What are you currently working on??

Was just an idea, DT. Pics are easy and to do what I did above I clicked on "Reply" next to the like button. When it comes to renaming links, I don't know how to do that either.

Who knows I might. Lots of catching up already if I did. But I often feel like I'm talking to myself on many of my posts, and I'm on more than just this site. Some worse than others, I often find myself adding such phrases as "if any of you out there care and/or actually reading" what I post...

Pulled out the awning for the first time too. Seems to work well.

We bought a different camper a couple of months ago. We haven't tried the awning yet nor did we on our last camper
On this one the PO ran thru the "how to" real fast, I didn't catch it all.... And he had a pair of vise grips on a shaft of some kind that sticks out the right end cap of the awning "roll" and I don't know what that did, there's a hole for something like a roll pin in the shaft that sticks out like there's supposed to be a lever or knob there of which I can't find separately to buy. It looks like I have to buy a right side spring assembly to get whatever handle/ knob is supposed to be there or else a whole new awning which is crazy expensive.
When they showed the camper to us originally when we first seen it for sale the awning was out and set up, the cloth definitely looks good.
I am having trouble identifying my awning, it's made by a company called carefree of Colorado, all parts I am finding are grouped together and everything I can find says it fits 2-3 models of that company's awnings.

I THINK I have their " fiesta" model, apparently the numbers on the arms are just for the arms, and there's another tag on the awning once I do have it open.... But I'm talking to others about it at camping stores and on a jayco forum that's the consensus but I'd like to be sure before I spend money on it... All else I know about it, is that from outside of awning arm to outside of awning arm mine measures 17'3". I don't know if the arms are supposed to be included in the length measurement for ID'ING parts or not.
Id like to get it working, our next outing "for sure" with it will be the covered bridge fest in parke county Indiana the week of Columbus Day. We might take it a weekend here or there in between now and then.

Not sure which way will go this morning. Depends on how wet it is. Went to a private collection gun auction yesterday. Lot of nice Marlin, Winchester and Browning guns, mostly LA's. Were mostly older models no longer produced and in new condition brought big $$, most in the $700 to $1200 range. This brought the price of the older used guns up too. Only thing I got was an old Remington Target Master .22 single shot, only because they are hard to find any more. Haven't been made since 1962.

I only do this site anymore. Just don't have time for more. Got to GTT occasionally as I was on there regular for a long time.

Far as comments, I understand if folks don't have time to comment on every little thing I post. The "likes" let me know a few folks read them. I don't get time to comment on everyone's stuff too. Many of my posts are stuff most guys on here "been there done that" anyway.

That shaft with the vice grips is probably the up/down switch, DT. I didn't get any pics yesterday so I pulled the awning back down to get some this afternoon. You should have a hook to pull that lever to the "down" position. The hook is hanging off the lever in this pic.

This is what it looks like up close.

This awning is an "A&E" brand by Dometic.

I'd like to think they all operate similar. Canvas width on this one is 10'1".

That's pretty damm sad you can't seem to be able to buy that lever. Maybe you could get one made off my picture?

I got the old RR crossing control building cleaned out and moue proofed again. I missed a crack at the corner of the door and they squeezed in a chewed a bigger hole in the insulation. All covered with heavy tin now. It had settled down into the ground in the last 10 years so decided to jack and block it up before putting stuff back in it again. Used the 20T bottle jack with bracket for lifting shipping containers. Worked good once I got the on side up far enough to put 2 cap blocks under each corner. Other side was a bit harder as it had a lot more rock and dirt up against the building. Got it done and even looks straight with the world. 13 bags of mulch will go in tomorrow afternoon after the dew dries off.

Another day of getting the motorhome prepped to go to Colorado.

It will fit the nose into the shop so now I know that oil changes can be done on it without being completely outside.

Still could pull forward another 18" or so.

The headlights were pretty yellow so cleaned them and petrified bug stains on the chrome bumper and grill parts. I forgot get before pics.

This pic you might be able to tell it is still cloudy but I had already scrubbed it with Comet on a scratch pad sponge.
IMG_3193.jpg

Used this stuff for cleaning.

I think the other one looks a little better than the above pic. I had polished it up a bit with Mirror Glaze.
IMG_3194.jpg

I had the A/C on inside so it was time to clean the inside of the cab windows. There windshields are big and hard to reach! I have one of those cleaning wands but I just used it for the first cleanup to get who knows how many years of crud off. They don't do as good a job and hand wiping the glass. Also there was a bunch of glue residue from rodeo entry stickers up and down both sides on the inside of the glass. The P.O. peeled them off but left the glue. He is a semi pro saddle bronc rider. Laid up after neck surgery right now but plans to ride again in October.

Anyway that was quite a chore getting that glue off. Razorblade scraper, Naptha and elbow grease. I don't like Goo gone. it stinks too bad, and leaves and oily residue. Think I got the inside of the glass done to my satisfaction and did the outer glass by hand too.

This pic is outside after all was done.

Probably should sand and clearcoat the headlight lenses one of these days, but not today.

I have one headlight that needs cleaned. Either parked all the time with the left so the sun could get it or the other one as been replaced already. I see Rock Auto has just the clear covers for the headlights. I may check into that route.
Just for the heck of it I checked amazon last night for new ones. $75 bucks a pair shipped. Don't think I will mess around sanding and clearcoating for that price. Comes with bulbs too.

Got the 12 bags of red mulch tucked back in the back of the signal shed. Tried to get the 1862 to run but the china carb is all screwed up and only putting fuel to one cylinder and flooding it so have to wait on the carb to get rebuilt. Got the 782 out and mowed about 40 feet, hiy something and threw the deck clear out of the mounts. Job in the morning is to put it back on again so I can finish mowing. Carolyn's 1018 is still going but I cannot run that with the 2 pedal hydro control and my bum right knee. Grass will wait till we gt to it I guess.

I sure wouldn't at that price. I my just order a pair myself. Haven't thought much about the headlights lately. Do very little nigh driving anyway.
