What are you currently working on??

I thought the same thing but found out different. I think they would work OK on the rear and will check that when I work on the brakes back there. Polaris is kind of like John Deere protecting there manual information. Haven't found a parts break down, diagram or parts manual for the Ranger yet. Available through Polaris dealers though.

In typical Tahoe fashion, I waited until last minute to install winch/snow plow.....winch won't work, crap!. Took motor apart, one magnet came lose from housing, stuck to armature. Okay got another winch, I'll swap housing over. Nope, magnet lose on it. Bring them in, JB glue both, put on winch, neither will work, crap again!.
So turned to the back blade, I broke it last winter plowing. Of course i didn't fix it when it was warm so 32* and I'm out cutting and welding. I didn't like how the blade sat on ground, always at and angle so I cut brackets to make it more level. Then I added angle on cross bar where it originally bent and also to connecting arms. I got my cuts off and my welding sucks since my vision has gotten bad. Didn't help metal was really cold. Pretty hack job, but it will hold, pushed 4" of snow last night.
First pic is how it was, i made it level, you can see the angle it was at from the cuts.
2nd pic is all finished. 20190112_163640.jpg20190112_174835.jpg

Cubby now has new rear shoes, 9.5 x 24 Firestone turfs, $985/pair with new tubes from a local tire shop! New fronts should be here tomorrow, I'll mount them myself.

Drug the wet snow off a couple roofs. Never been concerned before, but with 8" of wet snow on them & more on the way they didn't need the extra weight. Got out my old homemade landscape rake & wired on a scrap piece of tempered hardboard to drag the snow off.

Tahoe, I think HF still has their 2500 lb remote winch on sale for $50. For that price not worth messing with an old one this kind of weather. I have had two on trailers and they work good. Still using one.

Put a new ignition switch in the ranger this morning. Spring broke in the old one and would not return from the start position. No room between the seat and dash to do much.

.

Picked one up for $49 last night. This new one has remote so I maybe running all new wiring for it too. Need to get it installed in the next couple days, we are predicted to get another 3-4" on Saturday.

At a HF sidewalk sale, I bought a 2500 winch in damaged box for just $20, and a 3500 for just $40. I used the wireless remote system on the 3500 so I could load GT's and lighter items onto my trailers while I sat on and steered them. Both winches ran on the same size breaker, so no issues there. I'll use the wired control setup on the 2500.

That was a good score, Daniel! I have used the 5000 lb. winch on my trailer several times! Even pulled my daughters Blazer up on there with it!

I havce the 2500 lb on the front of the Ranger, hard wired in. Can't see anything of it from the driver seat. Was on for a blade I took off. Will leave it just in case ? ? Pulled the cable clear out and had the Mrs run the switch to wind it back up even and tight. Run the cable through a rag soaked in waste oil

You guys talking about those little HF winches reminded me a co-worker gave me one a couple years ago. I went to go look for it to see what it's rating is and guess what? I can't find the darn thing! This weekend I will have to crank up the heat out in the shop bay and look for it. Kinda chilly out there. I'm thinking maybe a blade lift for the new setup I want to build for the MF8E.

I haven't done any mechanical work on tractors or old trucks for a week or more. I've been working the old XP computer pretty hard scanning and doing a simple restore on old family photos for a couple hours after work every night. One good full day and should be about caught up! Taking a break from it tonight though.

I have a superwinch 3000 lb ATV winch that my son bought me for father's day several years ago, I had been looking at them around then, the local farm and fleet had them on a clearance sale, I wish that I had gone back and bought a 2nd one just to have.

I mounted an old Craftsman hand carry tool box- remember the silver/ gray ones that they sold a gazillion of in the 70s and 80s,---to the tongue of my trailer, and cut a hole in it for the cable and hook, I attached a piece of conveyor belt material over the hole to keep it dry within.
It is just wide enough for a GT battery mounted sideways at the one end, and I wired a 10 ga wire from the 7 wire trailer plug to it to keep it charged while I'm driving. I've had that winch for~ 7-8 years now, never any problem. I think that they were selling for either$44 or $49 at the time, shortly later they restocked the shelf with another that looked identical but they jacked the price up to double what my kid paid for mine

I'm on hold on my kitchen for this week. Going to tie back into it maybe tomorrow. Do a little deconstructing on the wall by the chimney to prep to build the pantry. Almost out of material. I think I have 4 or 5 2x4s and 2 and half sheets of drywall. So I'm a little hung up.

With the weather and a 2 wheel drive truck I'm not gonna mess with going to lowes to get more stuff till clear.

Offsets are such a pain. So many vehicle rims are vehicle specific. Not like it used to be when a Ford rim could be mounted on any year or model ford.

I hear that.
We have a transit at work. Boss wanted to get second set of rims for new winter tires. 300 ea. Ok, junkyard.150 ea. Ok Amazon. 100 ea. Found out by happenstance that the such and such years of fiesta had a 5mm further out offset. 55 each.
They could sell them AS transit rims because they were 0.197" to further out. SMH

I sure hope after all that effort it works OK for you.

Thanks Chris, it is going well, just time consuming! I would have given up after the first 10 pics or so If I had to do it on this piece of crap Windows 10 program. I didn't count yet how many pictures done so far. Once those are all on the XP computer I will send them to an expansion drive then they will be usable on any computer. My wife and I had errands to run all day so we didn't get home until around 3. Scanned and edited a couple of hours after that though.

Didn't get time to hunt for that darn winch!

My son stopped by yesterday and we put the blade on the 7012 and the ag tires and the weights. He needed something to plow his drive with. My neighbor has come over and blowed my drive clean for the second Sunday.

I still have to get my walk behind out and make some paths in the back yard for the little critters.

got 2 old computers that I am gonna be getting rid of, just gotta remember to pick up a thumb drive or 2 and strip off of those what I want before they get the heave ho, mostly just the pix stored on them, and go thru the "docs" section and see if there's anything important there that I need to hang onto.... need to do it soon as right now they are trip hazards and dust collectors.... this one has been doing some screwy things on me lately too, its only 1-1/2 years old, I think it is Windows 10 now that I think of it.

I'm sure glad I hung on to the XP computer after I got this piece of crap windows 10 one. Internet use is ok with it, useless for anything else. My scanning and photo downloading from SD cards will be done ONLY on the far superior XP photo/scanning wizards!

Finished off scanning and editing 187 old pictures from the 1950's today. Getting close to done for now.
