What are you currently working on??

Did a service on the MF 7 today. Grease, oil, rear end oil change. Lubed movin parts. One brake pad worn out after 15 years. Made pads for it back then. Have a set at home. That I made a couple years ago. Put that on soon.

That H--- is sure making your life easier! You have a good son for getting that old shop set up so nicely!

So, today we made a sliding jack for the . It slides along front to back. Put tractor on top of it, put a jack in and lift. Good for tire repairs and wheel bearings, etc. May make another one, so front and rear could be done.

I worked on the MF14 I use to do most of the lawn mowing. Last time I used it to mow just at the very end the PTO belt broke and wrapped it self around the electric clutch. I had put is off due to several weeks of no rain and the grass not growing. That changed this past Tuesday, we have had off and on rain until yesterday around noon. Now the lawn is going to need to be mowed at least one more time. I had to pull the pulley off the clutch to get all the shredded belt pieces off. Testing the clutch it would not engage with 12v power. I took clutch off and put the coil on the work bench hooked it up to 12v battery. The magnet was week, probably pulled some of the wires out of the coil when the belt shredded. I have 2 more coils on the shelf, tested it to find out it was good, installed it on the tractor. Everything is back together I just need to go to town to pick up a new PTO belt.

So are thinking about making an alinement machine addition to the h- - - -. Just have to add the turn tables for the front wheels. And then we can set up the front end.

Hehe.

Pulled the 50C deck out from under the 782 this morning. then dropped the lifting frame for repisrs. The yoke that fits over the rock shaft is supposed to hsve two flat fingers, one on top opther on the bottom of the rock shaft. This unit was missing one andhad to cut on and weld it in place. All back together, deck is back on wheeles adjusted for now. My requirer more asjusting down the road. Couple trim pieces, hubcaps installed and iot should be good to do.

Fixed a flat tire on the MF 7. Front tire. Used the new sliding jack on the h____. All most made the tire repair bearable. But not really. Lot easier to get the wheel off, for sure.

Work with my son at his garage again today. Finished putting chip board on. Moved air compressor into place. Hooked up hoses. Cleaned compressor up a little bit. All most done of fixin up the walls. Just one corner left. From the wood pile around to where we stopped today. And only first level. The bottom of the stairs will be insulated and covered. Not doing the upper level.

My Speedex 1641has always been a PIA to get on and off of. The main reason that I own it is because the PO had difficulty getting on and off. He is 78 and uses a cane. He was here the other day and talked about what needed to be done to help the problem. The seat needed to be moved back, the gear shift lever needed to be shortened, and the running board needed to be larger. Moving the seat back would help fit my 6' frame a little better. Shortening the gear shift lever would help keep my pants leg from dragging it into gear and putting me off balance. And with my big feet a larger floor board would be a blessing.
So yesterday I went to work.
The seat was as far back as the adjustments would allow. The U-shaped seat spring attaches with four bolts to a pedestal from the frame and to a cross brace for the fenders. To move it rearward I had to cut a plate to size, drill two holes and weld it to the rear of the pedestal. That allowed me to reattach the seat and spring 1 1/2" rearward. 1 1/2" doesn't sound like much but it makes a big difference in the seating position and room to get my big foot across to the other running board.
While the seat was off and out of the way I shortened the gear shift lever by 3". It now is only as tall as the belt cover and you don't have to lift your foot up higher to clear it and it's not grabbing your pants leg.
I checked the steel stash and found a 3" plate to widen the running board with. It was already the correct length. After removing the running board and chamfering both pieces I welded, painted, and reinstalled the running board.
Today when the paint was dry I put on some traction tread. I find it a lot easier to get on and off this tractor now. Although you do need to follow a specific procedure. And it is best to do so from the right hand side.
The PO was here this afternoon and is making noises about buying it back.

Getting the ewo EK's and the QT16 ready for an auction this Saturday. Batteries topped off, need to give them a bath, one tire looks a bit low. The normal stuff one goes through to get them looking acceptable. Time to start thinning the herd down. Will have 2 or 3 more later.

Nice work on that Speedex Rick. I know it is probably blasphamy but I sure would like some kind of running boards on my MF8E. It is getting harder to get off and on having to use the ground!

I haven't been able to work on the GT's lately but lots going on. I'm trying to get the sellable parts off of the 270 GMC field find engine so I can put the rest of the chassis out in the back yard until I can get the front axle off of it.

Yesterday my wife had to go out of town to her relatives about 75 miles south. She went with her sister but to my surprise she came home in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Her uncle GAVE it to her. We had been considering finding some beater 4x4 to have around to keep from piling the miles on her '06 GMC Denali. Guess she found it! I drove it to work this morning and washed it after I got off. It was caked with Rez clay and gravel road dirt. Outside cleaned up pretty good. Interior is in good shape but filthy. I took it on about a 25 mile highway drive. Lot of miles but runs and drives real nice. First thing I did last night was order a set of hood struts. Her uncle has a thick yardstick under the hood to hold it up---LOL! It has a couple of minor glitches but shouldn't be big problems. Incidentally, the same uncle gave us that gigantic cabover camper in the first picture too!

Gotta get that old GMC chassis out of the shop to get room to use the shop for our vehicles soon! Hopefully by Monday!

I need to haul home these tractors he gave me one of these days too. So much to do and so little time!
