put a deck onto the Ariens S-16H, that I just swapped the engine into, that came out of the burnt out carcass that I had bought for its snowblower.
1st time that I have mounted a deck onto one of these (and I have 4 of them) my NH came with deck already in place, never took that one off yet..... gonna have to one of these days to check the belt and sharpen the blades, etc
Deck I put under the S16, is greased and ready for action this season.... and that deck came to me with what looks like new blades, paint not even worn off.
now onto my Cub cadets... 1 mostly complete 129 (my favorite series of IH Cubs) along with a skeleton 129, that has a few goodies left on it, and an engineless 1650 that will donate its hydro lift and all associated components to the 129's cause.... I couldn't find a narrow base K341 last year for it, gave up trying/ would cost me more to source parts elsewhere for adding hyd lift to the 129, than I was asking for the whole rolling chassis last year (and didn't get a single inquiry) got the pair of 129s home last weekend, needed my son's help to load the 1650 (I had previously robbed 3 of the tires and wheels for something else) got that one home today and just starting to figure out what all will need swapped from the 1650 to finish the job, and looking also to see, of those parts that I have 2 or 3 of, that will interchange between these 3 machines, which ones are the best, gonna cannibalize the best of all 3, into that 129..... engine runs great/ so why not.....
only issue with the "mostly complete" 129, is the hydro handle is stripped, and even when it does grab, I can't seem to get it out of "forward" range, no neutral, even..... had to yank the driveshaft so the starter generator would crank the engine without the tractor trying to lunge forward while cranking.
remnants left after getting what I need off of the 2 parts machines, will be "up for grabs"...…
in the meantime, a lot with a 26X36 garage and no house on it, recently popped up for sale a mile from home, also has a ~12x16 shed in back corner/ the house that used to be there, blew up (literally) about 15 years ago, from a nat gas leak..... I asked about this lot back then, was told owners' kid was wanting to "do something" with lot, was considering rebuilding on same lot. still nothing been done, the 2 buildings left are falling into disrepair, looking at this for "cold storage" once building repairs (mostly roofs and eaves) are done.... owner's kid now the one who posted for sale....
I have free storage now but 30 miles away,,,, I know, real answer would be "get rid of my junk" (tractors and 2 old cars) but where would the fun be in that? talking over possibilities with my son, of us getting this lot.... just thinking out loud at the moment...…and with another lot to mow, more seat time plus would justify keeping at least 3 tractors then between home and there...…this lot is ~1/3 acre, just like the lot my house sits on.
