What are you currently working on??

Working on the MTD 960, the throw out bearing gave up awhile ago so I am replacing it with a spare clutch assembly from a parts tractor. I have it apart and there is a lot of wear on the clutch plate I removed and also on the spare. The studs are also severely worn, don't know if they are still make them so I will most likely fill them with weld and then file down to size.

Finally got outta the hospital after 6-1/2 hours, good thing there was an outside courtyard right by the waiting room, I could go out there and not worry about a damn mask, yet be 25' away from the operating room waiting area while my wife was in there. She was in there longer than when she had this same thing done 2 years ago. She had to have whatever a DNC is. All I know, is it has something to do with parts of the body that women have, that guys don't.

Labor and delivery was right around the corner, my son finally came out of there to find me in the lobby, right as the buzzer went off telling me they wanted me in recovery where my wife was. So I got to talk to the kid for 30 seconds. They gave me a buzzer with lights like you get when you are waiting for a table in a restaurant.
They had moved my daughter in law to a room with a window view of that courtyard so I had been looking at the new parents and the new kid thru a window, didn't see much thru the blinds. Nick called me and I was talking to him by phone looking at each other thru their room window by since they moved into this new room they lost phone service. So standing 10' apart I couldn't talk to him even by phone at that point. He started, he could hear me but I couldn't hear him before the call dropped.

How much stock is in the way? I have used a sanding drum to scalp out a place to allow the bolt to be removed. Or move the entire rifle further forward and glass in the lug. Have to put a dummy screw in the old hole. Lot more work doing it that way. Be easier to remove part of the stock.

Yeah, in retrospect it wasn't that bad, although it did require quite a bit of material to be removed to make it all work.
I was mostly just disappointed, because once I received the stock, it quickly became evident that this particular manufacturer doesn't seem to be that good at paying attention to [important] details.
It's like one of those things where you spend time doing your research, commit to a specific brand/model, await its arrival, and get frustrated with 'buyer's remorse' as soon as you realize you should have chosen the OTHER one after all! ;)

Been 50 years since I did any stock work. Looks like Fajen bought out Bishop. Sold to other down the road. Most were around the Warsaw, Mo. area where they had plenty of walnut to supply them. A friend & I got a tour of their plant while down that way on a fishing trip. Lot of those old interesting companies have gone by the way side. Herters was a big one in this part of the country.

I finally found a set of narrow 12" rims. Amazon had a seller who could provide me with two 4-12 Tri-Ribs with tubes and free shipping cheaper than I could buy just the tires elsewhere. The local mower shop installed the tires and tubes for $10 total. The tractor I am putting these on had 3" spindles and the hubs I am using are 3 1/4". I gave a little thought to using the Harbor Freight "4 inch portable mill", but decided to use the real thing instead. Went to TRAIL95's workshop and used the mill to reduce the length on the back side of the hubs. Ended up doing it twice as I didn't get enough removed the first time. Got the hubs and wheels on the tractor today.

Not really working on it yet but planning some small pallet forks for the MF8E since it has a hydraulic lift blade. I've got some 1/2" plate with an angle bent on it that's not quite a 90*. It's 5" wide and plan on cutting it in half lengthwise to make 2 forks. That's a 2' wide pallet and that size would probably move most of the junk I have laying around here. Just need to work on an idea of adding to them to go up over the top of the blade and "hook". Yeah I will have to counter weight the tractor too obviously but one thing at a time. Maybe a weight box on a sleeve hitch. Got a lot of other crap going on right now getting in the way!

Split a trailer load of starter oak and boxed it up in the mudroom. Hauled to big loads of fire wood into the mudroom so have enough for a few weeks again. Today my back hurts.

Finished the adjusting slide on the drive for the QA42 snow thrower for the 1650 cub. Had to use two washers to tip the bottom forward to get the pulley to line up with the clutch pulley. Mounted and back in business for the nest snow. Love those quick attach.

Got out about noon to start splitting (a little chilly before). Got a bunch split and stacked (4 loads on the JD fork lift). And who says you need power steering? Just good wheel brakes!

Got a decent pile left to split and stack before I cut more. Trying to get 3 rick (cord), that should run me through the winter.
