What are you currently working on??

Nice tractor. Is it a hydro ? A fella down the road from me has one like that. But I really can’t remember What number it is, or the year. I think his is a 1969.

After looking at tractor data, I believe my neighbours tractor is a 125.

Will be working on the Cub 1512 tomorrow. Never did like the way thos GT batteries turned it over. Could not keep it spinning without a booster on it. 375 cca just isn't enough to get a diesel running. Not room for a larger battery so-o-o-o-o-o Going to mount a 700 CCA in a box on the back and see what that does.

This one is 127 hydro, nice enough little tractor but Im not much of a hydro fan, I'll take a fiber disc clutch over a hydro any day, and I had a 126 gearbox tractor here last year so I was tempted to keep that one.

The bigger battery did not help. Time to update the starter as it is still the original. Now the question is which starter will fit in the 1512 ?? A few on eBay and read where the updated starters do not have the nose cone like OEM but are all w/o the cone the updated style?

I dont like it.. Lol, but then I dont really care much for hydro tractors in general, foot controlled hydro's are nice but I cant get used to the hand controlled ones at all. I prefer old school, I want a clutch, a real one tho, not that pulley on a spring thing.

My Cub 1512 has the hand control on the right side of the dash. After I got used to it I really like it. Rest my wrist on my knee and control the ground speed with a couple fingers.

Working on a jig to be able to compress the clutch spring on the old gear drive Cubs w/o hurting myself, and wound up hurting myself building the jig.... Found the idea for a wooden jig over on the cub cadet site, thought it might be a good idea being that I have a blue puller's spring going in on the current 1200 I have for a clutch job at the moment. Twice the power of a fresh oem one, who knows how tired the 40 yo one that I took out might be. But I know that the guy who runs this thing blew up the new clutch that went in with the engine overhaul around 20-25 operating hours ago.

Anyways I was cutting a piece of rough sawn oak in a table saw, and the tail that I had just cut off kicked back on me, grazed my thumb and ripped it open, on it's way to my forehead. Had my thumb not been there it would have probably buzzed by over my shoulder. The thumb was there because I was holding on to a "push stick" as a guide.
I hadn't gotten hurt much for quite a few years, but i'm making up for that fact in spades over the past couple of months for some weird strange reason.

I used an 1862 with a dash lever similar to that for two years, mower and snowblower... never did get used to it. I put up with it on the dash of my Deutz mowers only because its the only thing I dont like about them and I plan to invent a foot control for it someday.... been saying that for two years tho mind ya.

Found a decent seat for the 127.... stole it off a Snapper 1650. made an aluminum plate and mounted that to the oem Cub springs then mounted the seat to the plate... 3 hours later I just pulled it up to the garden hose so I can wash it.... coffee break;)

Good looking 127. I have a 1650 flat fender that needs a engine transplant. Have OH160 I want to drop in it but haven't check for fit or anything yet. Got started to pull the starter out of the 1512 to upgrade it to the hi torque unit. Talking rain later this week so will get back to it then probably. I have the snow blower unit that came on the 1650 I want to put on the 1512 for this winter. When I get that going I may put one of the Bolens with a thrower up for sale. Need a gear box for the thrower for a QT I haven't been able to run down yet. Another project for another day.

I have a right angle gearbox off a QL but I its the rear one for a tiller and Ive been told that they dont have the same ratio. Jacobsens used the same gearbox on their blowers so that might be an option altho Im not sure if the ratio is the same or not.

I really dislike that style cub hand control. I never can get used to it. The only way I like Hydro is foot controlled...and even then I really prefer the twin pedal style. The rocker style tends to get my right knee throbbing after an hour or so of mowing.

I will hopefully get my Cub Cadet 123 out of the shed and see if I can get the steering knuckles formed back to the way they should be. P.O. must have hit something, tried to “fix” it..... but it was a poor attempt. It really messes with the steering.

(I need to get it working better..... with any luck I will be selling the 123 w/mower deck and #1 tiller soon..... after I get a Wheel Horse C160 brought home...... it has a mower deck, tiller, aerator, and cultivator attachments. Will allow me to sell the 123 and a Craftsman GT6000..... finally a little room in the shed!)
