Flag pole snapped in half a week+ ago, close to the base.
It's thin 2" aluminum pipe.
Scratched my head about how to fix, or to replace?
Ended up buying a 1 foot 1-7/8" aluminum rod from McMaster. Some hammering and drilling a hole through it, attaching a bolt & nut to secure it, and the flag is flying again.
Pretty windy again this morning, but so far so good.
When I tried to use the drill press (an old DELTA), the crank was almost seized, so that needed fixing first. Too much neglect and not cleaned in years...my bad. Luckily it's an old drill press, and its spindle is easy to disassemble, clean, re-grease and re-assemble. Works perfectly again!
