What are you currently working on??

I have a Wheel Horse C141. Been fussing with it off and on for awhile. The 14 hp Kohler is worn out.
Decided to replace it with a Briggs 18hp v twin. Engine swap has gone fairly easy. Was pleasantly surprised to have the hood fit over the twin. Before removing the Kohler I took several measurements off the centerline of the crankshaft and the clutch disc.
Managed to get the Briggs into the same position. Needed a 1” to 1 1/8” adapter sleeve to fit the clutch assembly onto the Briggs. Everything else fit right up.
Tomorrow I will replace the ignition switch and wiring. Reroute the oil drain. Hook up fuel line,
The oil filter and housing on this particular engine hangs to the outside of the engine. Right in the way of the belt routing to the mule drive. I found a new housing that moves the filter to the opposite direction. It will be here in a few days. Then with a new filter and oil I should have a runner.

It was very dry looking in Iowa and Missouri when we drove through there Thursday and yesterday Rog. We hit several rain squalls driving home from Sioux Falls today, but the wind with them was awful. Hope some of that rain reaches you.

Rains have all been North or South of us. Boy drives a dump truck for a construction outfit in the Des Moines area. They are not going to try to start till May 1srt due to the wet ground and we cannot get a drop. Neighbor put up 3000 tons of silage last fall and is wishing he would have chopped another 1000 ton as he may have to feed cattle all summer. It is serious for sure.

You guys that have these horizontal crank V-twins laying around waiting for projects make me jealous! Especially when it fits without butchering up the outer body panels, Rick! I think it would be fun to do a swap like that.

If you are going to part out the Kohler let me know, please!

Yes, it sounds serious Rog. Sure hoping some rain heads your way soon!

The oil filter housing showed up today. Installed it and rerouted the oil drain. Removed the leaky easy drain petcock and pipe fitting. Resealed and installed the fitting pointing the other direction. Added. 5” nipple and cap. Filter now points the other direction and no longer interferes with the mule drive belt routing.
Removed the old style point/coil system ignition switch. Replaced it with one for a newer magneto system. Replaced the wiring. Now I am waiting on a new fuel pump. Hopefully get the fuel system buttoned up tomorrow. Plan on swapping out the seat and wheels/tires.
