What did you do with your tractor today?

I had haven’t been doing much tractor stuff recently. Today I plowed my driveway and my neighbors with the 149. First time I even started it, or any of them, in a few weeks. Probably the last time for this year, almost time to get the mower decks ready. I didn’t get any pictures today, here’s one from the last time.

nothing tractor wise today, though most of the way home, I was planning on it. Til something made me so irate, that I came home and did something I have never done before. Instead of working in the garage, I came home and punched a hole in the living room wall. While simply driving home, not speeding or driving erratically, no "defective equipment", nothing. But I got pulled over and ticketed---for not wearing a seat belt. If someone isn't doing anything wrong and minding their own biz, why can they not be left well enough alone? I was simply driving home from a long day at work and my good mood quickly changed. They were on what he called a "detail," looking for exactly what I was nailed for. Another word for fund raiser. I bloodied a couple knuckles, it dried, hand is ok. but having to cough up $164 for something so stupid, with gas that's a buck a gallon higher in about a week besides, plus they made this silly stupid offense a "moving violation"/ meaning points, and mandatory having to take the tests next time I renew 3 years from now. I'm still boiling 5 hours later.
IDK if I hate seat belts themselves more, or being told I HAVE TO use them.

Just hope he made you pissed enough you will remember to buckle up next and every time you get in a vehicle. Look at that family that was wiped out over in Kansas, 2 adults and 3 kids, hit a semi head on. no one wearing seat belts. Only a small child survived with the truck driver. Rest were ejected and died. It is simple SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES. Sermon is over !

Yeah DT that would ruin anybodies day. We live out in the country and right in the middle of nowhere the State Troopers are having spot checks. That in its self is not safe, people aren’t use to backed up traffic on these curvy roads. My Dad lived his whole life not wearing a seat belt, he hated them. He got a few tickets for it too. I’ve seen a few really bad deaths of people that were ejected that would have otherwise lived if they had buckled up. Hopefully your day will be better today.

What was suppose to be just a drive around in my free Cub Cadet LT1050 I got from a friend last year ends up being another repair job. I’ve never had mice build a nest in the middle of dryer sheets. I had ten in various locations around the engine. They chewed up several wires, peed on the coils and flywheel.

I found two wires that had been repaired before using different color wires. I hate this, it makes trouble shooting difficult. I have rewired three tractors and always use the same factory colors. I got all my stuff out late yesterday and repaired two of the wires.

I’ve always had good results with dryer sheets or moth balls. I definitely have to look for something better. I have noticed since we acquired our cat he hangs around my tractors a lot that are covered up. Mouse trapping in the shop has dropped to about one every few weeks. Hopefully this year I can build my drive in shed and let them sit un covered. I’ve read several times things that are covered outside get infested more.

Jumpins. They were hungry buggers.

I read a few years ago there’s two reasons mice chew wires. Some insulation materials contain Soya which is a treat for them to eat. Second their teeth continue to grow so they are constantly chewing on something to sharpen and grind their teeth down. I was using moth balls around each tire was my best deterrent but since we’ve had chickens I had to stop doing that. Maybe a mouse trap like Kenny posted under each tractor would be good.

Set that on top of the engine. With the hood down, what can get to it but a mouse.

I just hate the feeling I am being strangled by them. always have. in every vehicle I have tried them in. Even the ones you can adjust the height of at the door post.

Been in one wreck, where I was "beat up" a bit /but nothing serious enough for me to miss work.
I personally know of stories of "if I would have" and others that start with "if I wouldn't have".that's all I'm gonna say about that.
I just know that there are bigger fish they could be frying than pissing off the average guy over something so petty.
The bottom line = FUNDRAISER
Now to try and head out to the garage and get "something" done.
I have a few machines I want to finish getting ready for craigslist here, and soon.

I dislike the belts too but being around dirt track racing all my life, I at least respect the purpose. I saw a friend die in 1994 flipping a dirt track modified. He had his belts on obviously, but would leave them loose. The roof came off the car and he was flopping around in there like a rag doll. Most violent thing I ever saw.

Back to the passenger car belts, the alarm and the fact that it feels like it's sawing into my neck is about all that bothers me. Sometimes when I have winter clothes on, it ain't sawing into my neck, and then I try to get out , forgetting I have the dang thing on!

The cops have "quotas" and since the covid stuff is being forgotten about the quotas are being pushed hard again.

I drive one truck with no belts at all, and have two more with just lap belts. Most of the time I will put the lap belts on.
