What are you currently working on??

Have a cub 782 with a rebuilt brigs L head twin in it that I wanted to finish up. Needed a new gov spring and gov adjusted then break in that new motor. Key would not make sound from the starter. Pulled the gas tank so I could get at things. Found a loose wire at the ignition switch. Engine turn's over now so the tank goes back on and get it running this morning pulling a cart around some a various speeds. May put the deck in gear and let it cut some grass just to say it has done some work. 16hp L head that is bored 10 over. Donner from a 582 after the KT17 ventilated the block.

Messed with the J.D. 110 today. First thing I had to do was trim the "thumb" lever on the choke arm so the breather would fit up without binding. Installed the breather housing with a new air filter and pre-filter.
While trying to smooth out the carburetor I kept seeing something from the corner of my vision. Finally spotted an intermittent spark. A wire had come loose from the ignition switch and the vibrations would occasionally cause it to short out against the housing. I believe it is the wire coming from the rectifier. Since this is the wrong switch I'll trace it down when I rewire this mess.
I did get it to idle smoothly and advance to full throttle without stuttering. So, since it was running decent I took it for a ride and checked all the gears. Fourth gear growls a little. I also engage the mower deck and immediately killed the engine, Second time I eased it into engagement and the belts broke loose and started turning the blades. I mowed part of the yard and decided that I would rather use my Kubota.
After putting it back on the lift I drained the transaxle. filled it with ATF and ran it long enough to hopefully clean the insides. Then filled it with 90w. Fourth gear sounds better now.
Found a dealer sticker on the back of the seat, I wonder if they remember selling it back in 1972? I'm thinking about calling them to see if they are still in business and would give me a new sticker. I got some pictures of it out in the sun.

Your JD110 is by far in better shape than the one I got a few weeks ago! My hood might be slightly better but that's it! All 4 of the tires on mine match and hold air, but the tube is poking out of one of the fronts a little bit---LOL!

Air the tube up to close to normal size in that bad tire. Wrap it with duct tape a couple layers and put it back together. Been running one on the front of a RAM for several years that way. By a new tire when you run across a good buy, not when you need it.

Got the governor set on the 782 yesterday afternoon. Drove it up a hill and back down. Hydro pulled good, didn't notice the engine even pulling hard going up hill. PTO would not engage so will get that worked out this morning while it is wet out. Then it will get a good bath as it has been parked in the machine shed since last fall when I finished the engine up. This will definitely be a keeper.

Rain this morning so looked at the PTO issue with the 782. Moved a power wire to another open socket and have power to the PTO switch when the key is on in lights and run position. Push button starter switch was giving problem on the 4 wheeler. Pulled it and sprayed it good with electronics cleaner then blew it out. Work like new again. Might make a parts run later. Magnum will be ready for a ride I am sure.

My son wanted a little table for his room. This was some old table that was left in the house when we moved in. I threw it in the basement and left it thinking I’d find a use for it one day.

It was pretty beat up and a faded wood stain. Probably came from hills or Kmart in the 80s. I sanded it down, painted it black and used the cricut to cut out a pokeball (it’s from one of his favorite games) and stuck it on top.

he was super excited. I have maybe 2 dollars in the whole project. Worth a garbage run before. Maybe worth 10 bucks now!

The hood on the J,D. 110 sets about an inch too far back off the dash. I compared it to the other 110 which sits flush with the dash. After comparing and measuring the hood and the mounting brackets the only difference was the pivot hole at the front was 1" too close to the dash. Once I loosened the brackets I was able to slant them forward and gained the 1" needed. I left them snug until the hood was in position, then tightened them into place. The hood now fits much better.

I pulled the Huskee GT up to the house, sprayed down the motor with degreaser and the rest with Simple green. Gave the whole thing a good wash let it dry in the sun until evening. Then repaired a leaky tire, got the hood mounted on and decided to see how it mowed.

First impressions....
Mows okay for a box store mower.
Negatives...
1. Steering is still sloppy, I think it needs to tie rod ends or switch to heim joints. My Sears steers so much easier and quicker.
2. I will need ags on it or I thought about cutting some lugs out of the turfs. I have steep hills and it was sliding a little, but it is definitely heavier than regular lawn tractors.
3. Has a miss occasionally, I'll probably change plugs and dump some seafoam in it, it did sit for 11 years not running.

Overall I think it will be okay for a mower, maybe I can retire the old Sears for mowing duty.

Sounds like a good back up mower Marty. I’ve let a couple of my go to GT’s rest while Hoopdy earns it’s keep. I’m like you I think a nice little set of better rear tires would help me a lot. It sure wouldn’t hurt if at least two of my four tires matched lol.

I brought my sons little push mower home Friday to work on. It was left with his house in a shed when he bought it. It’s been working fine until the other day, it just quits after missing for a few seconds but starts back up. It’s a Pulsar and looks like a bottom line mower that’s disposable. I tried it out three times and the same thing. I took the air filter off and cleaned it, ran it WOT manually by holding back the automatic throttle and it’s running good now but it didn’t start back up  I tried pumping the big red rubber primer button but only heard air and it never felt firm like it should after a few pumps. I’m thinking a clogged tank or fuel line. We had to leave yesterday evening so today I’ll get back on that.

My Cub 1862 was having traction issues with the turf tires and no weights. Filled them both with washer fluid and problem solved. Lot cheaper than buy a pair of ag's by far.

Working on the golf cart from hell last night.. I get the thing going and then the throttle cable breaks! New cable came in yesterday afternoon.. I had jacked the thing up when I discovered the busted cable a few days ago.. I finished installing the new cable and cranked the engine..

FIRE!!!! Gas shot out of the crankcase and the spark plug was out/ grounded and started a nice fire show! If the thing wasn't on jackstands I would have just pushed it out of the shop and grabbed the marshmallows.. But, to save the shop I broke out the extinguisher and put the fire(s) out.
Turns out jacking up the front filled the engine with gas.. The rest is another horror-show I'd like to forget!

Halon powder is all over the shop and the cart.. I drained the gas (oil) and used it to burn some weeds in the driveway and refilled the thing with oil..

Now to try it again (I'm kinda apprehensive now though)

Here's a pic of last nights escapade:

Those hang on lights are a real pain to try and keep working. On a boat trailer they are worse yet. Especially if you forget to unplug them before backing in the water. My 16' trailer has all recessed LED lights and have never had an issue with them. Once in a while the plug don't want to make contact.

I just finished fixing up my little trailer for hauling treasures and went to hook up lights to trailer...my light cord on trailer gone....no sign of it or the "light box" connection on frame...I dunno...and the bug that was on my welding shield turned out to be a burn!!!...heck with it..I can see around it for a while..
