Got things painted and assembled today.

I have 2 squirrel cage fans. I need to get a couple of those switches too! Do you have a link, Rick? I would probably use them more often if I could slow them down.

This is the one I used. From amazon.
Bought a switch box and a blank cover. drilled the cover to fit the switch.
Bench tested it. works fine.
If you purchase this switch do not use the C terminal.
Arrange the speeds so that the high speed comes on first.
Tomorrow I will be installing the unit on the bottom shelf of a roll around cart.

All you need on the front end is a weight bar for counter balance.

Your machine can hand just about any Deere, Yanmar, Mitsubishi, Iseki (Bolens) etc weights on the front.

Then you can use the boom for many other things, including pulling engines out of FWD vehicles and hauling them away.

Rickedy could also use a sleeve hitch for a rear finish mower, disc harrow, tiller, lawn rake, lawn bagger, etc.

The most I've been working on as it's been COLD, is gathering items on clearance from Menards, Home Depot and Harbor Freight for projects when it is warmer out. My list is getting too long on projects. And it's nothing on her list either. :D

We were outside in 23F welding better plates to an industrial work chair. Then mounted 300# load improved caster wheels. The snow flakes just sizzled on the hot metal.

Thank-you for the link and info, Rick! Keep us posted how it works! Ok looks like it must be working fine!

Mounted to roll around cart.
Functions perfectly. Will be using a furnace filter on the open intake side.
When researching using a furnace fan I learned that they need to be restricted a little to perform correctly.
They are designed to work while pulling air through a filter and pushing air against a heat exchanger.
If you gradually restrict the input or output the motor actually speeds up and smooths out.
Supposedly it is harmful to operate without proper restriction.
I gradually slid a furnace filter across the input side and the motor responded by speeding up and smoothing out.

Flag pole snapped in half a week+ ago, close to the base.
It's thin 2" aluminum pipe.
Scratched my head about how to fix, or to replace?
Ended up buying a 1 foot 1-7/8" aluminum rod from McMaster. Some hammering and drilling a hole through it, attaching a bolt & nut to secure it, and the flag is flying again.
Pretty windy again this morning, but so far so good.

When I tried to use the drill press (an old DELTA), the crank was almost seized, so that needed fixing first. Too much neglect and not cleaned in years...my bad. Luckily it's an old drill press, and its spindle is easy to disassemble, clean, re-grease and re-assemble. Works perfectly again!

Curious to how high it was ?
2" sounds a little small.. Especially thin wall aluminum.

Completely agree.
It was here when we bought the property 10 years ago. It's definitely flimsy.
Had this broken in more.... <ahem> ... pleasant weather, I'd likely have installed a brand new, better quality one.
In this weather, I was only interested in a 'quick fix'! :)

This Massey 10 should be my next project.
May learn some new cuss words with this one.
The lightning maker is not functioning.
Both outboard axle seals are leaking.
The Ross steering box is sloppy. 1/4-3/8 free turn of the steering wheel.
And that is before I tear into it.IMG_1782.jpegIMG_1781.jpegIMG_1780.jpeg

I had to take off work on Tuesday to repair my secondary well pump. My reserve tank got too low and pump ran for who knows how long. It heated the water in the pipe and when I shut off the pump, the PVC check valve blew apart.

When I reached over to turn off the pump, I guess the jolt of the pump shutting off is what caused the pipe to blow. My unlucky butt was standing right by it, I got sprayed with probanly 150-160*water. I ended up with 1st and 2nd degree burns up my leg, some on my stomach. Wearing jeans all week has sucked, but blisters are finally getting some new skin over them.
I've had so many projects this week to do, but I've not done anything all week.
