What did you do with your tractor today?

I pressure washed the Bolens G11XL for some routine maintenance. Once it dried for a few hours it ran fine for awhile then it started surging. I emptied the gas tank and carb to check for water, all good. I checked the fuel pump it was good. I took the mixture screw out and blew a little air inside. It started up and no surging but is idling a little rough. It was late so I quit fir the day. We have a grandson bridging ceremony today when they graduate from their junior high school and receive awards. If I feel like it this afternoon I’m going to remove the top of the carb and check that out. This tractor has been repowered with a 16 hp Vanguard Twin. It ran flawlessly before I PW it. :eek:F788661B-7814-4459-9BAD-3A2FD12E578D.jpeg5CBABB72-C8A3-48FE-972F-5AA0B800AE6C.jpegDB2A712F-F0D9-4E72-8ECB-1119C8F65427.jpegF6C05BBA-A17B-4E54-9B69-D5582F632726.jpeg

Not "to" my tractor but more "for" one of them. Took off work today to make for a 4 day weekend to get some stuff done outside but this damn rain is ruining that line of thinking. I guess it's supposed to quit within an hour or so, but then gotta wait for things to dry out so I can do what I was going to. Should have saved the vacation day.

2 things for the same tractor. One, a lift link to replace the one that broke last fall when I took the tiller off and put the mower deck on. This link switches the lift from the front/center pto to the rear pto, it's been a tiller tractor so long that link seized up, had to help it with a hammer and pry bar/work it back n forth, to switch from rear lift to mid lift that I needed for the deck and busted it, looks like cast and I don't have any cast rods to try and weld it.
MNGB parted out 2 of these machines and sent me the good parts off one of them to fix mine.
And the 2nd thing was an accessory that mounts to these Ariens GTs/ a leaf sucker, that mounts out back and runs off the rear pto,
I've been after one for quite a while. I'd seen this on CL last fall but list the guy's info, he recently reposted it so today was the day to go get it.
I had to disassemble it, and at that, it barely fit in the back of the Durango. We had to take that, as we have the grand kid today /and so we needed a spot for a car seat, since he apparently ain't big enough for Forward facing car seat/ and the last time I went somewhere with him, I had the club cab Dakota/ in which forward was the only way I could fit the kid's chair in there/ and ended up getting my azz reamed, as we met up with my son and daughter in law, whose best friend works at the hospital in labor and delivery,,,,, and was the 1st person to see us that time, and had to go in and "tattle" that we didn't have him in the seat the right way....... and between the daughter in law and her, they tried to convince me I wanted something bad to happen. (they are full of it of course) I see this "friend" that started the controversy now and then/ and still I don't feel the need to say a word to her, for her $#1t starting" ways.

On the leaf collection machine there's a guy who used to be among us here in the forum, that I have not seen around in a good while/ who had 2 of them for sale a while back..... the biggest problem with his, (and gas was still realistically priced) was getting it from Ohio to Illinois.
This one was an hour away, vs 6 hours away, and better yet/ "fire sale" priced. It's all there, which is a problem with these machines, and he even had the original book for it too. Now to get the Magnum 18 twin out of the shed and swap it for the ventilated KT19 that's on the tractor this unit is meant for.

The guy who sold it has a real nice GT18 in the shed that he don't use no more, I told him to keep my number and call me if he decides to part with it. Already has the 18hp magnum twin on it, like my GT19 will be getting.

Started the MF1450 and ran it outside to bring my wife's car in the shop. She went with her sister to their Mom's house so her car was here. There is hail in the area. I just as well get it checked out as we will be driving it to Denver, CO next week.

I started cutting grass with my 149, then it shredded the belt. I had to finish with the 1450. I was on the last pass on the front yard, and it popped off. Put it back on and it lasted about 3 minutes and broke. I think one of the pulleys on the deck is locking up. They all seemed fine last week when I put the deck on. I’ll have to pull it back off this week and check it out.

The 149 still had to earn its spot in the garage, so I used it to haul a couple bags of salt to the basement for our water softener. It did a good job with that.

Was helping son clean up a spot yesterday. Lot of junk in this area. And what ever the plant is, it grows shoots up out of the ground and can over take your yard very easily. Any way, this area was full of old desks, wood, shingles that people threw in there over the years. So we clean a lot out and were getting tired. A lot of the wood in there had nails in it, and I was reluctant to put any tractor in there. Got a flat last year with the Ferguson tractor, in the front tire, just by driving close to the edge of the stuff. But we did use the MF 14 bulldozer to help in the end. Thankfully we did. Made it a lot easier. Still a little more to do, but I think it will be manageable now. Will be able to go around the thing and keep the shoots cut off with the mower. Will see if any flats on the bulldozer in the next few days. Be nice to have a set of steel wheels for a job like that. Was wishing I had a Case 646 to help. That would of been great.

I cut grass with the Cub LT1050, and weed whacked for an hour. I got the Sears SS15 out for some seat time. It’s been parked for over three weeks. I used the MTD990 for some yard work pulling the trailer around. Today I’m going to rest all the kids are coming over today to grill out. My son can’t make it because of work.

Son had the other heavy equipment bulldozer, hehe, out this evening. Pushed all the bamboo like sticks right into garbage can.
1951 Ferguson with 7’ rear blade.

Yesterday the G16XL with tiller got the call to finish up the garden. I found the best way to start that Briggs on the tiller is to "prime" the cylinder with a squirt of gas first. Noticed the plug was real cruddy when I pulled it. Got half way through the last round and the Briggs died. Finsihed with the BCS which does a much better job as the tine turn much faster.

Well I never rested like planned yesterday. Carol reminded me the kids would be wanting to ride the Atv so I had to cut some more field grass. I did watch The Battle of The Bulge on tv yesterday morning and had some coffee and a nice breakfast and some porch time.

I got the DA 916 out yesterday to make sure the noise I heard before was the 48" deck. I mowed the alley with the 42" deck and it ran good. Wife got to liking the ZT when I was in the hospital last year so she has been mowing the bigger share of the yard.

Carolyn has used her Cub 1018 for a few years but was saying the last time that it is hard for her to hold her foot down on the foot control. Not sure she would go for the hand control on my Cub 782. Not sure I want inexperienced on that tractor after a complete refurbish and rebuilt engine. It don't have 1/2 hour on it yet. Need to replace the governor spring which I have. I do the biggest share of the yard with the 1862 and 54" deck. Not a fan of ZT mowers at all. Tried 3 different ones and don't like the burnish rings around all the trees, bushes, etc. and we have a lot of them.

Cut grass again! This is the first time I’ve cut that it hasn’t been super high.

When I was cutting I saw a dead rabbit in the yard. Thought it was wild but it was gray. It was one of my daughters 4 H rabbits that had escaped. He was killed by a cat in the yard by the looks of it. RIP Henry 2022 to 2022.

She had him mostly trained so now she will have to start over with another one.

Same here I had about a four hour window to get an area of field grass cut that I only cut about every two to three weeks along with weed eating the same area. It was still a little damp from dew but I had to get at it. About 2 hours cutting and 2 hours weed eating I barely made it. The weeded area is hilly, rocky, and has a couple of drainage ditches. This was the first time this year I cut that. I only cut the weeded area about 5 times a year.
