haven't worn a watch for ten years---LOL!

Got a text from the mower shop saying my blades were in. I didn't think they had even ordered them yet.
This afternoon I installed them on the A.C. 207E. I spun them by hand first, to check for clearance issues and ensure the tips were level with each other. Then I fired it up to see if they would fly off easily. Thankfully they didn't!
Now I have an empty lift and need to decide what to do next. Rick

yeah I'm fed up with fed ex.... I know that I won't use them if I am the sender.

I use the Wal Mart watches for about $6 each a year. Lots cheaper than a smart phone. Sim cards are sim card and can buy them about anywhere.

I asked my father in law how he survived so many years flying. "stay over water" One of his planes was a rear engined unit fondly known as "the flying coffin"IMG_1331.JPG

What did he recommend for taping mud? Never heard of a taping mud.

I use all purpose for the whole project, but recently considered buying a toping compound for my last coat as its easier to sand.

Thin for bedding tape. Less thin for 1st coat, topping coat. I usually only do tape then do 2 more coats each wider than the last. 4" taping knife, 6" than an 8" for final coat.

I am no professional! Just a do it yourselfer!

When they did the offices at the plant there was no sanding at all. The only thing they used was sponges and it turned out very nice. I've never seen it done that way again. Tried it on small projects at home and it seems to work good.

He came in with a 50lb box I don't remember any brand just said taping compound. The way he explained it was, this stuff has more clue in it to hold the tape to the wall but that makes it a lot harder so more difficult to sand. Use the taping mud in the taping box or "banjo" Once down the seam with the tape, Used an 8" blade for everything. Taped and covered screws one day and returned the next day to sand. Sand just enough to knock down any obnoxious high spots then go down the edges of the tape with the topping mud, don't worry about the center at this point What you are spreading now should just cover the edge of the first pass and extend out about 6 inches, one pass down either side. On the outside of the pass you should not be able to see an edge to the mud. It has to just transition from mud to wet Sheetrock. If you can see an edge no amount of sanding will compleatly hide it. Once the passes down the sides have dried you do the last pass down the middle. Done No further work necessary. Using this procedure I was truly amassed at the results. For the first time in my life I had taped Sheetrock and it looked like I did it on purpose. Don
