Wife's '06 Yukon threw another code, "Service Stability" and the ABS and Traction control lights came on. Fortunately a co-worker had his Blue Point code reader in his car. His will read them all, mine is a cheapie that will only read engine codes. I borrowed it and it looks like the right front wheel sensor needs replaced. I can get one local for about 65 bucks so will probably go that route. It can get done this weekend then.

Went to start the Bolens H16XL with a Tech engine. Battery was down to far to turn it so put the charger on it. After dinner I tried it again and flooded it. Forgot this one likes very little throttle to start, to much or too much choke and it floods. Got the plug dried off and it fired right up. Both front tires were low and of course one valve stem was right behind the spindle. Had to move the tractor about3" to get at the valve stem. One more warmed up good and ready for snow duty as it keeps the 42" blade on year around.

Replaced the electric start button for the Sears Snow blower. Contacts on the original switch was toast. Had an old heavy duty push button switch from something so made up some jumper wires and mounted the push button outside the box. $55 for a new one with the starter. All I needed is the start button. Machine has not had more that 5 hours run time so probably only started the machine 4 or 5 times at most so why would I want the starter? My son had it and had no use for it so I bought it off him.

Got that code cleared on my wife's '06 GMC . It was a little more involved though. I took today off work. The code was a bit confusing as the number indicated right front, but the written description said rear sensors on the digital readout. I was able to get ahold of another friend and put it on his code reader too. It verified right front. The guy I borrowed the first code reader from told me a bad wheel bearing will take out the sensors. Sure enough, the second friend jacked the truck up and the wheel bearing was pretty loose. Went and got the bearing and sensor setup at O'Riellys, and picked up 36mm and 18mm sockets since my metric tools aren't up to par. Finally got started taking stuff apart late afternoon and finished about the time the truck race got over. The code is now gone but I left the truck on jackstands. Tomorrow I'll change the oil even though it's a bit too soon at about 3500 miles. I normally go 4,000-4,500 with synthetic oil. The zirks will get some grease too.

Working on removing the flywheel on a 79' HH120. Soaked the shaft in kroil and put the damper pulley puller on it. I cranked it down pretty tight, and every now and then I crank on it a little more. I'm hoping by morning it'll have popped itself off.

My wife's truck is done, took it to the car wash for the test drive. Hope it will be good for awhile. Brought the '55 in and pulled the carb. Going to try a new one on it. I just couldnt get the needle and seat to seal consistently. I built that old one out of 3 junk Rochester M's 10 years ago. It would work great for months then start putting gas in the crankcase while shut off. Did several new needle and seats that would work off and on. New chinese carb was 72 bucks shipped so I figured what the heck. Got the stuff needed to adapt to my engine swapped over and now I need to run a switched 12V wire for the automatic choke. Worth a try!

catching my breath.... just finished round 2 of the leaf harvest.... gutters and all this time......… all day's worth of work, and the trees still have about a half a load left to drop, some of my neighbors, whose leaves end up here, still hanging onto more than that.... did I say this is the one yard chore I hate worst of them all?
10000 trips up and down ladder, between house and detached garage, even with a gas powered leaf blower in hand, of course I ran out of 2 cycle mix with 1/2 of a garage gutter to go....at least what was in there was good and dry, not a sloppy mess this time like usual. only good part of this season left for this round..... BURN THEM!!!! Yeah, I can still do that here without someone calling the cops...… the whole neighborhood was on fire today it seemed...…
that is as soon as I get home from getting the wife from work. Had to get this done today, got up to almost 50*today, tomorrow's high in mid 20s and we're under winter storm warning for tomorrow, 3-5" of white crap expected..... and not supposed to be above freezing for 3-4 days at least.
gutters were overflowing, add wetness and frozen blob of leaves and twigs, I don't want to have to rehang them.... done that before, with my old gutters...… and now I have the bigger ones on the house vs what was on there then...…. so yeah, had to do this today...
did take the 2nd half of the Bears game off, from leaf patrol.... they finally won one for once.

got the front end of a Durango to finish reassembly on before i go to bed, so it can hit the alignment shop tomorrow...… complete rebuild.... all new control arm bushings, rack bushings, sway bar bushings, 4 shocks, brand new rear leafs….. ball joints and tie rod ends were done ~20K miles ago, still good..... went with Energy Suspension polyurethane throughout.... originals "only" lasted 258,000 ,miles.....keeping this thing til the wheels rot off, my wife loves this thing for some unknown reason. started the front end job yesterday, didn't get to touch it yet today because of leaves..... not really a lot left to go..... put brakes back together, put sway bar back on, put tires back on.

off work tomorrow (paid holiday, 3 day weekend) have a feeling that will be cut short if the weather guessers are right (I hope not.... I want at least 50* and full sun, no wind)

Got my Sears snow ready last not, well mostly.
Got front blade mounted and brought back blade from storage so I have it at the barn. Didn't chain it up though, I'll do that later.

I also started working on the purple suburban, I need to repaint both fenders and some other stuff, but decide to start putting it back together so I have a spare working tractor for winter. I can repaint in the spring

My eyes are feeling better today. All day yesterday they was still hurting and fuzzy. Im unable to find the battery here in town so the wife and i are going to go to walmart to nite for some stuff so ill check there. If all else fails ill get them from amazon. Cant do much in the garage today anyways since its 21 out

Only good thing about arc eyes is that it's a temporary condition. They used to tell us to slice up a raw potato and lay that over your eyes. Don't remember that being of any help though.

Eyes are one of the fastest healing parts of your body. When they are irritated, blinking keeps them agititated.

Putting cold compresses, potato slices, cucumbers or whatever on your eye lid keeps you from blinking and they will heal a little faster.

With that said, if you have a big problem, the cornea can adhere to the back of your eyelid and get ripped when you open your eyes. This is serious business. That's part of the reason eye medications are often ointments. It lubes the eye and also doesn't run out like drops.

No one should take arc burn lightly. It's not worth your vision to save a few dollars on an ophthalmologist visit.

I got a call last night from a long-time friend/customer that I lettered probably at least 25 race cars for. His wife passed away yesterday. He wants 100 memorial stickers cut before her wake and funeral this weekend. The old vinyl cutter is hard at work cutting right now! He also wants some for his first wife that passed earlier this year, but I'll get this batch done first.
